I still can't believe we went through a bye week content with this guy at kicker.

Should have blown them out when we had the chance. This game should be over. Playing with fire leaving them in it.
    Mourtada be cut tomorrow.

If you're not going to have an early game, I really don't see the point in starting this one so late. Plus you've got to find a middle ground for the BC and Winnipeg viewers, especially for the kids. You're never going to grow the game when most of the country isn't going to watch a 9 pm CT start.  Other leagues don't have this problem because they've got so many games on in the 6/7 time slot, but when you've only got 3-4 games a week you can't really afford to limit your potential eyeballs.

There is some truth to the bolded statement above.
I think O'Shea has unintentionally made our kicking situation worse, mostly by treating our kickers as if they are Justin Medlock. I'd like to see us be more aggressive and go for it on third down rather than attempt long field goals (unless in obvious situations).  Pick the kicker that is going to hit the most frequently from 40 yards and in. Accept the lower percentage on the >40 yard kicks, but in other situations go for it. Working off memory here, but I think we had Mourtada attempt a 50 yarder on 3rd and 2. I'd rather leave the offense out. There is plenty of NFL data showing that teams should be more aggressive and fourth and short distance downs when on fringe opponent territory. I'd feel comfortable assuming it would apply to third and short distance downs in the CFL where offenses are even more favoured.

Also now that the good guys won I can point out that the refs were awful (to both teams, really) and TSN continues to do a terrible job of covering CFL games. That they avoided discussing a bunch of the huge calls (or no calls) shows how dumb they think their viewers are.

If TSN and the league want to attract more young viewers, a decent start would be to get better commentators. The same recycled talking points over and over. Confidence, momentum, forced anecdote (this week was tie colour!)...repeat.

At first blush, this looks like a bad idea. A real bad idea. I am not confident that Ambrosie can pull this off successfully without screwing up most of what CFL fans enjoy.
But, I will also say that it still has potential. The XFL last year tried to do a lot of fan-friendly things.  Some worked, some didn't. You had live mics and a whole bunch of interviews, for example, and there are plenty of folks who would strongly argue those were good or bad. I would like to see the CFL maintain its unique CFL rules, but I am also not against exploring some rule changes that may make the game more exciting.  Mostly XP and kick/punt returns.
I will also say that Ambrosie will likely - and perhaps rightfully - painted as the bad guy here, but I'm not sure there's a whole heck of a lot he can do about it. The pandemic has blown up their business model and full season this year remains unlikely in my opinion. The choices are to find a way to survive with potential new revenue sources, or call it quits.

Why should it be a government's responsibility to hold the hand of a business when it's requesting public funds for financial assistance?
Ambrosie strolled into Ottawa back in April, more than a month after this pandemic established a foothold in Canada, with what looked like nothing more than some bungled request for $150M and no plan in place as to how to allocate those funds to facilitate its 2020 season. That ham-fisted approach proved to be a costly mistake and reflected poorly on the league and the commissioner, immediately putting them at a disadvantage for future discussion. You wouldn't roll up to a lender, ask for a Brinks truck worth of money, and then not be expected to explain what it's for or how it's going to be spent. And FWIW, I don't imagine the federal officials with whom he met just laughed at him and not tell him what was required for further discussions to move in the right direction. It's been nearly four months since that fateful meeting and what tangible progress have we seen? It shouldn't have taken this long to sort out the situation and we all waited and waited for something concrete but it never happened. It seems like there's been more finger-pointing, obfuscation, and doublespeak than anything else until yesterday's unfortunate and disappointing announcement. Which is to say nothing of the seemingly widening rift between the league, the owners, and the players. The CFL needs to do away with its lack of transparency with regard to its financial landscape, and I think that would benefit it significantly during normal times but especially at a time like this.
Let me be clear here: I won't make any excuses for the missteps and errors made by the feds in recent years (there are too many to count) but I don't think any gov't official should be blamed for a private organization being unable to formulate a plan to save its business operations during a worldwide health crisis. That part is on the league for not having done its due diligence and making sure its t's were crossed and i's were dotted when requesting financial assistance to keep its 2020 aspirations alive.
All levels of government have enough on their plates at an unprecedented time like this. Expecting them to guide an established organization like the CFL through the process of requesting financial aid doesn't seem reasonable at all. A professional sports league should have the right people in place to navigate the best interests of its business, including the highest office of said league and its major stakeholders.

Bobs take is a little off. An interest fee loan shouldn't exist for any business. It sucks, but I wouldn't have agreed with a decision like that. And Miller is trying to save face and claim the government dragged them along...? Your commish went to them with a Taman like plan (napkins). There's plenty of blame to go around, I'd like to see some of the high ranking members of this league take some of it on to their own shoulders. Stop pointing fingers and get the **** to work.

This really sucks, but I think it was the right call. As much as a short season would have been fun, I really just want the league to be okay in the future. They absolutely, positively need to figure out a way to make the 2021 season work - and there's a decent chance they'll still have to pull that off with no or limited fan attendance.
Everyone seems ready to blame the government but I can't really get on board with that.  It sounds like there were avenues laid out for them to obtain reasonable loans, but the CFL didn't want to pursue them.  I am not nearly as anti-Ambrosie as many here are, but have to admit he really misplayed his hand. He has struggled to come up with concrete plans through the whole process. In fact, his "plan" just seemed to be to wait things out and hope for a miracle. Perhaps though this isn't all on him either, as it sounds like the private owners were really driving the bus on this one.

I don't think you are a racist, most people here don't either- but you could be a bit more "tuned-in" as your First Nations, Black and White post showed. I think we can all agree that being a little more informed is never a bad thing.
What's wrong with righting a wrong and making reparations when one is in a position of privilege and has the means to do so? Many of the privileges we have are because we inherited them from the wrongdoings from the past. Rail roads, land, slavery- all of it to build this society and the comforts you and I enjoy... so why not make amends?
There's a reason why it's "Catch a tiger by the toe" and not it's original verse... They call them licorice babies now for a very good reason... The game is called telephone now and none says "Not a Ch......n's chance " anymore. First Nations... well there is still a ton of things that need to be done there. We progress and correct things as we go- as it should be, I don't see this as any different- evolve.
