I've got my fingers crossed that Calgary Stampeders Classics will upload the September 1983 home game vs. Regina.
That was my very first live game and the day I fell in love with the Bombers.  I grew up rural and had never seen 25,000 people in one place before!  Not only that, it was Tom Clements' first game as a Bomber.

Not really, the actual issue was you couldn't limit the number of Americans on us teams.

One thing that stood out watching this is the broadcaster talks a lot more about formations and how the teams are lining up.  We rarely even get broadcasters talking about a player substitution for an injury or a player taking a few plays off.
Either the broadcasters used to be much more knowledgeable about the game, or they've felt they had to really dumb it down over time.

Another nugget.  The Argos had a guy named "Granny Liggins", which I would put up there with "Randy Rhino".  This was before my time so I have no memory of this season.
EDIT - I know we like to crap on TSN but man when you watch these old games you sure miss all of the new technology, like the first down line (so you know if they are even close) and graphics like telling us what the score is more than once or twice a quarter, as well as just telling us what down it is and how many yards to go for a first down.  I remember the days when that stuff didn't exist and I also remember having to pay a lot more attention to everything so that you could be informed rather than just lazily relying on technology.  I definitely think that while I appreciate being kept informed in real time it has made my brain go to mush a bit when it comes to paying attention to details.

I think there's a second tier of all-time running backs for people like Washington, Mimbs and especially Fred Reid.  Will always be a Fast Freddy fan, he and Terrance Edwards were two guys worth watching on the terrible Bombers of 2009-2010 and his big game against the Lions is one of my top ten favorite bomber games.
I think if Chris Garrett hadn't have torn his Achilles, he would've been a great CFL running back. That dude looked complete to me -- power, speed, and moves.

I was too young but 88 and 89 seems like such a strange year. I’ve seen most of the regular season games and the 2 playoff games/GC.

I don’t recall such a consistently underwhelming team making a run like that until maybe this past years Alouettes.
Like some of the 88 games, the Bombers were SO bad. The games against Sask in particular looked like 2013.

The next year, they almost did it again, while looking even worse in their losses. Then you watch the EF/ESF from both those years and it’s like someone took their controller back from their kid.
(Totally off topic) 1989 was also the only year until ‘22 that the Bombers wore white at home. The whole league did, for about half the regular season games. Very odd visual here.

only 83 days left until the season starts.  Then we can replace the offseason lunacy with regular season lunacy.

Unfortunately, I missed that part of the game, as, that day, a group of my friends and I enjoyed a large scale experience with electric Kool-Aid (punchbowl version). We lasted with the game until the half, but became far more interested in the wonderful world of Disney on another channel.

I play Ultimate and coach my daughter's softball team as my main hobbies.  I enjoy golfing in the summer and skiing in the winter, but don't get out to do either nearly as much as I would like.  I used to curl a lot, but stopped when my daughter was born... I really want to get back into it, but don't know anyone who curls and is looking for an additional player.
I'm also a gamer, mostly PC but some Console as well.
I'm a aspiring maker/tinkerer.  I love woodworking projects and want to get into 3D printing and CNC but I just don't have the space for it yet, but hopefully soon.

Balance is good.  We have things we absolutely love to do together (bombers, camping, traveling) but also have stuff that has zero interest for the other.

The idea for this thread is to both be a meta hobby thread which jumps off into existing hobby threads that are already in here (music, fishing, etc...) as well as to perhaps spark some new ones. It may also help you become better acquainted with some of the posters that you've "known" for many years.
So basically just start by listing your hobbies and interests. You never know who may be lurking here who wants to talk about your classic Lego sets or whatever.

    I'm Into:
all things motorcycle. Currently still on my Indian Roadmaster, but have owned and ridden all types and sizes of bike. I have taught and trained about a dozen riders over the years and am happy to give advice on how to start out safe and smart. I am Pres of my riding chapter which has a worldwide affiliated chapter system. EDC (Every Day Carry), I spend way too much money refining the common items that I have with me every day. (for those unfamiliar with EDC, think wallet, watch, keys, pocket knife, multi tool, etc) sports wise, obviously the Argonauts are my passion but I am also a long suffering Leaf fan. As discussed elsewhere, I'm also a 28+ year supporter of Manchester City (the only club in Manchester). I am a long time member of a fraternal order which is known and meets around the world. I own a large (and busy) auto repair facility, so any questions about cars or small businesses are welcome Musically, I mostly listen to post-punk, new and classic southern rock, grunge era and classic metal. But I was a radio jock for nearly 7 years and have an appreciation and some knowledge for all types/styles/formats.
That about does it for me. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do when you aren't busy fretting over who your favorite CFL club may draft in the 4th round for depth.

I have had lots of creative hobbies over the years but nowadays I mostly play drums and write songs with my hobby band. My band is all gen-x people so we're about rock but some country will creep in now and then.  We don't gig for the most part, occasionally we'll play a backyard or a pub but we're mostly about "mom and dad get away from their kids and get loud."
This is my favorite of our recordings -- something my band and I threw together during pandemic lockdown.  it's a weird electro jazz thing, totally not what we would usually play live.

lol people do that? Im kind of stunned that people actually go that far. Doesn’t seem like that many people have been banned from the out side. Maybe it’s just the perspective. Though maybe it makes more sense if it’s one complete nut off the meds again.

I probably don’t notice bannings because it doesn’t seem to happen frivolously and threads get cleaned up pretty quick when they do go south.

Either way I appreciate all the work done by every one who keeps the wheels moving around here.
