Well if I am the GM in waiting I care who gets hired, I care about all the speculation that seems to be rampant and I care if I am involved in the process, consulted or even informed. If that seems to be too much to ask I guess my expectations of running a football ops department are out of line.

As a player and ST Coach....I guess he could be a CEO candidate based on that.

Let me get this straight:
 
Miller is hired.
We have a process.
Khari is HC. No process. 
Worman is in. No, he's not.
Walter's in. 
Higgins has been talked to. Among others.
Walter's not in.
Mike O'Shea's name comes up.
Khari's not in.
Danny McManus's name comes up.
Khari's back in or is he?
Miller's calling everything. Maybe.
Nothing's been announced.
Everything is in place, but nothing's been done.
 
…..This week can't end soon enough.
 
 

I was being facetious. My point is why doesn't miller just make that call then. Why the pretence of an exhaustive search. It's silly. And it lends itself to criticism of miller

Well Tillman is in Hamilton and he and Austin are tight so odds are Danny Mac is on the hunt for a new job so there likely is some validity to this story at least from Danny's perspective.

Certainly interesting. No doubt more "rumours" will surface this week. But if miller has already picked Khari why ask for permission to speak with Oshea? And if they are interviewing head coaches and miller has vowed the GM will hire the HC who the heck is the GM?

Bauer ran him out of town? Ritchie declined a contract extension at the start of his last season and then developed some significant health issue. So I guess he got ran out of town.

it is funny people are not paying attention to the fact that people are suggesting OC and not HC.. huge difference..

if the Bombers couldnt bring in Wylie I wouldnt mind him as OL coach.

Why would we want doug berry, if he wasn't good enough for us before and he's not good enough for the Als now...

I still think Miller is a great fit for CEO of the club and while I'm leery of his side businesses getting a lot of contracts with the team, I think his business savvy will only help.
 
But the quicker he hires an experienced GM who's been in similar rebuilds to direct this team (and get the hell out of the spotlight) the better.
 
Playing 10 years in the league makes you a smart player and experienced teammate (and much more knowledgable than the average fan) but it doesn't mean you can coach and certainly doesn't mean you can GM. 

He should've gotten the job instead of Buchko to start with.

I dont believe for one second that the GM will have sole responsibility for picking the Head Coach.  If the HC is Khari, that decision was made awhile go by Wade Miller.

Perhaps Buchko's short tenure then might qualify as a second bad hire?

I swear, Miller's comments to the media -- or the way the media is interpreting or presenting his comments -- are going to, or have already, scare any qualified potential GMs away. 
 
The more the impression builds that he is going to be "hands on" the more he will be left with a handful of nomads, has-been failures, or sock puppets.....
 
Which is maybe what he wants -- if you drive away all your candidates so you're left with Tillman, three rolls of tape, and Walters, I guess Walters wins the race.

Well o.k., I would not hire Khari as HC, I would not bring back Burke in any role.
 
Rook Pres/Cod, HC and GM= Disaster imo.
 
I would also not purchase any tickets or merch, as GM I am not paying for the next round of buyouts.    

This is the step we've all wanted and waited for, I am excited.
 
I wish Tim Burke all the best as a DC in this league, he will be a smart hire for someone later on.

Perhaps people are a little bit confused as to the process of how these decisions are being made.  The GM is typically the one to be the face of the decisions when facing the media.  The CEO certainly has final approval or course, but usually gives his "yes" or "no" and then lets the GM handle the announcements and the questions, and the press conferences, etc.  
All people have seen today is Miller.  When do we hear from Walters?

Miller rubs me the wrong way.  The GM will select the HC?  Just like the GM will fire the current coach?  Miller said football ops would be up to the GM, then he said football ops decisions are made after discussing with him first.  Who's he trying to fool?  "The GM will hire the coach...that I tell him to hire" is more accurate.

Khari as HC?

Love the guy, not a HC, at least not yet. Maybe in 5 or 6 years ....

You could say that about justabout anyone.
Giving an average coaching talent like Jones the whistle when the org. is in such a precarious state is a mistake. WPG needs more of a proven commodity, who gives an impression of stability. Not a nostalgia, buddy hire who will be hailed as an "up and comer".

Khari Jones with a sock-puppet of a GM being prodded by a highly "motivated" CEO is not a good situation. 
 
Wade should hire a quality football man and then get the firetruck out of football ops. 
 
Work on biz development and revenue streams. 

Not everywhere. I've been interviewed in the past on 2 occasions by people I knew well. One was a friend & another a former co worker. And while the interviews may have been out of courtesy to me, I didn't get hired for either position. These were large insurance companies & the 2 managers who  knew me had their reputations to consider & to their credit they hired people who they felt were best suited for the position. I had no problem with that as I understood going into each interview it was strictly a business decision when it came to them hiring. That's how it should be. I've been on both ends of the interview process & I understood the situation. With Miller, from everything I heard & read,  I just get the impression he is going to reward his old teammates because he trusts them. My thoughts are to simply hire the best person at every position be it GM or Head Coach because HE IS THE BEST PERSON  for the team. Trust will evolve because it was a good hire. Success will come because of it.

Didnt the team announce just last week that thet werent allowed to make any moves until after the Cup?  Obviously they were wrong, but that was their own statement.  Didnt Miller just say like two days ago it would be 3-5 weeks to find a GM and *then* the GM would make the coaching decision?
