  1. ...and I have no doubts he spits, swears and has tirades.....but what makes MOS great, is he knows to keep it private.
  2. I like what you're saying overall in this post, I really do. But remarkably coming from a person like me who coaches Atom football players where 100% effort and focus is everything, this statement imho is blinding some Bomber decision-makers from corrececly evaluating players and making some tough decisions. The tough reality being that regardless of 100% effort every play every down and being a loyal team member to a fault is unfortunately not good enough to guarantee a roster spot/starting position. We aren't in Atom, Peewee or Bantam anymore. When I really think about it, that's how Wade Miller was able to be a Bomber for so long . He was simply not talented enough to warrant taking up a roster spot but boy was he loyal, focussed and a hard worker. Probably why he got into private business. Now that he's leading this organization with a head coach who seems to be molded quite similarly, this color blindedness of seeing effort/loyalty as the end all be all of who deserves to be a Bomber concerns me. Bullshit. Wade Miller may not have been the most talented guy but there was a time when he was one of the teams best special teams players and he clearly had the talent to be a CFLer. Thanks for your opinion, but to use your well used quote on other people, your opinion is not based on fact. Wade Miller was not a very good football player, that's a fact. He was also the same guy who came out and said he would quit the team if a very bad coach was fired which would suggest not the best judgement of talent as well. Do love his loyalty and commitment though, misguided at times. "Wade Miller was not a very good football player" but good enough to get into WBB Hall of Fame No kidding......what a completely ridiculous statement to say he's not a good football player when all other facts point to the contrary.
  3. a true Alberta legend.....sad day, indeed.
  4. There is still a large difference between what organizations do internally and say externally to the media. Words are cheap, and in this day and age organizations keep things closer to their vest. I'd be willing to bet that O'Shea, Walters, and Miller aren't at all happy with the way this season has turned out, and are already planning on how to start addressing these things going forward. There are multiple reasons not to to divulge these things in the media, some of them including tipping your hate to the 8 other teams in the league as well as leaving your options open as your plan changes and evolves as you evaluate going forward. Actions will always speak louder then words. And we really won't know what the leaders of this organization think or where they see problems until training camp next year when we see who they kept, who they released, and where they brought in talent. Whatever is said now is really just lip service, whatever is said. Given what we know about O'Shea from his time as a player does anyone here actually think that he's not the most pissed off guy out there about how the season ended? That dude was super competitive and I guarantee he is not happy with the way the season ended. Absolutely. Anyone who thinks otherwise obviously didn't pay attention to O'Shea during his playing career. This isn't sitting well with him, you can bet your bottom dollar on that. As disappointed as we all are to miss out, considering the hours and effort he puts in, he's more disappointed. And I would bet money that he knows exactly what the team needs to fix, too.....Now, whether they're able to actually DO those things for next year, I'm not sure, but he knows exactly what it's going to take.
  5. They all live here during the summer, so they have to take care of little details like moving out of their apartment/housing, as well as the aforementioned exit interviews with coaches. I'd say most will be around for the bye week...
  6. Part of the problem is we live in a society now, that teaches people to complain and be a victim, rather than learn to defend themselves. Society is a bunch of *******...
  7. My only concern... ONLY... with Willy, is whether or not he's perma fried from what happened this year. If he comes out next year as he did this season, and lights it up outta the gate, all is well.
  8. My dad is that generation too. I wore #1 for most of my minor hockey career because of Johnny Bower. My generation was Gilmour, Clark, Potvin. Now I split allegiances with Leafs, Oilers, Jets and Hawks (Toews)...
  9. no this is 100% false. Some opinions can be dumb and incorrect and some smart and correct. "I like chocolate more than vanilla" is a subjective opinion that depends on the person expressing said opinion, "In my opinion Drew Willy can't read a defense" is a dumb and incorrect opinion. All "opinions" are subjective, regardless of their correctness. You seem to take it upon yourself frequently to be the arbiter of others opinions. I don't think that's helpful, and points I think to what the OP was saying in the first place. That's because I am the arbiter. I bet I've been a fan of this team for longer than you've been alive. Your judgment of others "level" of fan support means absolutely nothing to anyone, except you. Don't you think it would be more productive to try tonot antagonize people all the time? But where's the fun in that?
  10. Interesting report done on posting habits. Nice to see Dave, Chad and I around 50%, which is how it should be. Just gotta keep am even keel and not lose your mind week in and week out. Also, I'm a big believer that the Internet is the wild West. CFL Zone was the single best CFL board, and it's because it was every man for himself. If you wanna have an opinion, that's awesome, but be prepared to defend it at all times.
  11. Picard is about done. I'll take a pass there...
  12. It's absurd for people who have zero knowledge of the WBBFC board to make accusations like that. If it were me on the board, I'd be laughing uproariously at any outsider trying to tell me what to do...

  14. You have Spuds way too far on one end, TBurg WAY too far on the other end. The best place to be is somewhere in the middle of that. I think that's where *most* on here do tend to fall...
  15. This thread reminds me just how short some people's memories are. It's like nobody remembers the first 6 games of the season...
  16. Had seasons in 2006 and part of 2007, while I was living in Morden, working in Winkler, and it's the best money I've ever spent, bar none. Moving to Alberta, the toughest thing was giving up my Bombers seasons. Sigh...would give ANYTHING. You STH don't know how lucky you are...
  17. It's OK, not all fans are created equal, some people just aren't as much of a fan as others and can only support a winner. No shame in being less of a fan than the rest of us. All the fans who have purchased tickets for the last 24 years but still want a team that will be at least 9-9 would strongly disagree with your comment. Being willing to accept poor performances and failure every year would never work in any other business and definitively does not make one a better fan. What's the incentive for the club to get better if all were to accept its failure. A company would not wait one and a half year to decide whether you're good or not. Let's face it, we hired HC's that had no experience and have paid them handsomely while they were learning and perhaps becoming good at their job. Seems we never learn so we get stuck having to wait into the next year to see if the training has pay off. If it hasn't we start again with a new rookie and promises things will be better this time. No, those who while not accepting what is happening but still showing up are the real fans, not those who drank the kool-aid because Jimmy Jones told them to. All I am saying is if you aren't buying season tickets because the team isn't winning you aren't that much of a fan. If I lived in Winnipeg I'd be buying season tickets every year and it wouldn't even be a question. So who said the fans were not buying tickets because the team was not winning. After having been screwed for all these years I think the Winnipeg/Manitoba fan is exemplary. Remember, a fan does not have a seat on the BOD table so he just can't walk up and say:"You guys's system stinks." The only way he can express his displeasure is by using his cash to do something else on game day. The Bomber Club does not have an inherent right to expect fans to show up, it's a privilege it must earn but for years it's a privilege it has enjoyed on credit. Good for you for wanting to be at the game, that would make you another of the 28,000 or so who were there this year. Discount the last two games when many fans decided to speak to the Board. I would actually pay money to listen to the giant burst of laughter that would erupt from the board room if you walked up to them and said that. The hilarity would be infectious...
  18. also, Herp Derp Rabble Rabble!!! (...Just to fit in with the OP...)
  19. You're right -- taking the contrarian point of view toward every decision the club makes is a real fan.
  20. Still young, still learning, needs the reps. If he's your guy, he goes. But absolutely the back-ups will get some time, one way or another...
  21. Nah, that just gives you even more reason to cheer for the East. Nothing like the entire stadium rallying around one team, even if it's not the Bombers...
  22. Well, I'll tell you what...Bombers or no Bombers, I'm making the trek home from Alberta for that Grey Cup week. I want to take some time off work, check out all the socials and events, and the game itself. Was a STH for the 06 GC and had a hell of a time. Would love to do it again...
  23. Except pocket awareness and mobility. He had 'em in spades, in July.....those things don't just go away outta nowhere. He'll learn from what happened this year and get better. Shitty OL, too many hits....gunshy back there. He'll get it figured out...
  24. Ya tie doesn't count. Gotta be a win up...
  25. Well, this is it. Win out, BC lose out, and someone in the East start losing. Need a miracle!!
