  1. Your post makes no sense. How do you get 7 good NI starters if you don't take the best player available (with consideration to availability around the NFL factored in)? Having a bunch of OL who might be ready to play in 2-3 years won't help us. Gotta draft and develop those mid-round guys into being players. How many 1st round picks on Calgary's OL or Saskatchewan's? We desperately need players who can play now regardless of position. Draft 1 OL with the first overall and pencil him in as a 2nd year starter. Draft 1 OL later in the draft and HOPE he will eventually turn into something down the line. Use the mid-rounds to bolster the rest of the NI roster. Gotta use your top picks to upgrade where you need to and for the Bombers, that's O lineman. That's how you end up with no top end Canadians. It's the Taman plan, look at the Riders roster, look at what he did here. They are SOL when Getzlaf and Foley are done. Might as well trade picks for good players if you aren't going to take the best player in the draft. It's actually how you end up with a top O line, which in turn makes life easier for your QB, RB, and receivers.

  3. I prefer experienced coaches, but I'd take Garcia for OC over MB any day of the week.
  4. Horrible day for the Lions, but I don't think there will be major changes in BC in the off season. Benevides will keep his job. Not sure Khari keeps his. Washington put together a great defense for most of the season, so he keeps his job. I can see a bunch of players getting changed out though.
  5. If/when we get to the point where we have 7 good NI starters, then we can afford to take the best player. Until then put me on the best O lineman, not best player side. Folks around here want the Bombers to pick Demski, who they consider the best player. They don't seem to understand that good teams a built from the lines out. We've had a bunch of GM's who followed the best player, in their minds, strategy and it's only worked once with Muamba. Meanwhile, we've had a poor O line for years.
  6. Hate the 15 yard little push penalty after the play and it should have been offensive PI on the TD IMO. I guess the refs hate BC like they hate Wpg. Not the reason BC's losing though. BC's playing badly, led by Glenn's embarrassing bad play. (Note: I'm not one of the Glenn haters)
  7. I agree with getting rid of Etch and I believe O'Shea will have a hard, if not impossible, time pulling the trigger.
  8. Good move. Stoudemire's the best returner we've had in a long time.
  9. This weekend, we've got 3 teams starting their backup QB's and one who's starting a QB with less than half a year's starting experience. Low scoring affairs IMHO. BC over Montreal - Glenn's the best backup QB in the league. Been there. Done that. Montreal's wins have mostly come against the eastern teams. Edmonton over Regina - Reilly out will make a huge difference so this one will likely be close, but Edmonton's a better team overall and if they can stop the run, they'll be off to Calgary next week.
  10. Guarantee Walters wouldn't do this though. You're probably right, but I wasn't talking about what the Bombers would do. I was talking about what I would do.
  11. I'd fire O'Shea to get Trestman in a second and I wouldn't worry about the optics. In fact, I think the optics would be that we just got better and that would help in bringing in coaches and players.
  12. IMHO: No Ray = No Way to Win, even against Ottawa. Get ready for our #2 draft pick to become the #3 pick in each round.
  13. Milanovich isn't quitting his CFL HC job to become anyone's CFL OC. Ottawa would offer him their HC job (We should too, but probably wouldn't). US Universities might offer him an HC job that pays more than he'd ever get in the CFL.
  14. I don't mind the question if O'Shea's job was safe and I don't mind the answer.
  15. I'm not interested in bringing back any of the coordinators. MB's offense hasn't changed since he made Calvillo look like he was done. He's had a year and a half with the Bombers and we've seen the results. Our offense isn't going to get much better as long as we have him as OC. Etch's defense is what we thought it would be. He isn't going to change to a more conventional defense or a 3-4. I think the CFL has moved forward and Etch hasn't moved with the times. I worry that the Bombers brass will use the 'We beat the best team in the league in the last game' as an excuse to keep the coordinators and expect to turn it around next year like we did after that 4 win season a few years back. I'd prefer they make the decisions in the next couple of weeks and use Grey Cup week to do interviews.
  16. Watson's not an 18 game guy and he isn't a difference maker anymore when he is in. Having 3 NI receivers would handcuff our offense IMHO.
  17. Isn't the $100 discount for buying your season tickets for the next 3 years? In other words only folks who have season tickets and are willing to get into a 3 year contract get the discount.
  18. I'm not worried about losing Sears to the NFL. I doubt he even gets a sniff. Wild on the other hand could get a shot and I'd hate to lose him.
  19. Darn. Now we need Toronto to win next week to keep our 2nd rank picks in each draft round.
  20. and yet still only gave up 13 points. I understand that people want a different system but the rushing yards given up haven't translated into a lot of points on the score board most nights. We only gave up 13 points because Calgary gave the ball away 6 times, not because rushing yards don't matter.
  21. I'm going with BC, probably because I'm out here and hear a lot more about them than any other team. Also, I'm a fan of Wally Buono. Followed his career since his days in Calgary.
  22. Marve outplayed Willy in the game. He moved the pocket. He extended plays. He threw accurately on the run. He showed off a quick release to beat the blitz. He ran the ball. He threw a short ball for a TD instead of looking for the deep one in the back of the end zone. All in all, the best we could have hoped for of a rookie QB in those conditions. I think his play yesterday means we don't have to 'overpay' to re-sign Brohm, but it doesn't mean that Marve is fighting for the #1 spot next year.
  23. Interesting that you removed the entire part of my post that talked about how I see the Winnipeg media. If you bothered to read any of it, you wouldn't say I was aligning with the writers. The writers aren't 'getting away' with anything. They are doing what they will always do... writing stuff that folks will talk about. I asked you 2 questions. You responded by saying one was accurate, but you didn't explain how it could be. If you agree with an inaccurate heading, to me, that means you're aligning with the writer. The rest of it is pablum, and I didn't ask about it, therefore I didn't include it. You didn't answer the second part. Your 2 questions were the same question rephrased. First about the article. Second about the thread topic. I explained it, you simply don't agree with my explanation. That's not the same thing as agreeing with your opinion or agreeing with the writers.
