He just won the LW belt in November so when exactly was he supposed to defend it? You seem to be confusing it with the FW belt which he has already been stripped of (they took the belt 2 weeks after he beat Alvarez). They re-instated Aldo as "undisputed" champion & had Holloway fight Pettis for the interim belt a month ago. it nearly blew up in their face though because Pettis missed weight and was ineligible to win the title even if he won they fight. Holloway won though so crisis averted. You are right that it's a cash grab though... all titles are though, they really don't mean much since the UFC can name whoever they want champion (this is the 2nd time Aldo has been awarded the belt without winning it in a fight).

I would say Elimimian re-signing would qualify as a big name.

If you're planning on going to see Assassin's Creed, save your time and money! I'd give it 2 out of 5 at best. The movie does have some good action scenes but the story was all over the place & had a really weak ending. They also had way too many scenes in the lab rather than in the past. So much missed potential.

Their DC made $228k USD in 2015 (just over 300k Canadian) so it's possible that it could be in the ball park for a rookie HC up here but I'm not sure what they make these days since those numbers aren't usually made public. If he does well down there, it could open up some doors in the future to bigger schools that pay much better.

Yeah I'm not sure how they chalked it up as a loss just for that show, it might just be the way that article was written. I just read another article that said the total budget was 200 million over both seasons so that doesn't necessarily mean the loss was that much.

There's a lot of belief that even if this one is doomed to fail, it has provided a good stepping stone for the next association to succeed. Having big names who are still active fighters, was a big coup and should encourage other to follow suit with whatever group comes next. Pettis needs to fire his nutritionist. They were filming Embedded a few days ago & Pettis was chowing down at a steak house. His guy basically said this weight cut went so good & was so easy that Pettis could eat more if he was still hungry... clearly that wasn't the case!

It seems to me the Bombers were set on going OL not picking BPA. The rankings for OL were Duvernay-Tardiff, Foucault, Lavertu, Goosen. The top 2 are NFL players who have never played a single down in the CFL and the 3rd guy went 1st overall - leaving Goosen as the highest ranked OL available. Not quite the reach when you look at it from a team need standpoint. If you're going to mention that he was ranked 9th & 15th, then you should also mention that he was ranked 5th overall in the January rankings.

It's definitely not just a tool to get a deal for GSP but it's sure not going anywhere at this rate. Cerrone is already backing away, they didn't even tell him he would be a board member, he says he was basically just there to show support. Cerrone won't name names, but says there are people involved he won't work with (that would be Rebney - who Kennedy was publicly criticizing this week). It's got some valid points and big names involved, but way too many issues to be successful. The biggest issue for Pettis missing weight is that his fight was supposed to be for the interim title. They can still make it a 5 rounder but Pettis can't win the belt so it's kind of useless for him. Holloway can still win the belt though so will still take the fight (if the notoriously strict OAC allows it - which they should).
