Loved Cory Watson when he was on the field .. epitomized the way this game should be played .. best of luck to Cory going forward.

That said .. I think we made out like bandits in this trade.

This is why I'm ok with pushing it back a year. Although I would have sucked it up and paid for both, a lot of people couldn't or wouldn't.

    LOL Desjardins.

This guy has to be one of the worst general managers in pro sports.

He scouts Eric Rogers out and then cuts him, leaving him free to go to Calgary.
Rogers turns out to be such an impact player in Calgary that he steals Mo Price's job.
What does Desjardins do? Trade his best player from 2014 for Mo Price.

Absolutely it happens more than people think, but that goes for both mma and wrestling.  The amount of mma concussions (and injuries in general) that are reported are way lower than the actual number for the simple fact that unless you are an upper echelon guy, you don't get paid if you don't fight.  There was recently a fairly high level fight in Edmonton where one guy hid the fact that his arm was broken from the commission doctor and went out & fought because he couldn't afford not too.  Predictably, he lost and now has been suspended for the fact that he lied about the injury.  Now, because he got caught (he was dumb enough to make a pre-fight video talking about it but posted it online after the fight), he's going to be under a lot of scrutiny every time he fights now - at least he should be.   He fights mainly in Edmonton and their commission is well known for being a joke so chances are it'll be business as usual for him.

A lot of fighters will also tell you that training is way harder than the actual fight & that's where most of the injuries happen.  Those will all go unreported unless it's a high profile fighter and the injury is bad enough that they do have to pull out of a fight.  Training has gotten better (ie smarter) than back in the day (read up on training at Miletich Fighting Systems for some good "horror stories") but like any sport, the compete level & pressure makes guys perform when they shouldn't.

Why not mention that Cain destroys everyone not just Lesnar. Overeem was a monster (at that point) who hadn't lost in 4 years and was the Dream & Strikeforce heavyweight champion.
    Lesnar wasn't losing to bums.

Which part of wrestling is "fake"?  The word gets thrown around a lot by people who either have never done it or dont get it.  Lots of real contact and real injuries in a fake sport.

Don't confuse UFC fighters (who fight maybe 2-4 times a year) with a regular mma fighter.  There are guys who fight much more often than that (for an extreme example ook-up Travis Fulton - 300 fights since 1996 for an average of nearly 17 fights a year.).  Most UFC fighters want to fight more (that's the only time they make money for the most part), but they have no control over that.

Also don't forget to account for the travel schedule of a WWE wrestler.  Although it's not as bad as it was in the past, there's still not a lot of time for them to recouperate before they're hopping on another plane or jumping in a car to head to their next show.  UFC fighters have nothing that would compare to that.

Like TUP said, wrestlers get punched in the face a lot. It won't be new for him. Also, How'd you decide on Nate Diaz for your example?

edit: I just watched the clip and saw the Diaz mention. I wondered at first why you mentioned Diaz b/c he's certainly doesn't have the heaviest hands in mma.

Until he actually gets in there and shows some skill, then you can't really say that he can beat anyone.  The low level UFC guys are still at a much higher level than 95% of the guys we'd see fighting at a CFC show.  He can't rely just on his athleticism because at those weight classes, everyone is a pretty good athlete.  That's why Dana is talking about having him fight someone else just starting out rather than a guy with experience.  It's an awkward situation for the UFC.  Bringing in a nobody doesn't add any credibilty to Punk & people will ask why they are paying to watch a such a low level fight.  Have him beat up a Bonner-type guy and people will say anyone could have done that.  Put him against someone legit and he gets killed.  Other than ratings, there's not a lot to gain for the UFC.

As far as the Kimbo comparison goes....It's not like Punk is fighting at heavyweight where you can get by with just one punch KO power like Kimbo did (even saying he "got by" is an overstatement though).  Kimbo's only UFC win was by decision a blown up light heavyweight who ran the whole time because he was scared to get hit.  His other 3 "wins" are outside the UFC & are against Bo Cantrell (a lot of people believe Cantrell took a dive), a 43 year old Tank Abbott, and a weak ref stoppage against James Thomson who's cauliflower ear exploded.  So it's not really comparable to Punk (IMO) because at least people knew what they were getting from Kimbo between those fights & his time on TUF.

Once again, not true.  Which is why the premise of the original post and all those claiming how wonderful it was is ridiculous.

Because, once again, people are dealing in absolutes.

Their wonderfully closed minds only see two possibilities - we decide to keep (pick a coordinator/coach) OR we decide to fire (pick a coordinator/coach).

In reality there are far more possibilities than that and all of these other possibilities will still take time to unfold.  Such as the Bombers were not entirely happy with (pick a coordinator/coach) and would like to try and upgrade that position, but were not so dissatisfied that the possibility of (pick a coordinator/coach) returning next season was ruled out entirely if no upgrade is available.

By my count there are only 3 coaches in the league who are no longer with the team who employed them at season's end - Cortez, Benevides, and Gibson.

So all you kings of impatience who want Etchevery gone - what is it the Bombers should do RIGHT NOW, TODAY?  Talk to Benevides?  Apparently they've done that.  So have 2 other teams, apparently.  What does that tell you?  That 2 other defensive coordinators may be available shortly.  Perhaps coordinators that they would like more.  Perhaps from places that Benevides would like to go to more.  Perhaps the new head coach of the BC Lions decides not to retain Mark Washington, whom the Bombers were rumoured to be interested in for the DC job last year.  Why on earth do we NEED to commit to anything today, December 5th?

But lets skip past all the possibilities, and I could easily think of dozens more, and go to the one that seems to be the biggest hangup - why not just announce that they are firing Etch today?  Well, perhaps they have enough vision to see an outcome where the only DC's available are ones they consider downgrades.  What if Barker fires Burke and Benevides takes that job, and the only DC of note was Tim Burke?  Tim Burke, back in town, one year later.

And then the Bombers realize the best option available to them is to re-hire the guy they fired a month ago, because Etchevery is the best option and all other options are worse.  That would be the most ridiculously unprofessional thing this organization has ever done, and that's saying something.

Instead, they are behaving like a professional organization.  Why some fans continue to insist they should make poorly thought choices - I am confused.  Maybe they've always been closet Rider fans and are engaging in subterfuge.  Well played.

(And most of this topic has been about the coaches, but some have implied the Bombers are outright doing nothing.  Their heads must be far down in the sand, because I have never seen this many potential FA's get wrapped up in new contracts before December.  Ever.  Walters has been a very busy GM.)

Hmm.  That last post contained next to no sarcasm.  Plenty of derision, but it was largely sarcasm free.

It also was not directed specifically at the original post but rather many posts across many threads that have occurred during the season, and since.  However, I would have included the original post in that rather large group.

It's why I started with "quite seriously".  After nearly every loss and some wins, there are posters who seem to demand someone in the organization needs to stand in front of a camera and blame someone for something, despite continually denouncing the previous coach for doing just that.

Clearly they are considering their options on a number of fronts, and no decisions have been made yet.  And they've said as much.

Let's say hypothetically they want to replace their defensive coordinator.  What would a proper course of action be in a good organization?  Look around for some possible candidates.  Who are the candidates?  Well we don't know yet, because there are still plenty of dominoes to fall in multiple organizations outside of ours.  And then there will be people not willing to commit to a coordinator position when there is still a head coaching position open.  And then there might be another round of dominoes falling.  And then the process of filling up each team's dance card of coaches will begin.  In the meantime they should be reaching out to the potential candidates that they can reach out to, and let them know they are interested.  Which they have been doing, according to sources.

So what exactly do they owe us?

According to the crowd I was addressing, they don't like some of our coaches and apparently think Walters is supposed to step in front of a microphone and camera and say "Yeah, I don't like that guy either.  We don't have a plan yet, but that guy is the worst.  We'll probably can his ass.  Blargh blargh blargh.  No concrete plan, but we felt the fans deserved to hear us talk crap about one of our employees."

This is what a terrible organization would do.  Why are fans insisting the Bombers should behave like a terrible organization?

You have 3 options as far as I can recall.

A: Pay in full Dec 15th.
B: Use your playoff ticket credit as a deposit & do 6 monthly payments (for both GC and season tickets) with the 1st payment due Dec. 15th.
C: Use your credit as deposit & pay in full by Feb. 15th (the date might not be exact but it was in Feb sometime).

I would argue this point.  Darth Maul's double light saber opened the door for modifications in The Phantom menace so I don't think you can lay the blame on JJ for that one.  Not saying that his hilted version is a good idea, just that it's been done before.
