Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They have two kickers named Palardy now... the other being an American named Michael. Get ready to hear that fact about 300 times during the next Argo game. Can you imagine if Rod Black is calling the game! No. I refuse to. Its bad enough having to endure him let alone pre-traumatizing myself. -
what available coach would you hire?
Tracker replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You are ignoring what I see as key aspects: O'Shea presumably chose his assistant coaches and at least three have proven to be very poor choices. What makes you think he will choose better given another opportunity? He took two months to mull over whether to fire an obviously horrible defensive coach before he pulled the trigger, and then there are his really poor assessments of his quarterbacks and choices of game personnel. Add these up and it sure as spit looks like we need a new head coach. -
Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit

Bottom line: Muamba can chase the NFL dream if he chooses to. We can give a spit or not if we so choose. This has gone on too long and bringing him on board with a fat bonus just to have him bail next year just isn't worth it. Moving on...... -

There are few Kent Austins or Huffers out there, so I think there is a good case to be made for Tom Higgins as head coach. Look at the sad-sack team he led last year to the playoffs with as bad an assortment of QBs as we had. -
Do I detect a hint of fatalism here?

I seem to recall that damned few of the American franchise owners actually paid their franchise fees. One of the few was the chap who owned the Sacramento/Baltimore teams.

A choice of Yugo, Trabant or Lada.
-
I would see expansion teams in the London, Ontario area and Quebec city before any half-baked US expansion. It was a disaster last time that nearly sank the league.
-
Considering our dim prospects for finishing the year with a decent record, you'd think O'Shea would load up the linebacking to stop Cornish. We really have two choices for the rest of the season: either play for respect or start auditioning people for next year. This roster juggling does not fit either scenario and appears to be another highly questionable move by O'Shea.

Ticketmaster all out? Why pay full price? And people got mad at me when I called Winnipeggers cheap. If it's not on sale not interested! It's the city motto. Are people in Calgary idiots who actively look for the highest price possible? That is a distinct possibility.

GASP! I'm shocked and bored at the same time. -

Danny Barrett wasn't a bad coach but he alienated the media and then the fans when things got rough. As far as O'Shea's butt being saved by Willy getting hurt is concerned, that scenario didn't save Chamblin in Regina and Chamblin didn't make as many big mistakes as O'Shea has. Moreover, if Walters bails, O'Shea has to be a goner. -
Plus he's at the top of his athletic years, and there are always lots of promising, younger, cheaper prospects.

Bombers now with MOS like Jets with Noel ...
Tracker replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
As the HC, I would expect him to correct that immediately, not let it drag on, we are at game 13 coming up. Also the quote in the paper from the Bomber player calling out the special teams guys for not selling out on those returns. The players clearly aren't buying in to the snake oil being offered to them. The players not buying into a coaches game plan on special teams reflects on players not listening.. Id liked to have seen this weeks ST practice sessions to see what exactly was believed to have gone wrong.Only one practice this week. O'Shea wanted the players rested. Good thing they will be rested. I can recall how well they played in the game after the bye week. Maybe they can repeat that performance. -

Lets not count our Henocs before they're rostered. -
There are a lot of signals being given by this team that they have very low expectations.

O'Shea believes Bombers better than their record

It could be worse- imagine being an old fart who doesn't get worked up about anything. -
O'Shea believes Bombers better than their record
Tracker replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Perhaps there is a definition of competitive that we can agree on: for me, competitive means that the team is no less than .500 over a season and are still in the game at half-time. I could accept "incredibly competitive" as being no less than .500 and being no less than 6 points down at game's end and in a position to win at the end of the third quarter. -
O'Shea believes Bombers better than their record
Tracker replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It appears that with Willy back and everything working, this team is able to flirt with a .500 record, but in its present condition, its about a 5 and 13 group. -
If there is such a process, it is either restricted to egregious incidents or at random. The hit on JFG was only one example of deliberate intent that has gone unaddressed.
-
All games ought to be reviewed afterwards for evidence of helmet-to-helmet and intent to injure incidents. The CFLPA ought to be pushing for this- it is often marginal players going after the star players and the league needs all the high-profile players it can get.

ANOTHER BLOWOUT loss to a last place team
Tracker replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I believe he was referring to the attitude of some of the players and/or their on-field performances and that the coach or coaches are doing nothing about it. If the coaches are not the bosses, who is? -

ANOTHER BLOWOUT loss to a last place team
Tracker replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That Newman chose to speak out says volumes about how cohesive the team is and how much faith players have in the coaches. Anyone who has worked in a place where some of the people were obviously goofing off will know how corrosive that is. It is the job of management/supervision to thin out the herd of those who are unwilling to earn their keep. If the bosses are not doing their jobs, soon everyone is into "screw-it" mentality. Then the workplace descends to the lowest common denominator. -
Odds and Sods - Game 12 Blue Bombers at Montreal Als
Tracker replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I am by no means a football maven, but if the ball takes an extra quarter-second to get to the QB, it shouldn't be critical.
