Okay, maybe saying he "**** on the CFL" bordered on the ridiculousl. For that, I was wrong. I absolutely agree with your take, though The CFL is a league that just doesn't get why it isn't even mentiobned in a Toronto fan poll. The coaches & admin cap along with the rookie salary cap have to go. Why three years for Canadians & just two for Americans? These rules are strangling the CFL & not allowing for any kind of growth to take place. It also makes the CFL look bush league. Especially in Toronto, Calgary & Edmonton where fan support is apathetic. No exponential growth will happen until the league & the new Commish fix these meat & potato issues.

Yes, there has been a serious lack of talk about what Jake had for breakfast lately.

Actions speak louder than words. He DOES NOT want to be here. Don't be surprised if we trade his rights to the Argos or Ti Cats for a bag of footballs.

What the hell are you talking about. He hasn't said anything negative about the CFL. He's just trying to land a spot down south.

Why are you knocking a future hall of famer?
  6. Haha
Yeah but what do people think he should be doing with his life? We should fill a 3rd thread with comments about him just to be sure
  7. Agree
I will say again, too many people have entirely too much thought invested in a guy who is at best a prospect.
When he actually shows up the ln let's start investing time and effort into thinking of him, until then he really is a non-factor.

We have last year's UFL MVP coming to camp, that's how much lighting it up in the UFL is worth.

It would take a lot of injuries. There are a crap load of former 2nd, 3rd, and PR QBs currently out of work that would get the call ahead of him. Heck last year the NFL even pulled Rivers out of retirement before they would look down their depth charts and FA's. Injuries is not a viable way into the NFL for Elgersma.

Yep. I love what jy and hall, but that is pretty much the only stretch of time we had that consistent disruption/pressure. Haven’t had great personnel on the dl over that time, but we also haven’t developed or made use of guys in that time.
I hope hall and thomas focus on the dl and disruption while jy runs coverage. we’ve seen hall run some brilliant front concepts when he’s had the horses.

My hypothetical DC resume would just be me screaming a quote from Remember The Titans “YOU BLITZ, ALLLLL NIGHT LOOONNNNG”
So yeah, hanging on to my day job probably the wise move…

3 on 3 arcade hockey for an Olympic gold is the dumbest thing ever

And you give me a confused emoji on not liking the way Cuthbert calls a hockey game? Sheesh.

you can, but blitzing is hard and strange in the cfl.
The more guys you have that are reliable in coverage, like you said, you can do any ting and every thing better.
D today is all about how well you can blanket with out breaking, and how well you can disrupt at the line. If a guy isn’t one of those or a guy who heavily enables others to do that easier, they aren’t an asset on the field. Just a body filling a spot.
If you can take away over the top routes with out a massive bubble, you can run up and play the ball or the man and disrupt the pass too.
Guys who can do both are worth their weight in championship rings. Guys like ba, biggie, and wj in their prime.
jy/hall love versatile cover guys. Makes every one’s life much easier
I wouldn’t be surprised if we find another db this year. We got lots of good vets, but we scout db and use them really well.

Second and long. 5 DBs, bring the house!
It was at the point where every commentator was noticing it, but opposing O's still had no answer for it.
I DON'T WANT A RECEIVER...TO CROSS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE!

I’d bring the house on every second play hence why i call plays from my couch and not on the sidelines.

I think you can count on the Bombers not running a smurf at boundary corner this year.
They've got Allen plus 5 other guys 6'1 plus, two with CFL experience, coming into camp at DB.
No more watching a 5'9 guy with no ability to play the ball eat **** on 50-50 balls vs 6'3-6'4 receivers.

Absolutely. It's a brutal sport, if you can't get paid what you feel you're worth, hang them up.

i think we could be a very good pressure defense with four & five man fronts stopping the run & sacking the qb. I think we expose our defense to big plays if Jordan Younger runs a 3 man front & blitzes.
We saw it with Detroit with four man fronts in the NFL playoffs 2 years ago. They ate the other team's OL & spit them out. We saw it in the Super Bowl with Seattle vs the left side of the Pats OL. Pressure & intimidation wins all the time.
We had a pressure front 4/5 in 2019 & 21. We were physically scary & dominated to the point the overhyped Ti Cats just quit in 2019. They were beaten & broken team. Oh & look, we also won two championships those years. Then we changed Defensive Coordinators & went to a 3 man front with no pressure from the DL. Wbbfan called it a Cheetah front. i called it Cheetos. Yeah, we didn't give up a lot of points as the back 8 or 9 played well. No coincidence we also didn't win & lost 3 straight Grey Cups.
If the Bombers had signed another interior DL in free agency, I'd have said they're invested in creating havoc up front like in 2019 & 21. I don't think Younger is that kind of DC. He wants to beat you through trickery & disguises on the back end. I'm not a big fan of that type of defense. I want smash mouth football where we own both sides of the LOS. Havoc & intimidation. It's more than proven to work.

It's funny to be the NFL got so upset at the NFLPA for their member body grading the teams, but the NFL doesn't have any issue trotting out independent people grading players performance on a play by play basis (PFF) and having their broadcast partners blast it all over their coverage.
I don't think its reasonable to expect anyone to be able to parlay a career in the CFL to 7 or 8 million dollars... once he is off his ELC he'd be 27... so it would take 10 years @ 700K AAV to get him to 7 million... and that is if one of a million different things that could go wrong to derail a career doesn't go wrong. To project someone who spent 4 years in CIS ball and had one half decent NFL preseason game to end up the highest paid CFL player ever post US-Expansion seems... pie in the sky at best.
