  1. Too early to anoint Cato as the heir to Calvillo, but apparently Cato had a grand total of one week to learn the playbook and his teammates, so that tells me that O'Shea's excuse for Brohm's sub-par performance Thursday that Brohm didn't have enough reps is verging on an insult to the intelligence of fans.
  2. This comes down to whether Hurl has been doing his job, and the game replays ought to tell the coaches all they need to know about that. Hammy's running was mostly outside, so I do not think that is Hurl's turf, but who knows?
  3. Oh yeah that's right..so he calls running plays and they don't succeed against a hot Hamilton defence...you and most others would be up his ass for calling running plays when they are so far behind. Almost every offensive coordinator calls passing plays to try and get back in the game...that's the only way to try and score quickly! They had 3 Q's to try to catch up or at least keep pace and it was obvious that the pass only approach was not working and rarely does. Time is not their biggest problem if they aren't being productive. I would like to see the Bombers revert to a default strategy when the O is struggling in an attempt to stabilize the situation. This would put less emphasis on the QB's talents and focus on the running game by playing Cotton, Marshall and a FB at the same time pounding the ball down the field. A blitz intensive team like Hamilton could be vulnerable to this attack especially if Cotton can break through the first line into the secondary. Hopefully over time this attack would loosen up the passing lanes so that they could return to a more balanced attack once the reeling stopped. A positive side effect would be giving the D more time off the field to rest and regroup. Agreed. A solid running game means that the opposing D-line cannot pin their ears back on every play and charge the QB. Moreover, with at least one of the linebackers coming on every down, that ought to open up lots of room once the back clears the line.
  4. If our defence plays the same against Montreal as it did against Hamilton, Tommy Chong at quarterback could win.
  5. I actually agree with this fully. Brohm isn't good at all but he wasn't the reason we got destroyed If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
  6. Who's calling for O'Shea to name names in public? He does need to show the fans that he is as upset by that pathetic performance as they are. Every team will lose games, but good teams that have playoff aspirations don't get their butts kicked up and down their home field and put up little or no resistance.
  7. I get that you are royally PO'd at Bellefeuille, but even though the only way Brohm will get into the CFL Hall of Fame will be as a paying visitor, does the O-line coach not deserve to flogged publicly?
  8. I'm expecting at least a two-game absence for Willy. With the mammoth lawsuit against the CFL, there will no taking even a remote chance if Willy is not absolutely 100%.
  9. He was obviously embarrassed and rightly so. This is his way of dealing with the embarrassing truth. He much contrition do you need? He said the D will improve and they will take all necessary steps. That is all. I don't need anything more from him. I don't need my head coach to be contrite. I just thought it was funny. We have SNL and the Comedy Network for humour. A coach who gets embarrassed at home like that by his indifferent players ought to be fuming.
  10. And watching Cato playing for Montreal makes me sick. He is everything we want Brohm to be and isn't. Maybe Marve isn't, either, but by the time he gets to show his stuff in a starting role, O'Shea may be up to his butt in aligators and planning his off-season job search..
  11. A "we want Marve!" chant last night says it all I think. Is Brohm Bellefeuille's Boltus 2.0? I think so. I can't really understand how anyone could possibly defend Brohm's performace last night, he just has no tools whatsoever it seems like. If Marve has first team reps this week and playcalls are designed to his strengths he may definitely surprise. The QBs have to be put on the field to show their worth, look at Cato tonight. He's killing it in Calgary. There's nothing worse than watching CFL coach stubbornness who go with their guys through thick and thin no matter how poorly they perform. This is the way it is with O'Shea, in the post game interview he said that they would give as many reps. as possible to Brohm as #2 just as they did Willy last year. Translation: Until Brohm is injured and unable to continue Marve is not getting playing time regardless of the score. I fear that you are right. UGH. We could be in next year country by the August long weekend.
  12. Intent is not in the definition of the foul. He did it. Period. It would be tempting to say that one of our players ought to have laid a big illegal/dirty hit on Collaros, but these guys know that such a hit could cripple the hittee, and they would have to live with that. Darryl Stingley, anyone? There is no excuse for the hit, or the lack of penalty on the play and there will be no excuse if the Commissioner does nothing about this.
  13. Fans are understandably upset- Calgary, Hamilton and even Toronto have proven that you can completely retool a laughable CFL team into a contender in two years or less.
  14. Now which linebacker would look good behind that D-line performance last night?
  15. For starters, it was a horribly inept game for almost every Bomber player and coach, but lets not over-react just yet. Surely to God, this edition cannot be as bad as they looked last night, so lets wait two more games before we start rolling heads. That said, there are some glaring deficiencies in Brohm's game- no arm, slow as a glacier when he runs and he telegraphs his plays. And dammit, we ought to have been able to counter the 6 and 7 player rushers after a play or two.
  16. I find O'Shea's comment about Willy being tough and therefore able to bounce right up offensive. The brain is pretty much a bowl of Jello with a bit of fat mixed in randomly. WTF does "tough " have to do with a blow and rebound impact on such an organ???
  17. Rewind to first quarter: Willy had a good first series but his identified inablity to deal with blitzes became evident again. This would have resulted in his getting pounded again and agin even if he did not get sidelined by a dirty hit. The O-line was at least as confused as Willy for the first half- where the he11 is our O-line coaching. The DBs were supposed to be the best part of the defence and were not. The D-line and linebackers were no better than last season and maybe even worse. Kallif Mitchell is starting to look good. Brohm is going to get O`Shea fired and from all the new (to the CFL) faces we brought in, not one has looked like a starter except maybe Marshall, and he was here last year. I`m really getting tired of promises with no delivery.
  18. AKA: the resistable force meeting the moveable object.
  19. I see Hamilton as a much better balanced team than Sask, and certainly better coached. Maybe even better coached than the Bombers.
  20. I think the Bombers may be in trouble tonight. Hammy appears to have a solid running game and our front 7 did not look good last week. Collaros has looked good for some time now and Willy will have to be at least as good. I think the game will decided by the D-lines.
  21. Still and all, it is very encouraging news for the Bombers. Loud, proud and multitudinous.
  22. http://www.stampeders.com/article/nifty-5050 Wow - three years without a job? I thought Alberta was the land of plenty...yikes. Feel good story though, glad this family won the prize. Also glad that they can still make it to Stamps games and support the CFL, despite their personal hard-ships. Die-hard CFL fans! For the past four years, Alberta (and southern Alberta in particular) has had the highest personal debts and personal bankruptcies in Canada. Good on this family- they sound that they really, really needed the money.
  23. Agreed. With Leggett back, the d-backs ought to be able to contain the Hammy passing attack, but the game against Sask showed that the Bomber lineacking is vulnerable to an outside running game. So, the outside linebackers better be prepared to get on their horses early. If the Db's have to start hugging the line to stop the run, we are gonna get killed by Fantuz and company.
  24. Nah. If Troy decided to go to Regina, he would then have to buy a banjo and find a reasonably attractive female relative to live with. Since when has this been a prerequisite? How about one that only chews her cud at night... To a Saskatchewanite, they are the one and same thing.
