I'm not going to argue this because I have zero emotional investment it the rules of the NFL, but if you think the normal play of hockey is the same as sports where teams take turns playing offence and defence as defined by the rules of the game then you are being deliberately obtuse.
You don't like the CFL overtime format because there's no kickoffs or punts?  Fine.  They both suck for different reasons.

Football is the only sport where in overtime the potential for only one team to get a turn on offence exists.
In hockey the comparison would be only one team getting a turn on the shootout.  The other team gets a turn only if they fail.
In soccer the comparison would be only one team getting a chance to take penalty kicks.  The other team gets a turn only if they fail.
In baseball the comparison would be only one team getting a chance at bat.  The other team gets a turn only if they fail.
In all three of those sports, each of the defending teams has a chance to stop the offensive team.  And yet if they failed to do so, no sane person would argue that the structure was fair because "they could have stopped them".  So why is that argument used in football?

It's not similar at all. In the NHL both teams have an equal opportunity to win from the opening faceoff in ot.

Hockey is totally different, it's a fluid game where the action naturally goes back and forth, in that scenario a sudden death format is completely equitable because both teams have a chance to get the puck right off the opening face off, in football though one team gets the ball based on a coin flip. Sure you can say stop them and get your own chance with the ball but to have the potential of losing without ever getting  a chance with the ball is a tough way to lose. The shoot out that the CFL uses might not be perfect but I like it a hell of a lot better than sudden death OT.

You've actually disproved your point within your own post... You're right, Kyle Walters does have a specific QB budget: $X for starter, $Y for the back up and $Z for the third stringer (obviously there's some fluidity to these numbers)... they couldn't get Glenn signed for $Y so they will try to use that money on a different back-up (or split it between Davis and a new 3rd or something, I'm not a GM)... but either way it has no affect on $X budgeted for the starter...
Also, this release doesn't necessarily close the door on Kevin coming back... he may test the market and if there isn't anything else better out there he gives Kyle a call to renegotiate....

If it truly was to make room for Nichols under the cap, they would have made sure to sign Nichols first with that extra room in mind. so that they knew what space would be available for Glenn.  I agree with other posters that it was basically a good will gesture towards Glenn.  Once Nichols is signed, they will know how much room they have left for Glenn or any other QB that they may have in mind to bring in.

My thoughts exactly.  The press release says they couldn't come to an immediate agreement... meaning the Bombers need see how much $$ is left once they sign Nichols.  Once that's done, it's possible that there's still room for Glenn.  In the mean time, they've done him a courtesy and he gets to kick tires around the league to see what other options he has a month ahead of other potential free agents.

You have these great athletes and in a play where you can display it you have guys running down the field to 70% of the time pick up a football off the ground. Ill take the odd missed no yards penalty to have more excitement in the game.

There are reasons for the league to not acknowledge a link. You get the commissioner up there saying there's a link and suddenly you're opening up a world of bad legal situations for the league. People gotta stop taking every word someone says in front of a microphone as gospel.

It's not exactly central... You Winnipeggers are spoiled, even with heavy traffic it's still a pretty small city that doesn't take long to drive across. Really a lot of the complaints about the location to me ring out as more of the tried and true Winnipeg attitude of "change is bad"

I'm not sure having 25 - 30k people leaving the downs onto a single exit (the perimeter) would be any faster than exiting the U of M.  There are also very few restaurant and bars within a reasonable distance as compared to Pembina.
I think that anywhere they built the stadium there was going to be a subsection of the fans that felt alienated, have a longer drive, and they wouldn't like it. The biggest problem the Bombers are facing are that first impressions are sticking impressions, and that first year was executed so poorly that the the conception out there is that it is a bad location and hard to get to and out of.  Since that first season, I don't find it bad at all.
Tried the park and ride for the first time for the Heritage Classic and found it to be actually pretty convenient and quick.  Didn't hear any complaints or issues for the heritage classic about the location, mostly because it was an event people really wanted to go to and were excited to go to.
If the Bombers can start winning again (sustained), people will be convinced to give the location another chance and I think find that it isn't all that bad after all.  Then we will go through all of this again in 50 or 60 years when a new one gets built some place else and people will have all the same complaints because at the end of the day, people just don't like change.

Wow...it never ceases to amaze me when I pop on here and read this type of crap.
You want the guy who gave us a 1st round pick for Drew Willy?  He also let Harris go and stayed with ol' man Ray.    Barkers sheen has worn off and right now Walters is leap years ahead of him.  Milanovich is a good coach but it was evident that even he showed his weakness when he had to play an not ready for prime time QB.
So, not in a million years would I want that duo here.

No it makes perfect sense. You just aren't understanding that hard contact football, you know the way it is supposed to be played,  is now politically incorrect. We have the mamby pamby media, politicians, and alarmists running around telling us how a beautifully executed text book hit like Loffler's should be eliminated from the game. Mamby pambies.
I have little doubt that even though my opinion is correct from a football purist point of view, that many on here will strongly disagree with me and take issue with it. Why/ Not because they could give 2 figs about Arceneaux's melon....it's because the other night they sat down and watched the media proclaim it as barbarian and then flipped over to Netflix and watched that stupid Will Smith movie about it.
That my friend is a textbook definition of it not being PC.

This pretty well sums up my thoughts as well. I thought the hit was a clean, tough, football play. If Arceneaux is in possession of the ball it's not a penalty IMO. Loffler committed himself to the hit, and at full speed it's impossible to stop. He didn't hit his head, he made contact with his chest.
I feel bad that Arceneaux was injured but as other posters have said it's football, and its a rough game.....

And then if Manny catches the ball, everyone is questioning Loffler for easing up and not playing to the whistle.
To be honest, this might not be a popular opinion with some people but last I checked, football is a job that these guys willingly participate in. It's not slavery, they're not being forced to go out there and compete in a barbaric sport that puts them at risk against their own will. For that reason, while I prefer to not see a guy have his brains scrambled if all things are equal, I don't care to see these hits removed from the game. I hate that what would've made highlight reels 20 years ago is now picked apart. That's a beautiful hit and I'm going to cheer every single time Loffler lays a guy out like that, medical implications be damned.

2nd play of game....Randell picks off Jennings
Blue cash in a Harris plunge, after some hard running
Lions drive down to the Blue 14.....
...but Leggett forces Jennings to fumble...Bass recovers..
Passes to Dressler and Adams...couple of BC penalties.....
...sets up Medlock FG......Bombers out of the gate - 11-0
Andrew Harris running like he wants to finish business....
Blue D vanishes...BC marches 75 yds for TD, in short order...
Blue pull double end-around fake....hits Dressler for 60 yds...
Next play. Nichols hits Smith on wide open post pattern 27 yd TD
Bombers throwing it down the field to Smith, in this one.
The play action is giving the Lions D some trouble...
...Nichols then rolls out and hits that Smith fella for 35 yd TD
...Smith making me eat something, with my gin, at this point.
BC 6 penalties - Blue 0....not sure how long that will last.....
Moe Leggett still making plays....so is Randle.....
25-6....looks good. But Bombers can't stand prosperity.....
Wild misses tackle on Rainey (along with 3 others) for big YAC
Wild then whiffs on Johnson's TD run....just like that.....
25-15. Not getting the pressure on Jennings...we had at start....
McDuffie not getting much room on kick returns......
Nichols bombs down the sideline to JFG.....sets up Medlock FG..
The ole even up process begins...Bombers take 3 penalties
...on BD drive to help set up Jennings TD run...
Loffler called for playing through the ball - and cold cocking Manny A.
Bomber D can't close the deal on 2nd down BC conversions....
BC challenges on long pass defended by Randle...they get it....
    ...which completely flips field position....
...but Lions get called for roughing the kicker...
...and passes to Smith and Denmark get them in position for Medlock.
31-19.....a few more stops on D....and things are looking good
Ok, things are not looking good.....Lions march right down the field.....
....Jennings hits Sinkfield for TD. 31-26 Bombers....D looks worn out.
Hoping for game saving turnover.....or else.
Next series....D playing way off receivers and not getting pressure....
Jennings breaks pocket...runs it 15 yds for the TD........BC 32-31.....
After McDuffie return...Nichols trots out with 58 sec left.....
2nd down pass knocked down......3rd and 4....gamble time...
Incredibly ....Medlock come out to attempt 61 yarder in dead air dome...
    ...which falls well short......game over.
Wonder how Nichols felt, when that call was made?
But this loss is not on him or Medlock....
... or even MOS.....tempting as that might be.....
..it falls right on this defense, which blew a 25-6 lead.....
Down the stretch...simply no rush, no cover, no tackling......
Looked like a Jim Daley D out there. Terrible.
This team made some strides...but still missing some pieces....
I have made some strides....but still missing some bottles....
