I agree that the defacto number 2 position is unlikely to end up being Elgersma if he does sign. However, whether or not he signs does decide how we approach our QB room in general. Being a NAT, how the Bombers QB development behind Collaros is significantly different between the two scenarios of him signing or not signing. The Bombers future plans will be to give Elgersma a boat load of development runway.

Why are we assuming the QB2 spot is being held for Elgersma? Sure he could compete for it but how often do USports QBs show up and immediately got slotted into backup QB? Bombers will have Bryce Perkins who won the UFL MVP last year and Payton Throne who had a reasonable NCAA career and was an NFL camp cut last year and then obviously Terry Wilson as the guy with actual CFL experience.. who by the way has played about as much as Powell has the last two seasons. Realistically if Elgersma were to show up it would be Perkins or Wilson as QB2 and Elgersma as 3... If he did end up QB2 that would mean he was more or less worth the wait

He went offside like 4 times in a preseason game because he couldn't time his waggle at all. He was cut. You don't have a big window as a rookie. This isn't coaching failure at all. His inability to take a running start cost him a CFL career. Edmonton tried him to give him more time to adjust and they also gave up. This is just one of those things where you get a really talented guy but if he can't wrap his head around the differences in our game then you move on from him, Not a coaching failure in any way. If he had lit up the preseason and outperformed anyone, then your point is valid, but he didn't.

Unless you’re getting a top 3 pick and even then it’s debatable but none of these guys except maybe McKenna and that’s a maybe is on the team next season. Jets dealt with injuries and poor signings. Their goalie was out for a month and we had an 11 game losing streak and are 3 points out. We aren’t a bad team. We had a bad few months bu jets since the break are one of the best teams in the league. Since they traded Stanley Schenn and they Pearson they are noticeably quicker and faster and playing at a much higher pace. They just dominated Colorado for 8 of 9 periods. They aren’t that bad. Why aren’t they a cup contender if they get in? With Hellebuyck they certainly are cuz that’s all it takes. Is Colorado a contender? We just dominated them the last 8 of 9 periods we played them.
