  1. hmm I'm concerned that Walters is one of those guys who makes trades too quickly without really knowing what he's getting. Foster was a pretty useless acquisition for this team too. Yeah he's trading players he doesn't want to keep, but is he really getting full value? I like the guy overall and I think there are some things he does do well, but we can talk about things he might not do well without pretending that his **** doesn't stink. This move was a horrendous one, that's just facts. I expect my GM to know what kind of player they're getting back. Kudos to them for not sticking with the mistake, but mistakes are still mistakes.
  2. Edmonton gets a player in need of a change of scenery for a player that needed a change of scenery, Tampa clears cap space and sheds contracts and Arizona commits highway robbery to get 2 players for a 6th round pick, Tampa even ate some of Gagners contract.
  3. except we're not talking about what Banks did, we're talking about our GM giving up an asset and then paying a decent signing bonus to lock this guy up only for him to never play a snap for the team. That's just a poor move from a GM and there's no two ways about it.
  4. Frankly, i think it speaks to the ability of walters to bring in talent that pushed banks out the door... Very competent.. Brought in banks as insurance and insurance can be pricey... But now he and his bigger contract are gone minus his signing bonus... The cost of business and covering your ass... **** happens but definitely not some kind of embarrassing gaffe worth ridicule... and insinuating o'shea is somehow a negative on this because he made the call.. Did you see our secondary last game, nuff said.. are you dizzy from all that spinning? You can point out a guys mistakes and still like what he's doing overall.
  5. This isn't some CFL rookie here, this is a guy who has been around the league a long long time. There should be enough information to go on in regards to what his character is like.
  6. Bold statement considering we haven't seen Ottawa play yet, what if Ottawa has absolute **** defense? I'll take my chances with a team with a decent D and erratic qb over a better qb and **** D. Fair statement - you forgot that Ottawa has no depth either, so when their 'starters' start getting hurt, things could really get interesting. But lets face it, Calgary wasn't exactly hitting on all cylinders and for two quarters the Al's had a huge wind at their backs. They got one point. One things for sure, regardless of how good, or bad, your defense is, you won't win if you don't score points. Burris can score points - and in the past has overcome and outscored an opponent for want of a 'bad' defense. Do you honestly feel, from what you've seen last year and this, that Troy Smith is capable of 'outscoring' an opponent? I haven't seen it yet, and he's not 'young', he's been around a long time. He'll be 30 years old in a few weeks (July 20th) yet he throws like a 20 year old. By that I mean he's more interested in throwing an 80 yard pass despite the fact his receivers are only 65 yards away. Once or twice that happens, he was doing that the whole game. 30 year old QB who's been around...... he won't be around much longer I think the sun shines on a dogs ass every now and then and there will be games throughout the year where that erratic arm hits enough passes to win.
  7. I have no doubts that cutting Banks is the best thing for the roster on the field, no doubts about that. But it's a black eye for the GM there's no two ways about that. We gave up an asset and cash for a guy who didn't play a snap for us, that's just not a good move and it makes you wonder about how we scout players on other teams. Should have done their homework. At his point trading Poblah for a 7th round pick would have been better value.
  8. The problem I have with the satellite radio is really 2 things: firstly their channels are too focussed. I want a nice broad spectrum of stuff but I can't get it on one channel. Secondly, they play the same songs over and over again, I've listened to the same stuff for the last 3 years on the channels I generally listen to. I'd rather put up with the local douchebags because at least then I get the variety of stuff I want.
  9. Traded a national player to get him, extended him to a new deal including a signing bonus... yes it's at least a moderate deal. It shows that our GM completely misjudged a player, that is a concern. Yeah from the standpoint of cutting a player who wasn't making the team better it's the right move, but the fact that they made the moves they did to get this guy only to have it not do anything for them, that raises questions about the management here.
  10. it was academic. Burris is a fair weather qb, always has been, that's why he got shipped out of Calgary. Expecting him to do anything outside in November was expecting too much. He was fortunate that he got to play inside in the east playoffs. A team with a better cold weather qb could have beaten the riders, but Burris packs it in when things get tough.

  12. it used to be on that channel on sirius last year but this year it wasn't
  13. That's all well and good for people with unlimited data plans, but some of us live in provinces where they rape you for using data.
  14. Excellent question, I was looking for it yesterday as well and couldn't find it. Figured looking on my phone while driving wasn't a good idea. Luckily I was in Alberta and could get the games on the AM stations but The only damned reason I kept the Sirius subscription was for CFL games.
  15. I got the RIders winning still. Too many pieces still there... that being said the rest of the week has been pretty unpredictable.
  16. No quarterback does. That's the reason people forgot how good Ray can be. That Edmonton o-line has been making qbs look poor for years now.
  17. I know my COTY prediction happened BEFORE opening night. ISO, I had a terrible feeling about last season, and it started in March and I called it as such. Not saying I'm right all the time and frankly anyone looking at the bombers from an objective eye called it last year. This year, I'm not there, can only judge from what I've seen on the bomber app (press conferences) and what I saw in he preseason games, but I liked very much what I saw/heard. A much better feeling, and I'd still be calling Mike O as COTY even if we had lost that first game because you're right, it's a looooong season and I was thinking the bombers would be getting stronger as the season progressed. The Argo game blew me away, we have a legit shot of being 2 - 0 to start the season, so there's nothing wrong with being excited. Funny, how so many people (over on our bombers) jumped down my throat, how I didn't know what I was talking about with the two QB's we signed, when I went ballistic on this organisation back in March last year. What I didn't expect was post like yours after positive comments. I really really doubt any Bomber fans have visions of hoisting the Grey Cup in Vancouver in 5 months, but lets treat this for what this is. A much better attitude, a 1000% improvement in coaching, finally a QB we can actually get behind emotionally (you once asked me why I hated Hall - more than once - to be honest I could care less about Hall, or Buck, or Chase, or Justin, or Joey, or Alex - emotionally indifferent was what you saw from me because I knew none of those QB's were going to be around long). So, not only am I going to be positive this year in wins, but as I've proven in the preseason, in losses too. I finally see a team that can progress, not regress. I still have one disappointment, we still can't find our own QB. I'm hoping Marve can be that 'guy' that WE find, as opposed to being a vulture and picking off of other teams. I'm not 'emotionally' invested in Marve yet, but I'm definitely not in the 'could care less' camp about him (Brohm, different story). is you back sore at all? you should take a break from patting it so often.
  18. Kyries Hebert is a piece of **** and went head hunting in revenge for one of his guys getting lit up because he wasn't expecting a receiver to block... sounds about right for a moron with anger management issues.
  19. had to listen to both games on the radio today but from what I could tell the qbs were taking a beating out there.
  20. of course there's a chance, as has been said up thread, the Bombers of the past few seasons were experts at finding a way to lose.
  21. well at the very least Garcia was after Flutie
  22. How about you do your due diligence before you give up an asset and throw a pile of cash at the guy? We have scouts on staff who are supposed to be on the ball about this stuff right? I can't help but think if the last couple GMs had been here to do this the reaction here would be decidedly more negative, and if we weren't still enjoying a big big win the reaction would be more sour as well. I generally like Kyle Walters, but let's call a spade a spade, the Banks move which they crowed pretty loudly about is a bust of a move.
  23. Hey we're all excited about what we saw on opening night, but we're also bomber fans, we should all be aware that it can all go to hell in the span of a week.
  24. The issue if they are looking to trade the guy is that you make a deal to acquire him and sign him to a contract touting the fact that you don't care that he's slowing down you want his leadership... and then ship him out before he plays a game for you... how do future free agents react to offers from a front office that is ruthless like that? I mean it makes sense if Banks has no job here, but the optics can be as damaging as anything.
  25. Obviously impossible to answer that, but the main advantage I would previously have given Collaros is his scrambling ability and how he can extend plays because of it. That advantage still holds true, Willy is not that style of QB, but what Willy can do (which I did not expect - at least at this level) is move around the pocket with great fluidity. He also does not panic when flushed from the pocket. Re-watching the first exhibition game from Toronto I was reminded of Aaron Rodgers when I watched Willy; specifically how he keeps his feet moving while scanning downfield, always resetting so he's in the best possible throwing stance. He doesn't have the same small hops that Rodgers does, but the end result is the same. Find target - fire. "mobile" qurterbacks who extend the play are over rated. Give me pocket presence and compsure over a "dual threat" any day. A true dual threat is a hell of a weapon. There's a long history of those types flat out dominating the CFL. The key is that they must be able to pass and not just be a runner who can occasionally make a throw.
