Fair enough, although I'd say that the dropoff from BLM to Tate shouldn't be that big, Tate has looked good most times he's played and he'd be a starter somewhere in the CFL if he could figure out how to stay on the field. And Walters had a pretty good game, he ran for 88 yards, almost 7 yards a carry, so the Stamps definitely had a capable running game going.

The guys I'd want -- Wild, Sears Jr -- are free agents. Risky. Kohlert is probably our best non-import and resigned with us despite living through the Burke years. I'd say he's a good bet to stick around for awhile and be productive. Retired player is the safest. If I got another royal blue it would be a T. Jones or a Battle but I'm old as **** and have a lot more awesome retired players to choose from. If I got my wife a jersey it would be a Cvetkovich, she has bought his calendar and loves his animal welfare work.

The stat I like about Crompton is that he threw six picks in his first three games but just three picks in the eight games since (including the semifinal) The guy has cleaned up his game real nice. Whether it's the coaching making the game simpler for him or him just making better decisions, that seems like a pretty impressive turnaround. Also, Montreal beat Calgary pretty bad in the back half of the season. Their turnaround wasn't all a mirage.

2014 Lions = 1996 Bombers? The parallels are there. In 1996, the Bombers brought in Kent Austin, who was clearly past his prime. He led the team to a 9-9 regular season and then suffered the CFL's most historically lopsided playoff loss to the Eskimos. The Bombers spent five years wandering the wilderness after that loss. I wonder if this game signals the exit of the Lions from a good run in the league's top tier? It seems like they have to move on from Lulay and Kevin Glenn has a lot of miles on his odometer. Who do you rebuild around? Beck? Drew Tate?

I've run into Rider fans half a dozen times here in Seattle and when we get to chatting they're usually pretty cool, we give each other **** but it's friendly. Last year a bunch of Rider fans bought me shots for my birthday, which was Grey Cup day. But y'know, I'm good with people.

It was 36-3 midway through the 3rd quarter. There was no reason for Crompton to put the ball up for the majority of the second half, which is a big reason why his passing yardage wasn't super awesome. Also, Brink and Marsh both got significant garbage time. Neither threw a pass.

He was terrific at the red zone option play last year too. We ran it over and over and it couldn't be stopped. It was the one thing Crowton got right. When Burke benched Goltz, we had the best red zone offense in the league.

Love Mo Legg as a playmaker but don't like his tackling. He got beat a number of times going one-on-one against the ball carrier and quite a few of his tackles got shrugged off. I think Brack is a much more reliable tackler.

Brutal Montreal game plan. It's Week 20 in the CFL, rainy and windy, and you've got Jonathan "747" Crompton hucking the ball 35 times? I love the Montreal receivers but JC isn't a good enough passer for that game plan to work at all.

I don't know what triggers the concussion protocol, but Collaros didn't leave the game at all. The big hit happened at the end of the third quarter, so he had a bit of time to shake it off before the fourth quarter started. Didn't see exactly what happened on the field because TSN was playing the between-quarters commercials. It sure looked (and sounded) like a big hit though.

There's that sick clunk of a helmet-to-helmet hit ... Collaros is flat on his back on the field ... sure hope he's okay. edit: and he stays in the game, but on the next play he sure didn't look sharp, hunting around, ball extended, trying to figure out where Grigsby was so he could hand it off. And then he throws a couple slick passes and its Hamilton TD.

Coaching isn't the issue. Having a crappy GM who screwed up his qbs was. The Glenn/Burris thing & now the Burris albatross contract no one will want. You really think that Kevin Glenn would've put up more wins than Burris did this year, playing behind that OL? That seems ... like a odd thing to believe. Also, don't forget that trading Glenn allowed them to pick up Antoine Pruneau, a very good young starting Canadian. You want to hang something on Desjardins, you can point at their crappy import receiving corps. But I think he's played his QB situation fine. He basically got a bonus starting Canadian by signing Burris and trading Glenn.
