  1. Edmonton and Calgary will likely regress somewhat. SK will be significantly better -- likely scrapping with the two Alberta teams for a top playoff spot. BC should improve with Wally, marginally. As for us. If Drew stays upright, I see us getting a road playoff game and getting summarily roasted. Huge progress. So stoked.
  2. Anyone else in the league, if they had the opportunity, would do the exact same thing. People can criticize us all they want, but why shouldn't we hire all those coaches from Edmonton? There is no strict rule regarding this, so there is no reason to complain about it. I do think that CFL teams should have to adhere to some type of front office/ coaching cap. Yeah, yeah, I've heard the arguments -- business owners should be free to spend what they want, save the cap for the on-field only, blah blah. But this is the CFL. It's perpetually a season or two away from extinction. In fact, its already awash in apathy, at least in area codes like 416, 905, and 604. The more parity in the league, the better.
  3. Yep I believe the good DR.CFL called this one a couple days ago before anyone in media was talking about it Indeed good call. I hate to say it, but i LOVE what's going on in Saskatchewan right now. Yep. Next year they will contend, following year likely win it all. Must be nice
  4. Wow, SASK got good fast. We should nab Smith. Walters needs help.
  5. Pleased with the hire. I think he's the best guy realistically available. Its just sad that Walters can't find players.
  6. Khari and Miller are old friends and business partners. Job is his for the taking. Im sure Westwood will appear as a kicking consultant too.
  7. Cortez is the best for the job. But it won't end well as our receivers are slow and underwhelming. We're also completely hooped if (or when, considering the protection) Willy goes down, as our back up QB's are as ghastly as our O-line. Georgie is just gonna love #TheWaltersEffect.
  8. Yeah, but we have the Miller-Walters-O'Shea Flaming Hoop Of Mediocrity. The other franchises may be question marks, but our missing the playoffs again is basically guaranteed.
  9. Our coaching is mediocre. But our talent is way below average. If we dump Walters and hire Murphy we are instantly better. But thats not the Bomber way. #friendsfirst
  10. Man, I hope we can get Walters inked to something long-term. Would hate to lose him to a bitter rival when we're so, so close to winning the big prize.
  11. Lapo is a very good OC. Actually might even be ready to be HC again. But he would be crazy come here with the lame talent pool we have here. Need a GM that can find football players first.
  12. Bank on it. Guarantee the rumblings about "Wade reaching out to coaches still under contract" was in fact Wade talking to Khari. Probably said "it's not tampering, we own a Booster Juice together." Not saying he isn't a step up over MB, but still. Why does this have to be the Bomber way?
  13. Miller was the epitome of a nepotism hire. Local boy, Bomber alumni, son of a Bomber (and former board member). Doesn't make him incapable of doing the job. Just shows how the franchise operates. The fact that Miller did the "exhaustive search" for his buddy Walters should have been the writing on the wall. It was for me. I personally lost a lot of respect for Miller when he "announced his retirement" -- at the Pinnacle head office. Cant pass up free publicity huh Wade? While Lamar McGriggs, who was ten times the player Miller ever was, gets a cursory mention in a throwaway news release. And thats why we can't win a Cup in 25 years -- in a 8-10 team league.
  14. Right -- see the bolded. I questioned the decision they made when it happened. And now, considering our record, I blame them for it.
  15. Tillman by far would be the best choice, he's been actively recruiting for the Ti-Cats and still doing a great job but his reputation is probably too much for the fans to stomach right now. Tillman is poison. Groping teenage girls... Well, guy did his time. At what point do you let someone move on? Not saying I would want to be friends with the guy but at least he can do the job. Walters seems like a nice guy. Probably a cool dude. Fricken terrible GM.
  16. I like that thought but it'd have to be a Chris Jones type. I think it's incredible what he has accomplished in Edmonton in just a few short years. Why, oh why can't we land guys like that? Because the GM hired the HC. And our GM is sub-par. And the only reason our GM is still employed is because he's Miller's guy. This train went off the rails the day Miller lied about our "exhaustive" GM search. Everything else that has transpired since then can be traced to that total inside hire. Team won't get better until we let better people run it.
  17. Because 50% of our starting roster is below average. You have to address the talent, or lack thereof. Geez, put the entire team on waivers and see who gets picked up. Westerman and ?
  18. Of course they will. Miller takes care of his own. I can see us going 7-11 next year. Which is awesome. I love Slurpees.
  19. MOS has shown he deserves another year. Though I would NOT extend him until the end of 2016. Obviously MB has to go and Richie should be kept around. But the tough call we likely won't make is keeping Walters. If there was a way to get Murphy I sure would.
  20. Firing MOS without turfing Walters would be setting up the next HC for failure & mediocrity. When's the last time someone has come here as a HC and flourished? Berry? At some point you have to make changes that matter.
  21. He's got a hell of a leg... kicking and punting... no denying that... it's the accuracy that needs work... LOL. Kind of like saying a boxer has a hell of a right cross. Just takes a punch like Betty White.
  22. How the kid actually remains on the squad is mind-blowing. Look how the Steelers treated Scobie after just one rough game? Immediately audition replacements. Take the best one. Dump the current guy and move on. Then again, considering the GM's ability to sniff out "talent" I'm not surprised. Maybe Walters will re-sign Chevon Walker to placekick?
  23. OShs biggest problem is his lame attempts to deflect blame from his players make him look lost and incompetent. He's like the polar opposite of Burke. Which isn't good either. I guarantee that there have been and will certainly will be more heated private discussions between OS, Miller and Walters, with a theme like "you expect me to extract talent from the team? Get me some talented players."
  24. No one was going to win with Brohm/Marve. Full stop. However, a guy like Nichols could probably be .500 with us if we had reasonable offensive coaching. I think our HCing is fine and that Hall has done a good job with the D. Our biggest flaws this year has been with the offensive play calling and system and with highly suspect ST play. I think our team has played well and been well prepared for all games this year with the exception of the Hamilton game. That indicates to me that MOS has not lost the room and is capable of motivating our team but needs better ST and O coordinators. Agree with you on OShea and the D, but you're ignoring the big problem which is the horrible personnel. Our "pipeline" to talent is obviously clogged. When Walters signed Chevon Walker he officially served his own notice.
