The way I look at it - it's a veteran presence in the secondary / linebacking group. Not to mention even at 33, this guy brings it on special teams. I don't like a lot of these old age signings (such as Bryant last year) but I like Shell.

And now he's officially been added to the practice roster.

Interesting - wonder if they view him as a veteran presence for what is a fairly young linebacking core.

I can't wait until the regular season starts, preseason crowd is ... bad. Some guy in my row shoved me out of the way because he tried to walk by my seat in the middle of a play and I asked him to wait until the play was over.

I'm sure he'll be gone when Troy is back.

The roster on bluebombers.com is changing non-stop at the moment so I think any cuts I tweeted out may be premature. Darren Cameron said the site is having issues at the moment.

Marve's accomplishments occurred with under 6 minutes of playing time. Willy played an entire half + the first series of the third. Marve also played against a defense who was very obviously playing to prevent anything big and left the entire intermediate portion of the field wide open. Not to sensationalize things, but Marve was essentially 0/3 on throws he actually had to earn. He played well, but that performance didn't inspire much more confidence in him than I already had - a moderate amount.

Bombers actually were pretty high on this guy a while back, he was on our negotiation list. He's also showing himself to be a bit of a goober on Twitter. Still .. something to watch for.

QB - Willy, Brohm, Marve RB - Cotton, Normand FB - Pontbriand REC - Moore, Denmark, Adams, Gordon, Kohlert, Feoli-Gudino, Richards, Bastien OL - Bryant, Greaves, Picard, Chungh, Daniels, Goossen DL - Westerman, Turner, Anderson, Peach, Gibson, I. Brown, Collins LB - Hurl, Wright, Randle, Waggoner, Newman, Briggs DB - Adams, Washington, Richardson, Bucknor, Jones, Unamba S - Leggett, Sherman K - Hajrullahu LS - Rempel KR - Stoudermire (whoever wins the job will go here until he's healthy - maybe Anderson? or maybe they split between Cotton/Gordon and dress a guy like Cameron Marshall also)

I think Normand gets on instead of Lattanzio and out of that list ... I have no idea who sits. Thomas? Briggs? We're actually suddenly pretty deep.

I understand what you're saying, but this is a bit different. This is a fan community and for as long as I can remember, we've always helped eachother out with tickets to preseason games.

Not surprised, Wright is a heck of a player. I'm not sure where he ends up, but I feel like he could easily start at WIL or SAM for us.

Really bummed about Tuinei and Brown. Starting to look like we failed in DE recruiting again this year, which is incredibly disappointing.

I highly doubt that another game's worth of reps would have hurt him in any way. If anything I believe it would have helped him grow. Hindsight doesn't mean anything. Having a pro rookie as your number 2 QB behind a guy in his first year as a starter would've been lunacy.

The cuts could have been decided on soon after the first game. The only reason to keep practising the guys you're going to cut in just in case a player ahead of them on the depth chart gets injured. Even if that happened, do you really want to keep a player you were willing to cut in the first set of cuts? No one's played themselves on or off the team since the game. The players on the bubble have waited 5 long days and nights to find out if they still have jobs next week. They've practised as hard as they can this week hoping that will be enough to get another chance. Now they get one more uncomfortable day/night jumping every time there's a knock on the door. More maybe's? Really? Can't get hold of them by phone tonight? In this day and age. Weak argument at best. Stupid argument at worst. Weren't you one of the guys who said a voice mail was an OK way to cut a player last year anyway? (I don't agree BTW) Assuming the decision's have been made, they could have told the players to come to the office after practise today and told them in person before announcing it. Is tonight a night off for the players? Red herring unless it's true. Final call on the number they have to cut? Today? Really? They've known since before TC how many players they have to cut today. Waiting on the Doctor's? To tell them what? No 1 game IR at this time of the year IIRC. Anyone hurt badly enough to 6 game them? I'd think they'd already know if that's even a possibility. Still arguing who should be cut? At this late date. Those decisions should already have been made. Keep bathing in your ignorance and keep making excuses based on 'What if's' that no one can prove or disprove. Obviously you missed my point about the injuries, which is less than surprising given your fondness for not actually doing any research before you provide your take on things, but while there is no 1 game IR at this time of year, it's fair game to place injured players on the suspended list (as Hamilton has already done, for example)
