Does anyone except me wonder why the heck the coaches didn't call a time out when the Hamilton blitzes were coming on every other play and fix whatever wasn't happening properly? Heck, that should have been done when the Bomber offence wasn't on the field (which was a lot).

In today's Freep Doug Brown held forth on this subject- apparently this vulnerability existed last year as well and teams exploited it to make life miserable for the Bomber QB's. Apart from O-line talent (or lack thereof) which coach bears the responsibility for this?

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yup. At some point, often-injured athletes have to think about their lives after football and whether they want to be able to go for walks with their kids and not be in pain every moment. -
As I've made clear I'm no fan of Brohm, but on the other hand, it could also be a credit to the coaching in Montreal for Cato's success by good game-planning, while Brohm's poor performance was based in the bad play-calling of our OC. Brohm was bad, but the plays he was forced to run were just awful too. We'd sure as spit better hope it was a spectacular, unexpected performance by a rookie quarterback. The alternative, that it was largely due to the Alouette coaches cooking up a really good game plan, means that we have a really inept coaching staff.

[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch And Fine Discussion
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Willy states that he was not unconscious at any point, he has total recall and in the interview, his affect is normal and his speech is linear, so he looks OK. Whether anything else will pop up during the week is anyone's guess, as is the decision as to if he will start or play next game. No doubt there will an abundance of caution. -
That's just the kind of comment that led to the demise (or near demise) of OB.com. Too many ppl who knew too much who took their ball to a "more knowledgeable" forum. Don't think so. I know why I gave up on "our bombers", and it had nothing to do with the people that were thinking they were more knowledgeable. I don't want to see a bunch of threads about "O'Stubborn" and some of the other silly stuff that proliferated in the last few days. And I'm not "knowledgeable" I have no problem accepting that there are people who know a lot more about football than I do. Fortunately there are quite a few of them posting at this site. I appreciate reading the opinions of people that know something about what they're discussing. How anyone here can know whether or not Mike O'Shea is stubborn is beyond me. Well said! I don't mind new posters at all. But when you start a thread and it's very title is essentially an insult to the HC of the team whose forum you're on. Well I wouldn't expect a lot of positive replies. Also it's friggin weak 2. It certainly was.

You talking about the "erotic" blitz's? Sort of. If we introduced nudity for our O-line, it would probably distract onrushing players but you would have to stick with shotgun snaps for the center or else....
-
Perhaps we could try Gbill's suggestion and introduce a more....physical approach by our D-linemen and linebackers.
-
There will be no credible excuse for the Bombers losing to Montreal, if it comes to that. A loss would mean at least a couple of new faces in the lineup shortly thereafter accompanied by the sound of cracking ice under our head coach's feet.
-
Few here are asking that a dozen or so Bomber players be dragged out into the street and shot (just yet). Most are saying that we were out-played, out-coached and out-worked against Hamilton, and we do not want to have a replay of each of the past 6 years or so.

When does attendance dip on a consistent basis?
Tracker replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The real question is: how many teams have gotten their butts kicked this year so far? -
The Riders are in the same position as the Alouettes and Argonauts were, and the Bombers and Esks find themselves in. Toronto and Montreal have found ways to win without their #1 pivots, and now we are going to find out what the Bombers, Esks and Riders are made of.
-
That assumes that the team is ready to be weaned.
-
Everything you described is about taking a decent quarterback (Cato) and quickly devising a game plan to make the most of his abilities and take away Calgary's strengths. We are going to find out whether our brain trust can do the same, and that will be against Montreal. Brohm's experience ought to offset Cato's apparent superior skills, so if we lose, its all on the coaches. And rightfully so..
-
It will probably take a half-season for the players to get used to the new rules and for the receivers to find new ways to draw penalties.
-
I think the more frustrating part was that Brohm had him on 2 deep balls... which were promptly under-thrown Apparently if you don't have first team offense reps it automatically weakens your arm by 35% leaving you unable to throw a deep ball! With the backup QB, You also automatically lose 66% of the ability to pick up the blitz. Our starting quarterback and offensive line weren't doing so well, either. what is 66% less than zero?

Mocking Rod Black is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Sounds like it would make a helluva Monty Python sketch, right up there with the 10k run for the incontinent.

Hamilton was impressive in their first game, we had film and a pre-season on them so how much did that help?Apparently, not so much.

I'm not sure if "erotic blitzes" would be approriate for a family-oriented Bomber audience. Would that involve nudity, verbal suggestions to distract Bomber O-linemen or deep, lustful gazes?
