  2. MBB meetup is actually a really good idea.
  3. Can I come fan you and feed you berries while you watch or did Dave already call dibs?
  4. HA!I appreciate anyone who puts training camp reports up, but you sir, give the impression that this is SRS BSNS and get uppity when someone else gets more credit than you do. Definitely comes across as attention and approval seeking. For me it's all about giving credit where credit is due. That's how I am at work and it's very much appreciated by my subordinates, colleagues and my supervisors. It's not about seeking approval or attention. Different environment here I guess... This isn't supposed to be like work, man. It's supposed to be a bunch of dudes shooting the **** about a football team. It's pretty ironic that I'm sitting here saying this now, because I used to be the same way and I wanted to receive credit for all the perceived "work" I do to try and get a jump on player signings and stuff but after a while, I realized who cares? I'm doing it because I like doing it and there's no reward to be handed out. The fact that I can share it with a group of people who enjoy getting the jump on Bomber news as much as I do is enough for me, it gives us something to talk about and that's what it's all about. You'll learn I suppose but make no mistake, you react the way you do right now because you're in it for the approval and/or attention. There's no such thing as "credit" around here that isn't attention or approval based, you're not writing down all your "scoops" to form a resume. Disclaimer I still hate when the media steals stuff like that from our site / Twitter feed so I'll always ***** about that.
  5. Gbill we all appreciate your reports but quite truthfully, the reason you get ribbed about it is because you've kind of proven you can't take a joke. Passing along what you saw at camp last year was awesome, but it is admittedly humorous to see you take all the ribbing you get so seriously. If you just brushed off even 50% of the stuff that you overreact to and took it for the joke it's meant to be, I'm sure people would probably stop ribbing you. It's all in good fun though man, it's just the internet.
  6. I'll pay extra to ensure it is someone other than gbillThat's fine. But if I recall, my Bomber TC and practice reports were really appreciated on here last year. I guess those aren't wanted again this season.Yer gonna take your reports and go home, cartman? No not at all, but if they aren't wanted, what's the point in wasting my time writing them? I was under the impression they were appreciated, but based on the comments in here, I guess not. Do it because you enjoy it, not because you want approval from others. FWIW, I enjoy the information you provided last training camp.
  7. You need a second punter even if it's just so you don't wear out your main guy in camp.
  8. But he is more than a returner. Which is the point. He is an excellent multi dimensional player with the stats to back it up. I dont like the silliness either to to fluff him off as an average player who's being overrated is assinine. IMO (and it pains me to say this, because the Bombers had Lawrence and let him go last year) Kendial Lawrence is easily a more talented player than Banks. Total combined yardage last year was 1968 for Banks, 1819 for Lawrence. Give Banks the advantage until you see that Banks put up 1968 in 16 games. Lawrence put up 1819 in an astounding 9 games. That's over 200 yards a game. But nobody cares about Lawrence because he weighs more than 150 pounds and doesn't whine like a little brat.
  9. wait, you want to fundraise to send someone else to Florida for a weekend? Personally, if it meant we actually got some decent coverage, I'd be happy to flip a few bucks every month for the next year to send somebody to go. Even if it's you.
  10. "I base my posts 100% off facts and logic" Lol
  11. If Brandon Banks was six feet tall, nobody would talk about him as much as they do. Sure, he can break the big one. So can a lot of guys. He knows how to market himself though, that's for sure. He's no better than guys like Kendial Lawrence and Troy Stoudermire in the return game.
  12. Doesn't fly with me. Should have nothing to do with the Jets. It's not like the Free Press opted to not send anyone. They sent their regular Bombers beat writer and he did his regular terrible job.
  13. Stuff I would have loved to have known from mini camp -- The Bombers held an open tryout on the day before mini camp at IMG and it was reported they moved 6 players from that tryout to mini camp. Who were they? -- Who have they already signed that was there that looked rough and might be out of a contract? -- Why were guys like Jarrid Bryant and Nate Collins, who are CFL rookies under contract, not present? -- Did either of the 2 new quarterbacks do ANYTHING to earn a shot in training camp? There wasn't a single mention of them in any article. -- These defensive backs or receivers that were impressive sound nice. Do we get to know anything about them other than that they caught the ball or kept someone from catching the ball? Are they slots or wideouts? Corners or halfbacks? Instead we get absolute ****ing nonsense like this article. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/bombers-impressed-with-new-talent-300892861.html?cx_navSource=d-tiles-1 Look at the headline. "Bombers impressed with new talent" Now read the entire first part prior to the page break. Literally no mention of a single player, although somehow Wiecek managed to reference Maria Sharapova, talk about breakfast, the cafeteria and Dodgertown. If you managed to make it past then THEN you get some information on the individual talents out of mini camp, almost entirely pieced together from other articles. If this was Ed Tait going down there, we'd be spoiled with an entire listing of the mini camp roster, who stood out good and bad by position, a background on each player and probably much more. Seriously such a joke.
  14. He's such a clown.
  15. BC with the lowball but yet again, Desjardins continues to bid against himself. Probably could've had him for something around 180k realistically.
  16. You'll get more from a goalie prospect though. Morissey for Eberle wouldn't be close to getting it done. Eberle is a proven player already, Morissey isn't. Morrissey for Eberle is probably a lot closer than we think. But I agree we have to add.
  17. Errrr yeah we would
  18. I sure hope the team doesn't bank on Derrell Johnson like we are. We need at least one or two more guys that aren't on the roster today to push that spot in camp. Really drives me nuts how poor the coverage of mini camp was. Would love to know the type of perspective we get from fans who go to mini camp, not just quotes from coaches and stuff. Who looked good? Who didn't? Irving has a good eye for that stuff but my god, I think Wiecek has written about 6 articles in 3 days and I can't say there's even an ounce of football analysis in them. But if you want to hear about how the players got screwed out of breakfast, he's worth a read. We should send somebody to mini camp next year.
  19. No way in hell would I want Marcus Henry.
  20. Ladd may have played his heart out and given it an A+ effort last night but he also played like dog **** the entire series, effort excluded.
  21. Very impressive move by them to bring him in. But I can't help but wonder ... how is Desjardins going to have screwed this up? Between Price, Jackson, Williams, Ellingson and Sinopoli ... how are they going to afford to keep this together for more than a year?
  22. I want Stempniak and Stafford back. Could go either way on Frolik. Don't need Tlusty back. Aside from that, I'm not opposed to letting Byfuglien walk at this point. He's had a brutal series and I think the team is building an identity without him. I've characterized him as the "face" of the aggressive identity of the Jets, but I don't think he is anymore. I could go either way on him. I want to see them make room for Ehlers at this point. Not sure what else.
  23. I wonder if Wiecek ever takes a look in the mirror and asks himself why the Winnipeg media doesn't get respect from the football club. I bet you Drew Edwards would be allowed to interview the assistants here. I bet you Scott Mitchell would too. I feel bad for Penton. He deserves respect that he probably doesn't get because of guys like Wiecek.
  24. Can't even give the guy the respect of having his name printed in the papers correctly. Not even a typo. His name is Derrell Johnson, not Derrell Jackson.
  25. But will they want him then? Serious questions on his character now and whether he could be trusted if he decided he wanted to play again. You might be right. I imagine telling O'Shea in particular "my hearts not in it" was not a wise career move. lucky for him he has a very forgiving passport
