i'm inclined to agree. I certainly don't "hate" Mack for his approach to the draft, though the parting shots from Miller & Walters suggest otherwise.

Still, I just don't see CIS drafting as our team's (and Mack's) Achilles heel....More like an atrocious approach to Free Agency (brought to you by Nyquil) and zero success at fixing the QB.

Oh, and cost cutting guys that never really made sense (Kent). And of course, firing coaches at the absolute worst time and then letting the team disintegrate under Burke after that.

Other than that, Mack was great. ;-)

Previous regimes? How long you gonna keep humming that tune??? Mack was in charge for part of 3 seasons & took part in 3 CFL drafts. He''s the reason we suck at the Canadian positions. On top of our lack of Canadian talent, he hired LaPo, fired laPo & hired Tim Burke to replace  him which was an unmitigated disaster right from the start. Really not all that pathetic??? That's unbelievable. The Mack nightmare is finally over.

After watching the bits of the press conference on the bomber website I really do think that the reason Miller went with Walters is because he liked what he did this year when he got the job on a temporary basis. There is obviously a reason that Walters went from ST coach to draft guy to AGM as quick as he did. There has to be something there that people see in him that lead them to believe that he can do the job. Yeah he's a rookie and got no experience, but that doesn't mean he's bad at the job, it remains to be seen how good he is.

Walters may not have the track record, but if you don't think that he's regarded as an up and coming football ops guy by people in and around the CFL, then you're mistaken.

The flaw in the logic is that Walters was already AGM here under a previous regime.  I get what you're saying, and I think the optics of this hire are pretty darn bad myself, but I do not subscribe to the theory Walters is just some schmuck.

Maybe he wanted to relocate the Bombers to the moon and Wade wasn't sure the travel costs would be manageable for road games.

I voted no, when a guy like Higgins withdraws his name, you know the game was rigged from the start.....same old BS as always. I used to laugh at the people who thought that until the BOD was cleansed or another oversight body elected that things would never change, it appears they were right all along.

You know that's not true. Guys like Friesen are just trolls and will always spin things as negative as possible. Mark my words, when the Bombers next win the Grey Cup Friesens article is going to be titled "All Down Hill From Here"

I like what Walters had to say too.  I hope he can follow through with it.  I don't expect the fans to give him much leeway, just because he is new to the GM chair.  The fans expect a winning team and that's Walters job to create.  Getting to a .500 season next year would be a huge win for the all rookie management team IMHO.

Look, let's be honest here. Unless the Board has gone under total lockdown since Wade arrived -- which it hasn't, since the reporters have been tweeting about Khari, O'Shea, etc -- we didn't hear about a SINGLE interview being conducted for GM.

Does that mean there weren't discussions or phone calls or even actual interviews being done that were kept 100% under wraps? Sure, it's possible.

    Just highly unlikely.

So yes, time to move on. Walters is GM, Wade is the big chair. Fair business. But as fans we have every right to be critical of the process.

Miller: I want my friend Khari.

Walters: I think O'Shea would be better.

(Sound of rummaging through a desk drawer)

    Walters: What are you doing?

Miller: Just looking for that interim tag I stripped off your job title. I know I have it here somewhere.

    Walters: I really like Khari.

Experienced people can see the cluster-truck and would want full autonomy before they would be the least bit interesting in our GM job.  Knowing you have to keep Walters on and that he has the ear of the CEO, isn't going to attract the best candidates.  I heard during Grey Cup week that a couple of experienced folks even turned the Bombers requests for interviews down.

Nope.  I wanted someone with experience, and no 6 months as assistant GM + 3 months as Interim GM isn't enough.

Good luck to Walters though.  He is going to need it with a full rebuild coming and no one to mentor him.

I like Walters a lot.  Still not happy that they hired the guy in the next closest office once again.  Thinking maybe I'll hang around the stadium a lot this year, probably be promoted to assistant GM.

I go to the Grey Cup every year....I don't even know the total.  I took my daughter this year, she's 22 and this was her 11th Grey Cup.  I sometimes take her, sometimes my sons, often my father, and sometimes my wife wants to go.   I'm a Grey Cup vet, and I have a true love for our game.  I've been to the Grey Cup in every CFL city except Hamilton.  (I Include Ottawa, as I was at the 2004 Grey Cup there, which was super)  I've been to multiple Grey Cups in most cities.  I offer the following opinions on this year's event:

    The Good:
The fans immediately around us were good fans (even though they were all green)  We held decent football conversations with them.  They were good natured and we enjoyed meeting them.   The weather was better than anticipated.  Fortunately, we were protected from the wind in our seats, so it was quite warm.  The wind had some impact on the game, but for outdoors on the prairies, it was okay.   We got a good parking spot and were able to get to the stadium efficiently and also to exit quickly.  We walked about 1.5 km, which is fine.   The half time show was decent.  Much better performer than last year's. (I'm not a fan of the Beibs)
    The Bad:
Some very rude/obnoxious Rider fans as we were leaving after the game.  I understand that they are the minority, but obnoxious winners are much worse than sore losers.    Game production was substandard to virtually every other Grey Cup I've been too.  It just seemed to be run by amateurs.  This was also evident in the botched player introductions. It looked second rate.   It also really felt like a local only event.  Many of the sponsors were local, and gave local prizes.  Even the good things, like large donations to charity that were announced, were all local....so a business guy in a Rider jersey presenting a cheque to a local charity rep in a Rider jersey.    Nothing was national.  To me, at the Grey Cup, it should be a guy in a suit presenting a cheque to a national organization.  It should recognize the whole league.   Price/value.  300.00 to sit in a semi-temporary endzone seat and be restricted to limited temporary food services and porta-potties.  Really?  For that price, you should at least be able to access the main facilities.   The game wasn't competitive, but that just happens sometimes.
    The Ugly
The lack of hotel rooms.  I decided to drive to Regina for the game, and drive back afterwards, so as to keep my attendance record in tact.  I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in staying in a trailer/RV park, and I'm not comfortable billeting with strangers.  I normally go to Grey Cup on Thursday and attend events for a few days, and return on Monday.  In Regina, this isn't possible as the rooms were sold out prior to the game being officially announced.  It's not just the lack of hotel rooms that is the concern, but the effect on everything else.  Grey Cup is usually a national celebration, where you see many fans from all of the teams in pubs, restaurants and shops around town.  This Grey Cup wasn't that way, it was a Rider home game, with very little out of town representation.   The entrances to the stadium.  We arrived at the stadium at 3:45 for a 5:00 start.  We were directed to the North entrance and lined up for 15 minutes to the north east side of the north entrance.  When we finally got near the entry point an official came and said to all of us in line that we had to "go to the line coming in from the south west.  (directing us down a packed back alley).  By the time we got to the end of that line it took another 1 hour and 15 minutes to gain access to the ticket check point that we had previously been to.   With all of the temporary seating that they put in, they didn't account for enough ticket takers/access points.  We passed by 4-5 locked gates that easily could have been made to be entry points, so it was really just poorly thought out.  We finally got to our seats at 5:15, an hour and a half after arriving at the stadium.  1st Grey Cup I've every been too that I didn't have at least 1 beer, as I couldn't bring myself to stand in 2 more lines to get one  (you have to line up at one to by a token, and a second to get the beer)    Brutal start, and it really did sour our impression of the event. I'm not sure if I'd attend a Grey Cup in Regina again, and for me, that is a sad statement.  I am still a great fan of the game and the league.  I'll reconsider after they get a new stadium....but still worry about the hotel situation there.

I'll be booking my hotel for Vancouver 2014 very soon, as that city is just better equipped to host the game.

Well this is the only good thing to happen to the ticats in ages so yeah I'd expect that, but that don't make me hate Henry Burris any less. The fact that he's playing the riders in saskatchewan is the only thing that makes me want to see the riders lose. As much as I hate Burris I hate the ******** mob in saskatchewan even more.
My absolute favourite Grey Cup moment was sitting in the stands in Calgary seeing and feeling every single rider fan in attendance have their soul absolutely destroyed by the too many men penalty. I am hoping for a similar result here.
