I thought all 4 teams today have looked like dogshit that even we could probably beat....

Nah - I agree about Ottawa, Edmonton and now the Argos - but don't think we will be able to beat the Riders in Regina next week. They are taking care of business in Toronto - something we failed to do.

  2. That is a good question. As for me I moved out to Calgary about 18 years ago. When I lived in the Peg (moved there from Dallas in 1981) I was true blue fan. Season tickets and all - lived and died each game. When I moved to Calgary for a number of years I maintained my season tickets in the Peg even though I also have season tickets for the Stamps. Then over the say, last 5 years or so I have become more or less emotionally detached. I don't watch all the games - I tape them and then decide if I want to watch them afterwards. I use to yell and scream at the TV (drove my better half nuts!). Now I watch the game with more or less a detached overview. If they win I am happy - if they lose; well life does go on. I think I have changed into more of a CFL football supporter than a Bomber supporter. In an hour or so I will be watching the Edmonton-Ottawa game and then the Rider-Argo game mixed in with some NCAA football.

So bottom line I have moved from a live or die with the Bombers to more of  casual fan.

After watching last night's game, I am really more concerned than ever about Lapo, Hall and MOS. I don't think it will matter what QB is put in, Streveler with his ability to run and throw medium to short passes, McGuire with his ability to throw in the pocket or whomever, I don't think any will be successful. Even Nichols as successful as many here think he was within the system will never be successful because of the restraints that are put on because of the system LaPo implements. Yes our offense leads the league in many categories but that does not translate into wins, in fact it translates into losses with his don't lose philosophy late in games. On the defensive side as has been mentioned before, the bend don't break philosophy is proving to be problematic in many ways and again while it may sustain the team for most of the game it fails when needed most. And then there is MOS, the what second most tenured coach in Blue Bomber history and is barely above if above the 500 mark in wins and losses. He perchance for loyalty beyond the pale is disturbing and counter procuctive. The lack of preparation (referring to grooming QBs) is not unlike what we have seen before in Bomber town but why continue down a non productive path? And personal selection is yet another which I put on all of the above along with Walters. It has become painfully obvious, especially against eastern teams, that our secondary is absolutely terrible. Our safety is very vocal but cannot play to the level of his talk. Our defenders are great chasing the receiver but never look for the ball and are constantly beaten. They play back far too much from the line....is this because they are afraid the receiver will beat them.....well they do and with regularity. I find it difficult to rationalize that this is entirely the player but rather the paly design.. If for example a player is playing too far from the line why isn't someone telling them to move up or coaching on the sidlines. Why are adjustments not made at half time? That to me is coaching 101. And has anyone mentioned the drop off of play our start middle linebacker? He seems to be running all over the place while leaving the middle of the field wide open hence in the past two games huge completions in front of our great safety with Bighill nowhere in sight!

There are problems in Bomberville whether we want to believe it or not and it is not all on Streveler or the players. Yes they did not execute well but boy our play calling and coaching is not good and will never get us to the Grey Cup. I believe that to be a reality even though I hope I am wrong

just to be clear - you are not wrong. lots of issues in Bomber land. They have always been there just masked with a few easy wins against bad teams. Now we are one of the bad teams heading no where in the fast lane.

I disagree very much with this entire assessment. Saskatchewan is not better on both sides of the ball. Our lines are far superior to theirs and that was evident in both games against them. That's where Hamilton and Calgary I don't argue. They can match the Bombers in the trenches and it allowed Hamilton to win, but Sask? Not a ******* chance. We are a superior team to them no question about it.

I guess we shall see next week. I think our OL is better but our DL and theirs are pretty close to each other. They do have a better receiving corps and a far better secondary. And to add to that they do not have Richie Hall - that by itself is worth at least 2TD's for them. I think it will be a close game but in the end the Richie Hall defense will yet again crap the bed!

This club is headed straight for the ditch.....Uninspired play (exception Lawler Harris and Streve) has taken hold....Even spread to Meds. who missed a chip shot...I'm going to say it now ...if we exit the playoffs early it will be time to clean house...We should be way beyond a third place finish and if that's the case the knives will be out...Time to break from this mess and hope the club can rebound BUT after last nights dismal performance I find that highly unlikely...Brutal that this club could be eclipsed by the riders heading for the Cup...This franchise should be embarrassed

I don't think you can embarrass this franchise! Wade Miller and Kyle Walters are beyond being embarrassed. As long as 25K or so pay for tickets each and every home game they will just keep trucking along. New HC here and there, new OC and DC here and there. Few good players here and there - No Grey Cups since I can not remember when. They just keep trucking along same same.

The hell has Saskatchewan done to earn that? Barely squeaked past us on labour day and got the ever loving **** kicked out of them the banjo bowl?

Saskatchewan has a better QB and a far better DC - even if they had a Door Knob as DC. They will kick Toronto butt today - where we lost and we go into their barn soon and will probably keep the score close until Richie Hall fails yet again. Hence my thinking the Riders are a better team than the Bombers.

As for me today is a great day 3 CFL games on, lots of NCAA football and tomorrow I get to watch the Bears-Vikings game along with the Browns and Pats play. Great weekend for football here in Calgary. I also just purchased two tickets for the Grey Cup! Not sure who will be there but thinking Calgary vs. Hamilton.

But the defence played much better in the 2nd half. With a hint of offence in the 2nd half we may have been able to pull this one out.

But streveler and the rest of the offence (Lapo) included shat the bed.

    Thats why we lost.

The Hamilton team played more conservative in the second half - They full well knew that playing against a Richie Hall defense they could crank it up again any time they wanted to. Hamilton is just a far far better team on both sides of the ball than Winnipeg, as is Calgary and Sask as far as I am concerned. You will never ever win anything of importance as long as you have Richie Hall as your DC. There is no way in the world we could have pulled this one out. I doubt we will win many more. Make the playoffs and one and done is what is in store for this club. Maybe they will fall into the cross over and then get pounded out east.

If opponents thought like that they wouldn't have knocked Nichols out for the season

I agree - I think the game will be a hard played game and Lawrence will be there but I think the refs will be keeping a very close eye on him and the first time anything of major consequence happens he will be gone. What the Bombers have to watch out for is taking shots at him and getting penalties of their own. This game IMHO will be very close and may depend on a Medlock FG to win it - and given his season so far would be nice to see him win one for us. Also would be nice to see a Richie Hall Defense not give up the ghost in the second half.

anyone concerned about Strev's apparent gimpy wheel that he had in the second half of the Als game? His inability to run severely hampered the offense, I felt.....curious what his run game is gonna look like this week.

Good post. I had not heard much all week regarding Strev's condition. I do think he was on the gimp during the second half last week and if his running ability is degraded then we may be in a jam against the Cats.

This could be the game where MOS develops that killer instinct and does not take his foot off the pedal :D

Yeah! Ah Nope ! Doubt MOS will change all that much. I do believe that if we have a good lead going into the 4th and Richie Hall screws the pooch yet again! MOS will not be happy!

Interesting...you said that the O and D were ghosts in the 2nd...very true and if a Hall D won’t win a Cup....what is left to be say of the prospects on LaPo’s O winning one?

in my opinion - None! Nada! LaPo is already penciled in as a HC somewhere. I think they will get into the playoffs - do their normal one and done and then disburse to parts unknown.

If you are going to Vietnam I highly recommend Phu Quoc island.

Got to say I took an in country R&R at China Beach (in Danang) and the beach was something I will remember always. Was nicer that the beach in Sidney when I did an out of country R&R after my first tour.

In reality... Players just ****** up hence the long completitions. Your agenda is showing again. In more reality we got ****** by the refs not ejecting Adams for trying to legit injury Bighill. If you and a few other agenda pushing folks stopped the BS you push after every loss and actually watched the final 2 scores... DBs ****** up.. Refs ****** up by not ejecting Adams... Bombers ****** up sure.. But.. The fact Adams swung Bighills helmet he just ripped off at Bighills head with the ref watching and wasn't ejected... That is the real story. A QB tried to legit knock out a guy with a helmet. Whatever tho right... It would be a different story if he connected hard enough tho Wouldnt it be. Do the Als win if Adams is ejected like he should have been.

Craig Roh last year got penalized for doing a fake sword celebration.  Adams tried to take Bighills head off with the helmet he just ripped off his head.. 15 yards? Fishy BS.

Player safety my ass. Where's the fake eye in the sky on this one.

Sorry dude - trying to blame this on on the ref's failure to call what Adams did is just sour grapes IMHO. The Bombers offense and defense just plain gave up the ghost in the second half. I believe the office scored 3 points in the second half and we all know what to expect from a Richie Hall Defense - Nothing more to say - A Richie Hall defense will never ever win you a Grey Cup!

Thank god, I'm going back to Southeast Asia soon......which will help me put this into perspective

OK have to ask! Why are you going to SE Asia soon? I had a fun time there (Vietnam and Cambodia- yes we were actually in Cambodia) from 1969-1971 supporting Uncle Sam's Green Machine! And that was a very very sarcastic comment from my side. Was there humping the jungle for 2 tours and part of a 3rd.

    Enjoy!

well, it's been nice knowing you........but.........time for you to leave this forum, I'm afraid.

Mr. Noeller Sir - I have been on this forum since day one. I really can not post all that often as work tends to get in the way. Today is a travel day and I am in my hotel (not in Regina or Saskatoon) but Toronto which is even harder to like. So not going anywhere soon. But thanks for the warm fuzzies!

    This is spot on.

Having lived here long enough, I've learned how they work. Saskatoon seems to be partly exempt, but the massive insecurity the rest of this province has manifests in a pretty classic way. They're insecure because their weakness is apparent. They're saddled massively with inbred stupidity, where schooling or intelligence is considered a weakness. They have literally nothing going here other than a CFL team, a WHL team and a disgusting shallow lake filled with various types of feces (mostly avian and human). Everything else in this province is done on the small and is pretty much a backwoods parody of what real cities have. They know they're low tier so they're loud. about. everything. ALWAYS. There's this general hatred of Winnipeg but nobody has traveled there. They rarely travel anywhere. They're loud and proud about... well...not really much, but they're too dumb to know it.

Having lived amongst them for so long, I guess you could say I'm like their version of Jane Goodall, except these gorillas are less civilized and aren't nearly as intelligent....and they'll fling their poo anywhere.

NAH! Saskatchewan is not that bad. I have a number of clients in both Saskatoon and Regina. If I had my choice I would rather go to Saskatoon but am in Regina often on business. Great people in both cities.

Needed a stop when we had them deep and the old familiar D reared it's ugly head and let them march at will...That was the game right there...On the positive....Jefferson was a madman out there and you can;t lay anything about the loss on his doorstep....Streveler gave it a 110 percent...as much as he was capable of..............Has to play a better passing game  though when we get those yokels here and put the boots to them........Was it my imagination or did Darvin Adams catch an early bus back home during that one....... cuz he sure as hell disappeared

IMHO as long as you have Richie Hall as your DC you will not be able to go very far. Maybe a playoff game but it will be a one and out yet again. When you need the defense to make that big stop to win a game Richie Hall is no where to be found.

  18. 1 minute ago, pigseye said:

That was a 'big boy' game, two really good defences. We should have won but it's LDC and we rarely do. The two missed scoring opportunities are what cost us and both are on Streveler just being inexperienced. We get them two more times here so I'm not too worried.

I think the other game is at Regina unless I misread the schedule.
