Hey ref .. spot the ball where he starts his slide.
-
Defence needs to feed a little off the offence’s energy and start making plays.

Working too hard.
Too interested in “making a play” instead of playing disciplined.

Special Teams are .. special .. again.

Looks to me like McRae is the man out allowing Schmekel to dress as D-Line #7, when Jeffcoat is back I expect that Haba would stay on and Schmekel would be the odd man out.
Schmekel is a complete waste of a roster spot.
If we didn't invest draft capital in him this year (ie. if we had picked him up as a free agent) he likely wouldn't be with the team any longer.

And let's be totally honest with respect to Jackson - for all his grit and versatility he's not particularly good at any one job.
I like the story but if we're hanging our hats on his "blocking ability" or "defensive utility" then we are simply wasting a spot on game day that could go toward a player that can have a greater impact overall.

I too really would like to see Haba! But I don't think he will be on at the expense of Jackson.
Jeffcoat is out and Haba is in.

We have no reason to believe that. Everything we've ever seen is that Osh, Walters and Wade do things in lockstep. Not saying that's still the case but that's the only rea evidence we have.
Not lockstep per se but they respect the boundaries of each position and allow them to do their jobs without interference. That's the key thing that's made our turnaround possible.
O'Shea's first few seasons weren't stellar and there was a lot of the typical knee jerk stuff being posted on various forums. Miller stayed the course. Walters stayed the course. They allowed coach to grow, build and develop the culture we have now. It's paid huge dividends in terms of our competitiveness and respectability as an organization.
That said (and as other's have noted) O'Shea has always made a few head scratching decisions that gives us fodder to keep chewing on.

Pruned a few posts here.
Keep the discussion civil and above board please.

I chose to hide a number of posts in this thread because it had all kinds of potential to go sideways (there were a couple of good replies to the original post but due to quotes etc please consider it an issue of friendly fire and me simply trying to get the conversation back to where it should be).
If anyone who was impacted has an issue with it you can PM me directly.

Honestly that game comes down to 2 things for me: receivers didn't make catches and collaros appears to have the yips. Has for a while now. He just doesn't have the same swagger he had previously. Off on his throws, doesn't trust his protection. Not sure what's going on with the guy.
It goes back to last year in the Grey Cup game. Zach didn’t look particularly solid there either but his play (this year) is really emblematic of the team’s performance as a whole.
We simply don’t know what to expect week in week out. This edition of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is wildly inconsistent.

Has anyone else noticed our offense has morphed into how it was when Buck Pierce was QB? Feast for Famine, no sustained drives - lots of all-or-nothing style of play (1st down incomplete passes etc)
It’s a Lapo offence.

Yes but also from the rulebook:
*Each team has one challenge per game
They had zero challenges available when regulation ended as they had no timeouts.
There's nothing in the rules that says the zero becomes one in OT.
The one thing you’re all forgetting is all scoring plays are automatically reviewed.

Good game by the Riders.
I’m angry we lost. I’m angry because we’ve looked like this several times this year.
This is what happens when you stubbornly refuse to make roster adjustments. Protection. Pressure. Special Teams. All exposed today.
O’Shea is a great coach. This wasn’t a well coached game.

I take back what I said earlier .. this isn’t the BC game. It’s Ottawa.

Who's decision was it to give up that single?
Can’t imagine it’s the coaches.

Don’t diminish what SSK has done tonight. They punched us in the mouth and we just haven’t responded the way we should.
The story of our team this year.

Guys .. going to ask this once: keep the comments on the game and not each other.
Emotions are all over the place in a typical game day thread and it’s only amplified when the team doesn’t perform as expected - be mindful of that.
With that said, Go Bombers and bring on a (better) second half.
