Also, in the wake of Dress being out:

    @DarrinBauming
#Bombers add 6'0" 204lb Int WR Garry Brown to the practice roster. Weston Dressler will reportedly miss some games with an upper-body injury

If this is the same guy he's got some wheels on him.  Looks like he's fast,  has good hands and can return kicks

  2. I agree the get on your feet it's another blue bombers kick off is just dumb. Never got on my feet once,  never will either.

Gotta keep the first down chant. That dude with the first down jersey and  giant foam finger would be lost without it, and it's fun to watch at how excited he gets for them first downers.

with regards to the True North, I actually like it better then people changing the word free to blue that still comes off as a boo. Both are equally stupid imo but if people gotta do something that's my take.

my biggest pet peeve is my row/section never gets called to win ****. Give me a damn booster juice or giant turkey leg damn it. :774_broken_heart:

  3. I'm ok with this move. From many early reports,  Bingham had a good camp for the riders,  got a last min invite with the Ravens (I believe) then got hurt. I'm not expecting a lot or an immediate impact from him, but ABC (anyone but carmichael).  Still would have prefered someone like Grymes or Foster but at 23 or 24 and potential,  Bingham could be a gooder done the road for us

I really can't  add anything to the three stars but my HH  goes to the fans who stuck it out in monsoon type rain.

    *loud clapping*

I was a little surprised the confiscated my umbrella at the gates, like c'mon man it's raining sideways! Luckily my seats were dry and relatively void of wind - thank god cuz i stupidly came to the game in shorts and a jersey lol.

Those people in the endzones were troopers tho. Hats off to them for sticking around, especially those not in those bombers tarp rain coat things.  Bombers might want to rethink those designs though.  They are covered with small bomber logos about the size of a fist, but from a distance, you can't see them and when you put dozens together in 1 section it seriously looks like a KKK meeting

Whedon has cut Lex Luthor from the Justice League film.  Which is great news because Eisenberg sucked.

Agree with your point about Eisenberg in BvS but to remove the character is a bad move imo. I get he's not the focal antagonist for this film but he is usually a critical part of everything superman/justice league in some way. I would have just wrote him a small part where he's dealing with Doomsday or Steppenwolf to obtain some tech from Apocalypse and eventually forms the Legion of Doom or something in the aftermath of this movie.  But DC has been suckin some balls with getting their **** together so that is just wishful thinking on my part

Waterparks are fun, especially if you have kids and need to entertain them.

Waterparks don't work well outdoors in the winter.

    Winnipeg has long ass winters.

    Therefore: indoor waterpark. Quite simple!

yup indoor is the key word. When my son's football team played the Portage Terriers in PLP we make it a point to stop at the indoor water park they have there. It's not the biggest, but I think for something the size of winnipeg we could get a fun mountain/skinner's sized thing going.  I personally wouldn't be hitting it up to often but can't go wrong with more things to do in the city,  especially during winter

Thanks for the clarification. Did not know that. Here's a question arising from that, however. Runner was on 2nd. Suppose the hit goes through, batter gets safely to first, and the runner on 2nd breaks for home but is thrown out at the plate (or even worse, the batter tries to stretch to a double and is thrown out before the runner gets home). Would the out count or would the play be wiped out by the balk? I see trouble either way the decision goes based on the rule that a hit wipes out the balk:

    - if the balk wipes out any out, then the runner has nothing to lose by trying to score, and the defensive team gets penalized more than one base should the runner be safe at home

    - if the balk only applies to one base, and the runner advances past third (or the batter tries for second) at their own peril, not really fair to the baserunner who doesn't know they have an automatic base being awarded since the balk is not signaled until after the play.

-also not fair to the defending team who might rush a throw that isn't going to count if they get the putout, get an error instead, and allow the runner going to third to advance to home rather than re-setting and knowing their situation

    Strange rule, IMO.

It's been awhile since I played baseball or seen balk on TV but from my recollection it's 1 base from where you start at the beginning of the pitch - the same way a ground rule double is applied with 2 bases from where you start.

I think the only time you can gain more bases on an automatic advance is on a walk,  as jose bautista did earlier this year. I've never seen it before in my life but apparently it was allowed to stand and within the rules

Rest In Peace Bobby Heenan. He had been sick a long, long time with cancer.  I think his passing will come as a relief to his family.

Damn that's too bad. He was up there among the best heel managers in the 80's and 90's. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was a staple of the times when I was first being introduced to WWF. I mostly remember his time as manager of Mr. Perfect and a little bit with Andre The Giant but dude had a pretty long and impressive resume. RIP

It's really a dumb angle. Like a single wrestler challenges all the McMahons? Disjointed from reality as in real life they could destroy Owen's wrestling career. Why even go there? Fans know the story with the McMahons.

to set up a deeper angle of Steph being the brains behind it all in an attempt to get rid of vince and have reasonable ground to dismiss shane (such as attacking an employee). Again when she came down the ring I for sure thought there was a slap coming but she just looked at him and walked on by. Something smells in Connecticut and it ain't what the rock is cooking.

There will still be flashbacks in the second chapter.

Flashbacks of what? a rehash of the first movie? if that's the case it really doesn't offer much to the next movie. At least in the original they start off as adults and as they are informed of IT returning they have that epiphany as to what they had buried in their memories once they left Derry through flashbacks.  Since we just watched everything (at least should be everything) that transpired to them as kids it seems redundant to show us the same stuff again.

Personally if I was making another IT movie it would be a prequel to Pennywise's origins. That would be about as good as they could do given the way they remade it this time around

Saw IT tonight. Pretty cool movie. During the previews tho... Flatliners remake coming soon. That was a great movie. Hopefully the new one lives up to the original. IT certainly did. I actually didnt find IT to be very scary at all... Just creepy. Really good tho.. And at the end it says... IT Chapter 1 so i wonder if chaper 2 coming soon or if its gonna be a while.

I'm assuming chapter 2 will be the adult versions of them making good on their vow to return to Derry if IT returns. Though TBH it was the flash backs for each of them which made the original so compelling IMO. Now that they have 100% concluded that by simply making a 1 real time movie of the actual events of their childhood(s) I don't know how good the second will be if it's strictly them 27 years later. The only things I could see as appealing in that case is who they get to play the adult versions (the original had John Ritter, Harry Anderson and Annette O'Tool for example) and to see what new antics Pennywise will have for them a second go round

Interesting tidbit the original was shot in Vancouver while this remake was shot in Toronto (which explains why it went from a heavily wooded setting to a pretty barren backdrop). Must be pretty cheap to film in Canada vs the US. IT reportedly only cost them $35m to make and as of the 13th had grossed $151m in the US alone

I don't see Lapolice wanting to go there now.  Did you see Moe Khan's tweet?  He just pointed out how the average lifespan of MTL coaches since Trestman left has been 22 games or something like that.  That is really bad.  I thought we were bad about firing coaches when Bauer was here, this franchise has now become the most unhinged unstable place to work in CFL history.  If I'm a prospective HC, no way I'm going to accept any offers from Montreal.

it really depends on circumstances IMO. Offer enough money and you can get a lot of people lining up even if there is a risk of it being short term.  OR maybe for someone like Lapo this is the opportunity needed to get another crack at being a HC.  Montreal is either going to get coordinators calling to get a shot or they will be getting retreads looking for redemption. Either that or they promote from within (AC maybe)

Big angle on SD tonight ...

That was probably one of the better episodes of either of Raw/SD i've watched in a long long time.  Had an attitude era feel to it,  the New Day vs Uso's match was great - lots of stiff looking spots and the Owens/Vince at the end to close the show was great.  I'm thinking Steph had a part in it. She didn't even smack Owens when walking past him on the ramp

All of these games are dangerous.

We needed last-minute heroics + a kick return braincramp + OT to beat Ottawa.

The Edmonton team we beat was depleted, tired, and crisco-handed.

We let Hamilton hang around for three quarters before burying them in the 4th.

A couple bounces go differently and all these games come out different.  Maybe not the Hamilton one, but the other two, definitely.

(in case it sounds like I'm not giving the Bombers credit for their wins, I do  -- but for all but one quarter, these were three competitive games)

I might be mis-remembering that game but it didn't go to OT we were down 7, kicked a FG, got a single on a kick off,  FG to tie then our D stopped the RBs and Medlock kicked the game winning FG on the last play in regulation

  15. So I finally saw a commercial for this earlier today, it wasn't this exact commercial but I remember someone mentioning this in the past.

I gotta say it has the feel of a malcolm in the middle meets everyone hates chris vibe to it,  neither of which I was a big fan of. But I do like TBBT so I'll probably give it a try on the 25th.  After 10 years tho of seeing Jim Parsons and Laurie Metcalf doing all the idioms of their respective characters, I have a feeling  it will be hard to watch other actors/actresses doing mimicry

I'm cynical enough to believe that it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that Jones & Co. would deliberately exceed the cap in order to remain competitive. That would be consistent with Jones demonstrated attitude in the past.

with what he paid in fines last year,  and so far has kept his nose relatively clean this year,  it will just be viewed as a write off. TBH I don't see why more teams don't do it (while staying below the 100K over mark). The consequence is pretty minimal and if it's the difference between snagging a a big name NFL cut or FA in the offseason, why not.  when your pulling in millions a year in revenue it's a drop in the bucket
