  1. I would love to see a return to good old fashioned wrap up tackling techniques rather than the “kill shot” shoulder checks so many DBs throw these days. So I would be on board with your rule change for that purpose alone. I wonder if we will ever see a change to flag football flags, at least for QBs, to protect them from harm during sacks (since they are more immobile than other players and can be teed off on more easily).
  2. I get that if they are framed and on permanent display. But I wonder why someone would spend hundreds on clothing that is just going to hang in a closet because you don’t want to get it dirty? Ah well, to each their own.
  3. In a perfect world I’d agree, but the first time a QB ducked into a sack and exposed his head to contact to draw a defensive penalty, or there is dispute about “head” vs “shoulder” point of impact (see Brandon Alexander against Toronto last year) that hurts your home team, watch the fans boards go ballistic and scream for a return to the old rule.
  4. Yeah. John, Bill, Mary, Joe, Colleen, and Pete.
  5. Google says two wins and seven total nominations.
  6. Reminder that the ratings went up at halftime in the Grey Cup when Keith Urban performed (by about 400,000 eyeballs). It certainly was the only time all the wives at my Cup party came into the den from the kitchen and were glued to the TV (they also returned for the interview and told the men to shush). When Beiber and Carly Rae Jepson performed at the extremely reviled half time show in Toronto for Grey Cup 100, ratings jumped 600,000 people. This was totally a management decision in my mind. Suitor has his faults, and if you want to find confirmation bias to support him or tear him apart, lots of his statements can be spun to the interpretation that suits your mindset. But I don’t think he’s stupid. He and TSN are playing to an audience to get ratings and draw in more fans, so giving the diehards on fan sites the elevated commentary we expect is probably not their goal. We are watching no matter what. It’s the younger, newbie, and less knowledgeable fans they want to bring in, so the commentary gets simplified, the rock ‘n’ roll eye candy gets spotlighted, and pumping up success stories about fan bases and what a great time a CFL game is (see the focus on the BC crowd, concert, pre-game tailgating, and Rourke’s cool grandma pounding back beers) is the agenda they want to sell. JMO.
  7. If flagging every instance did nothing more than teach players to wrap up and tackle rather than throwing shoulder checks, I’m all for it.
  8. Lack of depth at the position.
  9. Some jerseys look really good on the players as part of a full uniform, but are dull when just the top is worn by the fans (the San Francisco 49ers are a good example) while others can be nice as just a fan jersey top but make the overall uniform just look bad. Those gold jerseys were an example of that to me. But then I have always preferred a white jersey to a yellow one.
  10. I’ve watched the replay a few times and it’s not obvious if Collaros was hit in the head by a player or the ground. There was no helmet to helmet or shoulder to helmet that I can see if you slow it down frame by frame. I think the forearm gets him and twists his neck, then he smacks his helmet on the turf. But that’s just one person’s interpretation. Kind of like the arm hit to the head of Dane Evans that knocked him out of the Grey Cup. In any event, for whatever they did not do right, at least the league spotter exercised caution and had him pulled for three plays. That much the league did do correctly to prevent more possible concussion damage. 11. One compromises their morals and will lie to and flatter a complete stranger with the ultimate goal of screwing them, all in an effort to make more money for a living, and the other is a prostitute.
  12. Pretty sure we only wore the camo only once for the Alouettes game.
  13. Winnipeg fans if Trotz actually takes all the bribes and comes here:
  14. The camo was a mess, although we are undefeated in them (1-0 all-time!). Another low point was the gold tops with gold pants combo, although not as nausea-inducing looking back now as when I first saw it live in 2013.
  15. I think as just a jersey fans will wear as a top they are not great. The big W just makes it look like an overly long t-shirt. As part of the overall uniform including helmet, pants and socks it works a bit better. So it won’t necessarily work as a money-maker.
  16. That’s exactly what it is. They even said that at the last game when they were promoting it. Which is why they chose the Hamilton game to do it. And why the Bombers are wearing their road jerseys for the game.
  17. Of all the weird things people complain about on this board, this one takes the cake. Y’all know you aren’t forced to buy a white jersey. Any white shirt will do.
  18. That’s just flat out not accurate. See below. And that’s just this specific thread.
  19. What exactly in your analysis makes this a “stupid” comment? Fundamentally wrong? Too simplistic? Too obvious? Just trying to understand your mindset.
