  1. Toronto had more than a little to do with causing those mistakes. Stuffing the run forced Collaros to go exclusively to the pass, and the pressure forced him to hurry throws. Tight coverage led to receivers not being on their game. By your logic, we beat Hamilton because of the mistakes they made, not because our defensive pressure forced Masoli into hurried throws and poor decisions, or our hard hitting secondary had nothing to do with the mistakes Banks made.
  2. Any coach will be better when they have talent. Don Matthews, Bill Belicheck et al have shown that time and again. But not all coaches with talent can go all the way. Dave Ritchie showed that. And right now there is an extremely low level of talent on Ottawa’s offence.
  3. COVID 19 is proving to be the grand champion of the Darwin Awards.
  4. The contract number in part is so that the Habs will be forced to max out on their cap (10% over the limit before the season starts) if they match, so Canes hoping that scares them off. But $6 million for a 20 point player once again shows that GMs just can’t keep out of their own way when it comes to destroying the league with runaway contracts.
  5. Bernie Ruoff will tell you that intoxication by any means will not negate your kicking ability. In fact, it may calm the nerves (if you can get past the munchies problem).
  6. There was also a veiled pro-Conservative slant in the article, wrapped up in generalities and a “if we can’t fix everything, why do anything?” mindset. Since vaccines don’t actually stop the transmission of COVID-19, then forced vaccination is pointless. Except they gloss over the fact that vaccinations reduce the severity of the illness if contracted, which leads to less hospitalizations and strain on the system, among other benefits. And the article starts with a jab at the NDP for promoting the mandatory vaccines and passports, saying it puts into question Singh’s entire ability to be a leader, and then concludes by saying the Ontario Conservatives seem to be taking the only rational approach. Hmm, almost sounds like there is an election going on and someone wants to take sides with a back door argument.
  7. Though I might step outside the box with this post to change the mood around here. Inspired by a post I saw on Twitter about being stuck in an elevator with your favourite NHLer and what you would ask them, someone came up with this beauty: ”If your mom and your girlfriend switched bodies and the only way to switch them back was to sleep with one of them, which one do you choose?” Got me in mind of other tricky questions that could be tough to answer, like: “If you had to know one, would you rather know the day you die or the way you die?” and ”If God is all powerful, can s/he make an immovable object?” Anyone want to propose answers or offer up any other questions for us to ponder life’s mysteries?
  8. Sunday’s game cannot come soon enough with all the cat fighting going on here lately.
  9. That price seems more in line for a 32 goal, 76 point average player, especially with his defensive skill. Ballpark is usually $100,000 per point in today’s NHL as a starting point to gauge a contract.
  10. Seems like an overpay for a 24 goal, 56 point average player.
  11. On the upside, if Rider fans don’t have proof of vaccination, they can’t get into IG Field for the Banjo Bowl.
  12. No, that thread (or the random video thread) is the place for anything heartwarming. I think the “non-political” add on was that anything political could be seen as negative just for the nature of the subject or the fact that depending on your political leaning it may be negative to you. Glad to see more cheerful posts, don’t let the technical glitch of re-creating an existing thread deter you. Restoring faith in humanity is always of interest. Simply a housekeeping reminder.
  13. So if you pick a Bomber they will lose and you’ll be blamed? If you pick a Stamp they will win and you will be blamed? If you pick a Rider you will lose since they aren’t playing? And if you don’t make any pick you’ll still get a strike as if you picked wrong? Reverse-reverse psychology?
  14. Bumping up this thread since it has lagged and some (correctly) feel we need more good news around here.
  15. Would it be too negative to point out that we already have a thread for this? Maybe it’s a sign that it has gone to page 2 on the topic page.
  16. I think both sides and multiple opinions have been presented and we aren’t going to find consensus on the topic. Game is over, we lost, penalty was called, player is injured, no fine was tacked on, and one thread has already been locked due to the escalation of words. Shall we move on before we hijack another thread?
  17. I was referring to a more general pattern than specifically the last game, but I will walk back that comment on him while he is off the roster.
  18. If that is the case, then it’s time to step for up the sake of the home team and pick a Stampeder. C’mon man, where’s your sense of loyalty????😁
  19. Bailey has had his struggles, and I can think of at least one if not two catchable passes he whiffed on in the last outing. But he is tied for the club lead in TD catches. And he was hardly alone in the subpar game against Toronto category. Lawler dropped one, and he has been our best receiver so far. Adams lost control of a crucial one near the goal line, and seemed more interested in jawing the Argos than just concentrating on playing. Demski seems to need to get involved early or else he becomes an afterthought. Wolitarsky has been virtually invisible so far this year. And Collaros was definitely off, and his best football this year is when he has been running for his life, not the preferred way to play QB (at least I think that is true, having never played or coached at a high level, maybe that is how the best offences are drawn up).
  20. You misunderstood my point. The point is, Alberta sucks!
  21. So Edmonton still screws me and my pick even when they don’t play. 0-6 between them and Calgary this year. Alberta sucks!
