  1. BC Lions ‏@BCLions 3m #BCLions have made offers to: OL Josh Bourke S Craig Butler OL Wayne Smith LB Shea Emry WR Nick Moore #CFLFA14 @CFL Expand
  2. CFL Official Feed ‏@CFL 1m TRADE ALERT: @CalStampeders ship Justin Phillips to @REDBLACKS for pair of #CFLDraft picks - http://ow.ly/tvUI0 #CFL
  3. Had that thought myself .. Calgary has the 23, 24 and 25 picks in this draft .. would Calgary take a 3rd round pick for Glenn though or would Calgary have to give up the 16th pick?
  4. Former CFL ILB Henoc Muamba's contract with the Colts is for three years and includes $107,000 guaranteed. It's a solid sum for a player GM Ryan Grigson is essentially signing off the street. (That's how ex-CFL players are viewed in contract terms by NFL teams.) Muamba was a high-impact middle linebacker for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and is only 25 years old. Always casting a wide net for talent, Grigson unearthed Jerrell Freeman from similar obscurity and he's become a high-end NFL starter.
  5. Best wishes to Cvetty going forward. As others have said, the guy gave selflessly to the community. Can't ask for much more from a player.
  6. Exactly. No one has ever even expressed mild interest in owning a CFL team. The Maritimes are a wasteland of failed AHL teams... No other pro sports have ever been there. That's not entirely true. The Ice Caps are extremely successful in St Johns. But will probably move simply due to logistics of travel. But it's a very successful profitable team. Not to split hairs but NL is not considered a Maritime province ... #TheMoreYouKnow
  7. Would rather see another team in Quebec before the maritimes. I think that's a more viable location than Halifax .. *shrug*
  8. Congrats to Henoc. It's a damned shame to see him go (though I'll still be repping my Muamba jersey at IGF this year) .. wish him all the best and hopefully he sticks down south .. if not .. hopefully he gives serious consideration to rejoining the Blue and Gold.
  9. Likely three guys who could start .. my guess .. two draw into the lineup and one can rotate through / backup ..
  10. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/02/05/losing-muamba-just-salt-in-the-wound-for-blue-bombers I believe the Bombers were already offering him that. I think, as someone previously mentioned, the Bombers were essentially offering a blank cheque .. indicating they would match (beat) any offer his camp received.
  11. I hear Bourke's footwork in the pocket leaves something to be desired, but he's got good arm strength and accuracy. Runs a mean sneak as well.
  12. Ya kno, it doesn't surprise me one ounce that you already think this without even getting out of the off-season.. Stay classy bud. Keep the faith!! Forget class, sell me on all the great things that have transpired this off season. Granted, he still has many months to make it happen, but so far are you honestly impressed? Or are you just being "positive?" Oy. Can we sell you on the fact that we avoided a giant albatross of a contract on Burris; and that Hamilton and Kent Austin were a flashier sell for Collaros instead? Way too early to be passing judgment on Walters. The mess that Mack left the organization in... pile on all that you want. But way too early to judge Walters. Fair response and I appreciate you indulging my question. Still, he could've easily over paid for Burris and just cut the guy next year. I am fine with Glenn, but Desjardins is going to anally pound us for him. And Lizard is going to have to take it. Which is a great idea if you're looking to solve one problem by creating another one. If that's how he thinks business is done, he'll quickly develop a reputation that is just as bad as the one we have now. We're trying to rebuild our image as an appealing football club to join up with. Signing guys only to cut them a year later for no reason other than money troubles is not how you establish that. Also reeks of someone with no long term vision ... again .. not a selling feature.
  13. Just reading a couple of Wiceck's tweets on this subject (and with respect to the Sims signing) .. guy comes off as quite the uninformed ****** with his weak attempt to rile up the masses ..
  14. Burris is a splashy free agent signing .. something that a fledgling club, trying to generate interest in their product, is wont to do .. this isn't for the long term .. it's a short term create hype right now type of deal.
  15. Happy for Muamba getting an opportunity down south .. but as a Bomber fan .. losing a quality NI is a swift kick in the nuts .. knowing our luck the last while .. it wouldn't shock me if Muamba now signs with another CFL team as opposed to a specific NFL opportunity .. (tongue and cheek)
  16. I dunno he's already been canned from the only other GM position he held how good is he really? Remember how hard everyone laughs at the Printers contract in Hamilton, guess who gave that one out. Was going to say .. the hot mess that was Hamilton begs to differ ..
  17. If Muamba signs and NFL contract .. I'll wish him all the best .. until that time .. I will chalk all this up to an agent who thinks he has a team over a barrel and is attempting to maximize his client's value.
  18. Or crushed under the weight of a fan-base's unrealistic expectations .. Imagine Bomber fans wanting a playoff spot. Not a GC championship Just a playoff spot. Oh & some respect. Yep, unrealistic alright. My point is more to the fact that the vast majority of uneducated fans are going to expect whomever it is that lines up behind centre to work miracles and simply go out and win .. they aren't ready for a young quarterback to struggle .. to allow that player to learn to fight through adversity and eek out tough wins .. to grow from those tough loses .. people are going to want to yank him at the first sign of trouble .. it's a sure fire way to destroy the confidence of a young player and it's part of the reason why we find ourselves in this situation now .. Why would they be ready and willing to site through young Qb's struggling? Theyve already been doing this for 5 years.. Just because the management team has changed doesnt mean the expectations for the team will change. You can't do the same ******* thing for a 6th season in a row and expect the fan base that supports the team to go " No worries.. We will sit here while you rebuild for the 3rd time in 6 years" Walters isn't responsible for getting the team into the mess but he for ******* sure is responsible for getting the team out of this mess and to do it quickly. This is my point exactly (or I should say your reaction is at any rate). Fans won't have the patience to let Willy grow and develop .. nor would they have with Collaros .. these are young guys .. with tools .. but not a whole lot of experience .. there will be ups and downs .. there will be struggles with those guys .. fans will be on them if they struggle and the weight of those expectations .. to deliver us from the dark ages .. is staggering ..
  19. Quality NI linemen are worth their weight in gold. No sense investing in your QB (for now or the future) if you can't put that player in the best spot possible to succeed ..
  20. Good luck to Ottawa. And if I were Glenn I'd want a little revenge for being used like an old *****. If Ottawa can pay all 3 QBs I'll eat my ball cap. I hope Kohlert meant what he said about going to FA and re-signing with Wpg. 400K. If this is true all the people slamming Walters and Miller owe them a huge apology. 400K is BS. I won't fault Burris for going out and getting as much money as he can .. his prerogative .. that said .. I'm very glad we didn't cave and pony up that kind of coin ..

  22. Thought this was a very well balanced article .. the last part underscores my viewpoint on this whole mess:
  23. Or crushed under the weight of a fan-base's unrealistic expectations ..
  24. Then Neiswander becomes available And that helps us how exactly? I don't understand the love for Neiswander .. ... at all.
