  1. I’m doing that already with Ayers so … status quo?
  2. I've been beating that drum since that feature first became available .. self moderation is a wonderful thing.
  3. I won’t rehash what everyone else has said but just some random thoughts: We have way too many guys on this team who are good at many things but not great at any one thing. There are too many “quiet leaders” on defense; there’s no presence or attitude on that side of the ball. I’m not talking performative nonsense but something that says when we’re on d .. you better be strapped up and ready to go because we’re going to make you earn everything. They certainly don’t have an identity or know what they’re trying to be .. though I guess hot mess could be that identity. We lack a man in the middle of the defensive line who can eat blocks, take up space, push the middle of the pocket and allow the linebackers to flow. Is wanting a linebacker who doesn’t over pursue and can step into a ******* hole and bury a guy too much to ask for? New season. Growing pains and all that. Last night was a brutal exhibition of defense in our home opener.
  4. Zach’s arm is cooked.
  5. 95 yards rushing from Mills in less than a half .. WT actual F
  6. Jake Thomas made a play every once in awhile.
  7. Is Richie Hall still around .. asking for a friend.
  8. Williams quit on that.
  9. I think the Kramdi experiment needs to end sooner than later.
  10. He’s always been a a performative nozzle.
  11. Ayers has no business taking regular reps on defense.
  12. I would have liked to see how Elgersma performed with a better supporting cast. Talk about not setting a dude up for success. Yeeesh.
  13. Yards per target is a flawed statistic in that it tries to measure a receiver's efficiency but doesn't account for route depth or QB play. It's also less sticky (predictive) in that it measures things outside a receiver's control (play calling, defence, target volume and overall QB play). To put this in context, yes, Lawler's yards per target was relatively "low" in your example (anything over 9.5 is generally considered pretty remarkable) but he also had the highest average depth of target in the league at 18.2 yards and high ADOT generally reflects a lower catch percentage and lower YAC total. A better measure (and more predictive) statistic would be yards per route run because it strips away bias, measures overall offensive value and reflects a player's ability to both earn a target and do something with that target. Lawler has consistently put up elite numbers (top receiver's general post anywhere from 2.0 to 4.0 YPRR) and last year, Lawler was second in the league at 2.15 (behind only KeeSean Johnson at 2.29). His last year with the Bombers he posted a ridiculous 2.75 YPRR but he's consistently at the top of the CFL in this measure - it's part of the reason he got the bag he did. Personally, I like to look at both YPRR and YAC independently but neither of those things replace the eye test. I don't think anyone can reasonably argue that Lawler isn't a playmaker with game breaking potential. In fact, every poster on this board has seen him single handedly take over games. Is he worth the money Hamilton paid? I don't think so but I'm not running the Cats.
  14. I think Walters has more freedom to build a complete roster. That kind of cash tied up in a non-QB really limits what you can do. Good on Kenny for getting the bag though.
  15. Was just here to say .. 7 is terrible.
  16. Wolitarsky signing a one-day contract to retire as a Bomber. Winnipeg Blue BombersDrew Wolitarsky Retires as a Blue Bomber - Winnipeg Blue...The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the signing of Drew Wolitarsky to a one-day contract so he can officially retire as a member of the football club. Wolitarsky, 30, spent seven of his eight Can.
  17. Moved this to the General Forum. While fascinating and potentially impactful, this is not specifically Blue Bomber or CFL related. Carry on!
  18. Running back the core of a roster that *clearly* wasn't good enough last season ... what could go wrong?
  19. It's incredible to me that you insist others "look things up" yet still be so confidently wrong. The $412K and change increase from last year went directly to salary expenditures (salary and bonuses). It explicitly excludes pre / post season compensation, per diems, pension payments and the 6-game injured list.
  20. I think whomever is planting their flag in the ground and saying "it's all this guys fault" is incredibly short sighted. I wish I could live in a world where everything was so black and white. To go from where we were at a few short seasons ago to where we are now, multiple guys get to wear the horns. Even acknowledging all of that, we are an organization that's enjoyed an unparalleled level of success (on and off the field) these last several years.
  21. His protection has been getting worse year over year for the last three or so years and Zach been increasingly uncomfortable in the pocket. Scheme (this year) was definitely a factor but Zach himself has gotten happy feet and he's as much to blame for the shots he takes as the inadequacy of the offensive line or any offensive scheme.
  22. So punishment versus justice .. got it.
  23. No .. I'm looking at two different situations dispassionately and see one man with a documented history of bullshit and the other doing something completely out of character. It's not the same thing.
