Guard is a funny position. It’s way more about grit, nastiness, and low to the ground leverage than the finesse required at T C. 
 
 I’ll also add that I think it was the side by side combo of gray and kola that was bad. Previously gray next to other centres was a much better guard. You can have 1 guy on the line you cover for. Can’t have two. Damn sure can’t have them side by side. 
 Couture made a lot of guys alot better.

That's the most baffling aspect, kept Kola who plays at the edge of his abilities and lost Gray who has unlimited physical abilities plus versatility.

More like ran it back for two years then ran it and fumbled on the 1 for the other two.
The better team prevailed on those days but it still pisses me off that we weren't able to close out those other two Cups.

Haven’t heard one way or the other about Clements, but he’s another guy I’d like to see them bring back. He’s been steadily improving. 

My guess is Wilson/Biggie/Kramdi with Cole rotating in as a DI for the first two.

I was once told by a very wise coach that when leaving an organization it's best to leave in a good frame of mind....Burning bridges do not do a thing except disconnect you from the great things that happened for you....Thinking back, there are a few players that have said things that they wish they never uttered....Deiter Brock was one that comes to mind when he 'slagged' Winnipeg with his comments...He said awhile ago that he regrets the comments but once said they're out there and hard to take back.....JJ is not in a good frame of mind and it's understandable...What really irks me is toads like Friezen who lap that kind of thing up and exploit the situation for cheap journalism...

Generally the agent is gonna reach out by Xmas...or shortly after... especially if team hasn't contacted you...or mentioned any plans
Also...pretty much across the board if you are hearing crickets it's an understanding that team is moving on...or you low on the initial priority list...again that's when an agent should be touching base.
I see this as a spin by Friesen to stir up stuff...and as others mentioned I have seen first hand them at practice .. absolutely ignoring all that went on...then asking who looked good ..what went on...then write a piece for next day with "their thoughts" 

Former GM at Atlanta from 2008 to 2020. His father was a former CFL Assistant & U Sports HC in Ontario. He started his scouting & admin career in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before moving on to the NFL. The reality is that the CFL is looked down upon by NFL media & fans. If O'Shea did get hired as HC by some piss poor NFL team, the first time they'd go on an extended losing streak or have some kind of controversy with the roster, etc... the deathwatch would start. He'd get no chance to turn a team around before he'd be fired.
Look how short of a time it took for Marc Trestman to be fired as Head Coach of the Bears. One season. And before he came to the CFL he was a long time NFL assistant & qb coach in the NFL. Even though he had a long career in the NCAA as well as the NFL before he came north to the Als, he was always referred to as the coach from the CFL.
O'Shea has none of that pedigree & I think he'd be in for a rough ride on a very bumpy short career road in the NFL. He's forged quite a path in the CFL already & he's still in his early 50's. He may someday make a choice to pursue an NFL HC gig but the answer is why??

I personally wouldn’t make that argument in regards to players like Harris and Jeffcoat. If there was a plan to move on, they deserve a phone call at some point in the months between season end and Free Agency.
That said, both players admitted there was a contract offer. It was just much lower and later than expected. And, when dealing with a long-time starter, I think it’s reasonable to expect some back and forth communication if there is hesitation on the clubs part.
But again, I’m not taking sides. I certainly am not going to take the word of a semi-disgruntled player over that of Kyle Walters; but there are two incidences now of players complaining of this lack of communication on the way out. So I think it’s fair game to discuss.

Agreed. The Best DE ,we have seen ,in a long time. Wish him all the best in future endeavors. Too bad, A ****** like Friesen has to put a negative slant on everything.

You're reading way too much into that.  I said the right price - meaning whatever works for the team.
While I would like to see a proven DT like Baron brought in, I doubt it happens as DT is clearly a spot Walters isn't willing to overpay for since we've let one walk year after year (Stove, Sayles & now Walker). 

Awe and Lawrence should both get permanently blacklisted from the CFL. Both are dirty douchecanoes.

Anyone who's got the pride and drive to succeed at this level is gonna have serious feelings when the day comes to shut er down.  His onfield contributions are what matters to me, not his exit interview.

I remember reading anti-Bomber Friesen articles in the Sun in the break room at Sobeys 20 years ago. Consistent hack.

Friesen is just so lazy. He's completely unprepared to push back on anything anyone says. He just writes it down. No wonder he had no idea Strev was coming back, as no one trusts him. He just mails it in. 

I think he viewed him self as Willy’s equal. But Willy plays a hell of a lot more football every year, and his pass knock downs impact offenses on a whole other level. 
 Reality is a harsh thing. No bad blood for me, I’ve loved his play and defended him his whole career. Fact is, he under achieved his potential despite being a beast. Jj should be a hofer. He’s that damn good. Instead Jake Thomas might pass him in career sacks. 
 
JJ should stay calm and in shape. Might be a call from some one like lemon mid season. 
That’s the real disrespect. Friesen uses JJ as a soap box to write yet another crappy negative article.
