  1. And yet some still want him to wear the “C”. Not sure what has happened to this club, but there sure seems to be something rotten with all the backsliding since 2018 and player defections/feuds/ trouble retaining or bringing in people who aren’t re-treads. Or do I over-exaggerate? Maybe just my mood today.
  2. If not for the Andrew Harris revenge factor, Winnipeg’s defence would be the obvious choice given their strength and the Argos offensive ineptitude. May still be the best most obvious pick out there. Good luck to you. And take any fantasy advice from me with a pillar of salt. Anyone who has watched me butcher the Lock of the Week year after year knows I generally suck donkey balls at picking fantasy winners.
  3. I’d be wary. He may not put many passing yards up but he will scramble and run more than a few QB option plays, and I doubt Hamilton has been prepping their offence to face him and set up a designated QB spy. They may well sort it out as the game goes on, but the Tigwr-Cat defence has not been their strong suit so far.
  4. Not to me. Pouted in ‘01 and disrupted the team chemistry late in the year because he wanted the ball more when the 3-headed Mills/Blount/Roberts machine was dominating, then did his walkout, and decided getting ripped the night before the Grey Cup was the way to go and we all saw how that turned out. Then another faux “retirement” bit of drama, a careless fumble in the ‘07 East Final that led to Glenn’s busted arm, another no-show in the big game which led Milt Stegall to call out his work ethic and professionalism, and then an ignoble hush hush departure from the team. Have not found my way to forgive him or respect him for those transgressions no matter what great numbers he put up.
  5. Like in the ‘50’s. The 1650’s, in England, that is. Where the Church ran the government, with the King as the appointed head, for life. Sound like the wish of anyone we know nowadays? Oh yeah, it took a Civil War in England in the 1660’s to settle the issue and create a parliamentary democracy.
  6. My God, there sure are an awful lot of keystrokes being spent on the Roughriders lately on what is supposed to be a Blue Bomber fan site.
  7. I think St James was the last one already.
  8. Not a shock. Justice has always been different for the rich.
  9. Didn’t say in the article, but she got 20 years in jail.
  10. On the first point, I was initially puzzled too but I guess the idea is to provide equity over equality. If the player jumps, then sometimes the offence gets a free play of the refs don’t blow it dead, but the refs won’t then ignore holding calls with a penalty already in hand, because it gives an extra advantage to the offence. Likewise, if a player jumps offside and the o-lineman is disadvantaged by the head start, and their only reflex to prevent their QB getting killed is to hold since they never had a fair chance to block, they shouldn’t suffer the extra 5 yards on their end when the originating foul was on the opposing side. Now that’s just speculation on my part based on my own form of logic. If any zebras are out there, would love to hear the official explanation. I do know that when personal fouls are factored in then the yardage will be usually applied to both sides. So if there is an offside on on player and then a face mask on the other team, the yardage would be applied to both sides rather than a simple do-over. On the second point, I know that to the naked eye the toughest judgment calls are the offensive offside calls with receivers in motion and the QB past the line of scrimmage throws. Often a receiver looks like they are way offside but in slow motion you can see that the ball is just being snapped as they hit the line. But by the time the ball is in the QBs hand the receiver is often 5 yards downfield so it looks like they jumped. On the QB throw, the rule changed a few years ago and now if ANY part of the QBs body is behind the line it is a legal throw, so a QB can be past the line but drag their back foot and still make a legal throw.
  11. No worries. Am I correct that we were starting 8 Canadians anyway so we had one to spare? 3 on the interior o-line, Demski, Woli, and the RB spot (or the FB spot if we go only 4 receivers), and on defence the safety and one of the nose tackle spots?
  12. O’Leary-Orange is a National so it’s a straight swap. Don’t need another National starter elsewhere.
  13. Don’t rent the movie “The Blind Side” then.
  14. There was a play in the Bomber Ti-Cat game where Jeffcoat jumped offside but the play continued, and then the Cats were called for holding. Penalties offset despite the yardage difference in the fouls, and the play was a do-over.
  15. If Charles was bypassed and it went straight to William then they would still approve. The “Diana” after-effect.
  16. How my mind is working: If we take his statement at full face value, then logically he would have had these thoughts when the Jets (and every other team) first interviewed him. If the first thing he says is “you know, I’m not really interested in coaching at all” why take all the interviews, why come back for a second one in Winnipeg, and why drag it out for 2 months? Hard to imagine that he was excited to explore all of these options and then decide at the end of it “no I don’t want any of them but it just came to me”. And if he did disclose form the start, then a major screw-up on the Jets part to hold out and lose out on the other coaches who got snapped up in the interim waiting on a lost cause. If he is holding out for a better offer, then of course he’ll say the right things and how tough it is to turn down Winnipeg, but this team sure has had trouble holding on to players (and a coach) in the last 5 years, and it’s precisely this competitive disadvantage that helped make us also-fans in our first incarnation which led to dwindling fan interest and ultimately relocation. So if he pops up in another market 3 months into next season then I think the hard question of “what makes Winnipeg so unattractive to any real quality hockey people” has to be asked.
  17. So why do I expect him to take a job elsewhere once a firing occurs mid-season this upcoming year?
  18. Whoa, whoa! He already got inducted into the Hall of Fame this week, what are you trying to do to people around here?
  19. And the reduction of Miranda rights. Remind me again what race is the predominant one incarcerated in the US per capita? Justice Thomas also signalling in his concurring opinion overturning Roe that it now establishes a reason to examine other settled precedent that he deems wrongly decided based on his Constitutional interpretation. Specifically names cases that protect contraception, same sex relationships, and same sex marriage. Conveniently left out the Loving decision that allows and protects interracial marriage as being a prior decision on his hit list.
  20. I guess you missed yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling expanding gun rights.
  21. “We’ve got lots of theories. We just don’t have any evidence”.
