Dieter Brock - Next Ring of Honour Inductee
IIRC, Brockballs around in th made it clear that he was NFL-bound as soon as possible, so they got what they could for him. He built up his arms by tossing shot-put balls in the off-season, but he was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He was one of the highest-rated NFL QBs before he got hurt- his back I think, and was never the same afterwards.

Well, they elected Brian "the best to all the infidels" Pallister as their leader, didn't they?

Grey Cup Halftime Show Announced
Still hoping for nude limbo contest with a flaming cross-bar.

Banjo Bowl
I am still not sold on Bass as a MLB. He was great as an outside linebacker but even though he has been getting better, he is still roadkill on too many running plays. Messam is going to demolish him.

Some traditions are so deep-seated that they persist.

Banjo Bowl
I predict that this will be one of the most heart-attack inducing, stressful Banjo Bowls of all time. The Bombers will have a very loud, very partisan sellout crowd who will be hoping for, but afraid to really expect a drubbing of the lowly Riders. We have had so many disappointments at IGF that it is hard to assume that this game will be in the bag.

Sadly, its option one.

A good deal of southern Alberta was settled by Americans who came after their civil war, thinking they could have slaves here after the practice was banned in the US. The first premier of Alberta was the grandson of one of these. These ex-pat Americans were resentful of any further government interference in their lives and choices- we would call them rednecks now. And BTW: in all the Old West America, Dodge City, Laramie, Tombstone, etc, guns had to be checked in at the Sheriff's office before they could hit the local taverns.

Chris Jones Post Game
Lets remember that there is no way that Jones is going to get fired unless he violates a morals clause- his contract is just too rich to carry and the Riders are still on the hook for 2017 paying Taman and Chambliss (who must look pretty good to the Rider fans by now). Jones' attitude has to be poisoning his relationships with the refs as well. No good news in Riderville, and the vets there with pride are going to start giving up soon.

The positive thread
Bombers did not play their best game and still squeaked out a win where the team usually loses and loses ugly. I expect a nasty game next Saturday.

Red Zone: FG's are NOT enough
What has not been talked about in this thread is the effect the constantly changing cast of receivers is having on the passing game. Some QBs and receivers have instant chemistry, but others take time to develop, and the difference between a reception and incomplete or intercepted passes is very small sometimes. It would be very nice to have the same set of receivers for 2-3 games and maybe then our red-zone performance might improve.

Maybe he can ask pretty please would Tommy Higgins come to his house to play.

Red Zone: FG's are NOT enough
Seemed off in the first half, but better in the second. The drops by the receivers were tough catches for the most part.
