Thing with Bridge...sure not a guy who's gonna go through all his progressions..but he can stretch a defense...and like Streveler can run a defense ragged...so if Strev got hurt we could still employ the same offensive scheme...

I truly think Willy is beyond fixing in his head..

Willy is a big no way jose for sure.  Bridge is bad, oh boy, he is bad.  He makes every play like he wants it to be the highlight of the night on sports center. BUT, at least Bridge can run around.  Its sad that there is a lack of qb's around. Where is Alex Ross these days

I know that it comes with the turf and that Nichols is a known commodity, but what a shitty set of circumstances for Matt and family if his injury is long term. In his heart of hearts, how much success does Nichols want Streveler to have if it means being replaced by him in the off-season without you having a chance to battle for your job through the playoffs?

I wouldn't know because I haven't been in the situation, but this is reality for every player in professional sports. Matt knows what he signed up for

Yeah we are. We haven't needed much passing to win games this year. So I like our chances. Streveler may or may not be the long term answer but we will see that too.

Its a contract year for him, you are 7-2. Couldn't be a better time to try him out than now. Its his third year with the team, no reason why he can't play a couple games by now. Good players are ready by now to take a step. Its time to find out. Have to give him a few games though, he will have his successes and his struggles like any rookie would. As much as I have my opinions on Matty Ice, he is a veteran qb and he offers the option to throw when needed and he can read defenses. Very unrealistic to think teams will respect Streveller in the same way, equally unrealistic to expect things to continue on the same way they have. They may be worse, they even be better, but one thing is for sure, they won't be the same.

Chappy ought to be nervous. I always like to see familiar players entering the coaching ranks, I wish Crompton the best in trying to turn that clunker of a ship around.

This may sound odd, but I liked Straight outta Crompton when he played. He lacked physical gifts it seemed but he was smart and got the most out of what he had. I have a feeling he will do well in this job

interesting to see Khari Jones anti Lapo/OShea approach to quarterbacking

Khari showed a lot of confidence in his qb, let the qb make tough throws, took some chances, and the qb responded producing late game and overtime touchdowns for wins.

The Bombers approach is the opposite of that. Might not be the best thing for a quarterback's confidence. Terrified to make a mistake.

There is a difference between coaching to win and coaching not to lose

I really don't understand how a Rider fan can even think about getting into a **** waving contest over Canadian depth with Bomber fans. The difference between the two teams Canadians is just laughable. Not only do we have superior top end Canadian players but the depth is not even a ******* contest.

You are a huge Homer. Might be a news flash for you but the Bombers don't dominate every position and player and statistical category in the league

Hell we don't even need to replace Harris with a Canadian if we feel an American is better at rb. Can use a Canadian on defensive line, between Thomas and kongo there are options. Could use another Canadian receiver to. That's how the bombers are different than a team like the riders. Our Canadian depth is good and all over the roster.

Hecht is a starter on your team and you are laughing at our depth???

We have another Canuck, Johnny Augustine who looks to be quicker and more elusive than Harris but probably not as powerful or experienced but his hands are unknown. I think we're ok there but its hard to replace an all-star. We also have Brady Oliviera on the IR and gone for the year but he looked very good in his brief stint.

People are the starter for a reason, there isn't a backup rb in the league that could replace half of what Harris does, in fact most of the starters in the league couldn't replace him either. You are crazy if you think the loss of Harris wouldn't be huge and devastating to your team.  He is size and speed, if you don't get ready and respect his power he will run you over. If you get too low and try to take his legs out he will dance around you. If he hits open field he is gone and you can't catch him. Also most rb's don't have good hands, who is going to catch all the passes he gets or replace his blocking skills. For a starting running back right now in the cfl, at all facets of the game, there is no one better.

and not to mention that neither of those you mentioned, Gable or Powell, have been able to play a complete season since coming to the league... Gable is averaging a little over 10 games a season since 2013 and Powell a little over 11 games a season since 2015... there is no reason to think that they won't suffer the same fate this year based upon history alone... I know you can't predict injuries but I can only anticipate future actions based upon past actions... theirs's tell me that there is an injury in both of their futures...

Neither Saskatchewan or Edmonton would be completely devastated if either of them got hurt too.  They would be missed but the entire offense doesn't revolve around them.

The problem is we rely too much on Harris at the expense of other talented players. I remember back in the 80's when Willard Reaves was running for anywhere from 1500 to 1800 yards a season we still had our passing game with Joe Pop, Murphy, Boyd & Tuttle having thousand yard seasons & we never missed a beat. We could score from anywhere on the field. But this offense? I don't get why it's either or with LaPo. We centre around the run game & it takes away from the passing game.  We should be able to do both but we don't.

The problem isn't that you run the ball a lot to Harris, he is a great running back any team would love to have. I think the problem is he is only one you throw to and that's the issue

PS..we have a parade to plan we don't have time to worry about the refs.... we are simply gonna beat anyone who gets in our way this year.

I would actually be super happy for the friends of mine who are long time Bomber fans. They have stood by the team for many years and deserve a good old fashioned we won the cup drunk that lasts a couple days. Obviously I would rather we won it ourselves but don't assume other teams wouldn't be happy for the Bombers to win it. And my comments you keep referring to are about a certain qb that won't be named, whom I am not much of a fan of. So feel free to sign up at Riderfans and debate about it there, because I will not do it here

Sure... there will definitely be some cases where coaches may burn a challenge to calm things down. You can almost always find a holding or illegal block on most kick return plays... personally, I think it'd be best if they did it for a specific player, similar to how pass interference is called.

I just find it interesting that even the rule book itself is stacked against coverage teams like that, puts them at a big disadvantage when there is a missed call.

I agree with you on this. The worst one though is when its the first guy down field, how does a ref miss that??  If its way across the field and not relevant then don't call it.  The returns do add to the excitement of the game and how many times have all of us stood up and not cheered on a return td because we were looking to see if there was a flag on the field. That on last night...  Wow
