  1. Anywhere would have under 20K with this kind of weather. But Saskatchewan isn't just anywhere...it's the home of the self proclaimed best fans in the league. You gotta back up that kinda claim with more than a watermelon on your head. A lot of their season ticket base and fans draw from out of town. When highways are shutdown, I will give them a pass from having to swim to the game.
  2. This is a pretty cool story on Chase De Leo (drafted this year by the Jets) and Eric Comrie (Jets goalie prospect). They grew up together, and best friends. This was a pact they signed together when they were kids, and now, they are both prospects of the Jets, with a very real chance of actually playing in the NHL together.
  3. The percentage of future Grey Cups is a ridiculous ask. The team needs that revenue to even have a chance of breaking even.
  4. Mtl @ Cgy - 26,135 Tor @ Wpg - 24,872 Edm @ BC - 24,524 Ham @ SK - 19,285 I know SK had the floods going on for the game, so they get a pass on this, but for people complaining about the low turnout for the Bombers, compared to the other teams and considering last season, we did all right. Expect much closer to 30k for next week. Read on riderfans that the Argos have only sold 3,500 season tickets. Can anyone confirm that? If true, that has got to be very worrisome going forward. How does that compare to season ticket numbers in previous years? CFL lists the attendance for their pre-season game at 5,216, so maybe their season ticket numbers are that low! Actually, if I compare to 2013 numbers, they had 6,204 for their pre-season game last year and seemed to average around 20k for regular season games. So they are probably not that far off.
  5. Not a huge fan of this signing, Think we can get similar production for what he does on the ice for less money. Wonder if this is more for what he does in the dressing room. Some interesting comparables from CapGeek. http://www.capgeek.com/comparables/?player_id=351
  6. No, giving up two Canadian pieces for a 31 year old international is not a good deal.
  7. Casual fans won't really know the difference between a well played game or a sloppy game. For the most part, they will only care if their team won or not.
  8. Ott @ Wpg BC @ Mtl Ham @ Edm SK @ Tor All Eastern vs Western teams again. What are the chances that all of the Western Teams beat the Eastern teams again? Be a heck of a log jam of ties in both divisions. Might have to go buy a Sports Select ticket....
  9. Minor signing. Serviceable as a 6 - 7 depth player
  10. Hoping for Connor McDavid?
  11. Curious to see how Collaros fairs as the official "guy" as well
  12. The typical part is throwing an interception in the last minutes of the game when the pressure is on and he needs to march for the win. I don't know why people expect that Glenn would change at his age. He is a great game manager who can with with a strong team around him. As soon as you need him to step up and take control of a game and win it on his back, is when he craps the bed. Glenn is just good enough to break your heart. Good enough to get you close, but he rarely can get you to the finish.
  13. Cornish walking off the field, didn't need the ambulence.
  14. Yes of course it can happen. My question pertains more to what are the RedBlacks actual strengths? Did anyone see them in pre-season? Pre-season doesn't mean much with vanilla schemes and a bunch of players who end up getting cut. And since they don't play this week, we are going to have to wait for next week. And that can be an advantage for them, no real game film.
  15. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/06/27/winnipeg-blue-bombers-looking-to-trade-lb-korey-banks According to Penton, the Bombers are shopping Banks, he received an extension and 50k signing bonus in the off season.
  16. I think Renaud has the green light if there is no coverage out there.
  17. I'm guessing some other team.
  18. Vancouver wheeling and dealing today. Let the rebuild begin!
  19. According to Kesler's agent, there were only 2 teams given to Vancouver to swing a deal. Anaheim and Chicago. Vancouver did well given the limited options they had.
  20. I've never really been a fan of Kesler. His points in the last 5 seasons: 2013 / 14 - 43 Pts (77 games) 2012 / 13 - 13 Pts (17 games) 2011 /12 - 49 pts (77 games) 2010 / 11 - 73 Pts (82 games) 2009 / 10 - 75 Pts (82 games) If he can be the player he was back in 2009 / 2010, good deal for Anaheim, but thats a long time ago. Maybe he can regain it with Anaheim. Vancouver has to be in rebuild mode. Can't see them making the playoffs again this year, problem is a lot of their players have no trade (or limited) trade clauses. Limited upcoming prospects and they've really messed with their goaltending future. Could they trade the Sedin's as a package? Who would give up enough and who would have the cap space to take them both on. Both making $7M for the next 4 years.
  21. Thought I'd start a thread for the trades made today. I think Anaheim overpaid for Kesler a bit here, but they need to be able to battle with LA.
