Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors
Mike replied to Nasty Nate's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Other than the fact that this falls under the umbrella of "Bomber politics", so you feel obligated to write up a tinfoil hat story about it, why does this even matter? The board of directors may be a pretty incompetent group, but this isn't an example of that at all. The board is just supposed to accept Sam Katz's nomination because why? He said so? And the guy is a long time season ticket holder? Sam Katz got rid of Phil Sheegl primarily because he was no longer representing the City of Winnipeg and that's what that particular spot on the board is for. If that's why he got rid of Sheegl, then why should the club just accept another nomination of his who doesn't represent CoW either? -
That'd be nearly impossible because the CFL doesn't allow you to store anywhere near enough contracts to deal with a mass amount of injuries.

January is so underrated here it's criminal
-
Probably dealt with those questions at the combine.
-
If they want Smith, they'd be silly to not do that deal.

Yep. Technically, the rule isn't a minimum amount of Canadians. It's just a maximum amount of Americans that leaves you with a balance of 7 spaces to fill with Canadians.

Sounds like he can...just not very well. Yeah, I don't really get how two teams could be interested in this guy. He was a fourth team selection in D3 college ball. How good can he be?

What? In the NFL....I think the bombers have learned their lesson about selecting NFL bound guys with their first picks. Of course, we've also drafted a few dogs with first round picks, too - going off the board to avoid NFL-destined guys. What does that have to do with Lavertu though ... he's one of the top guys who has had no NFL interest as of yet. Probably meant Foucault - Tardif is pretty much off everyone's charts - might have a team burn a 4th to 6th rounder on him. lol what do you mean probably? Aren't you the one who said it? Shouldn't you know what you meant?

Most people aren't projecting Smith as a defensive lineman. They're projecting him as a guy who is going to transition to offensive line. His footwork seems to have scouts believing he can be a legit force on the interior line. Hypothetically, you COULD go with two non-imports at DT and rotate Smith, Shologan and Evans while you slowly transition Smith to the OL.

Not in the CFL. So the girls that appear at community events get paid nothing? That's not what I heard... Not only do they get paid nothing, they have to complete a minimum amount of hours per season. That must have changed in recent years then. Maybe. It's been that way for at least 3 years. They used to have their mileage covered when they traveled out of town for rural community events and stuff but they don't even have that anymore.

Not in the CFL.

What I'd do ... pick Foucault What I think they'll do ... pick Foucault or Smith If Lavertu is available, pick him 100% If neither Foucault or Lavertu are available, pick Smith

Remember Jason Vega is back with the Bombers this season too. He'll be a mainstay on the DL as well... Vega is an end.

January is a B- guy for an import, B if he was Canuck. Greaves is still learning - should be a B+ canuck but in current dismal system he's only a B, Morley is reallly bad (too slow), a C- canadian at best, Pencer & Swiston remain un-graded due to lack of action - if only one of them could be a solid B to B+ starter. Neufeld was seen as a B to B+ guy in waiting in Sask'n but injuries have riddled him. If he's all healed up and top shape lets hope he's better than C+, perhaps B to B+ starter. Biggest problem for O'Shea - we ain't got no A o-linemen; not even an A- guy. I can't possibly understand someone being able to give out grades on offensive linemen they've never seen play. You can't expect anyone to believe you're able to form an accurate opinion on an offensive lineman from a television.

If Petan was 6 feet tall, he would've been a top 10 pick.

I'm curious to see what comes of this because Kevin Smith is ULTRA talented. But injury issues is putting it lightly. The guy has a reputation for getting hurt by a stiff wind.

The thing about Quinn Smith ... and I'm just going off secondhand information ... is that he was always hovering in that 15-20 range of the rankings, it's not like he was off the radar completely. The problem he had is that he was playing on an absolutely awful team.

^^ agreed

Don't like that comment at all. No pressure kid.
