  1. yeah first that Calgary guy Weegar holds Scheif to prevent him from scoring and then the refs call the hold on Scheif that was non-existent.  I was swearing at the TV at that point.  Thank goodness the boys won the shoot out - though it looked like Calgary wasn't even trying to win it, shooting the puck right at Helle on every shot.  I knew Gabe and his magic hands would win the day.

Some mildly interesting stuff on Bonfire last night....

Bauming indicated that O'Shea very much "runs things at Princess Auto Stadium"... That he's the one who is in charge of everything.

Re: Kent Austin and why he would leave a cushy job in the NCAA, apparently he has expressed interest to people in the CFL about coming back again, according to Farhan Lalji. Farhan seemed to think he'd be a good fit in Winnipeg having played here before, but also said that Jordan Younger would be a good choice as well, and might be the only way to keep him from returning to Toronto with Osh.

The only guy I want to see follow Osh to Toronto is Jake Thomas....and maybe Kolo too...

We have no idea how they came to that arrangement though - that could have been something they (Miller, MOS & Walters) sat down and discussed when negotiating a new deal.  Toronto is reportedly offering MOS significant control over personnel if he goes there and Dinwiddie also said he was doing some GM duties for the Argos so this may not be as abnormal as you think.

we may see the first "All Canadian" team in CFL history....

...it definitely time and he will be looked at in bomber history as one of the greats..but also flawed leading to his end

    so no different than....

    1.  Bud Grant

    2. Cal Murphy

    3.  Dave Ritchie

Seems to be the fate of all coaches eventually.  Their loyalty to old vets costs them their jobs, in the end.  The problem in Winnipeg is that after we have these dynasties, we suck...for soooooo freaking long....

  5. Eleven years is a lifetime in the CFL.  Other than Cal Murphy I don't know anyone, even Bud Grant, who hung around that long with the Bombers and who had so much success.  But it's clear that it's time to move on for Mike.  We all knew this day was coming.  Now, will we pull a major boner and replace O'Shea with a Reinebold kind of fool like we did with old Cal in 1997, and wallow in sadness and mediocrity for two years, or will we find someone who can carry on the tradition of winning?  I do like the FIFO mentally that O'Shea brought to the locker room.  That's something I hope we can keep going.  FIFO is very important.  We lose that and we're back to the dark days of 2013 again very quickly.
