  1. Past hour
  2. I agree. It seems like a shady way of changing the rules so that the league can open up future opportunity to more align with the NFL ruleset - possibilities including farm system for the NFL, a partnership (and thus fully integrating into the NFL ruleset), or even worse - selling out the league to the NFL - where they could eventually move our teams out of our cities. Yes, I am thinking the worst... but nothing else makes sense.
  3. Hardly any go for a TD but the returner has to make a decision based on possible field position gained by not giving up the single. Goal post at the back of the end zone means a missed FG has to be short in order to be returned at all. It virtually eliminates the chance of a rouge by going wide. Many a game was won or lost by that rouge on a missed FG.
  4. Without the uprights, Jade Etienne wouldn't have had any Bomber touchdowns! I was thinking of the Jade Etienne game when I heard the announcement. A fond memory in an otherwise unremarkable career with the Bombers.
  5. I think that’s why you do go to the pa though. It’s divisive changes that you need to consult over. a change like, each team has their own side line, doesn’t need discussion it goes with out saying. The game has 3 stake holders. the players, the fans, and the league. one side making sweeping large scale changes with out consulting the two is how you kill your market. Even if it’s what I suspect in the worst case, that we are a couple years away from being a 4/5 team league with no tv deal, being open with the risks would garner understanding and positivity. As it is, half the player base is pissed, and a huge portion of the fan base country wide is pissed. I think they could’ve gotten people on board for more of the changes with a more transparent, inclusive approach.
  6. Today
  7. Excellent!!! Maybe the CFL can bring back these formations - heck when the weather gets bad (say playoff times) a Wing-T or Single Wing formation might be something to think about.
  8. CFL already has two rules that help in the red zone... major penalties are no longer applied at half the distance and that a big one, and 1 yard off the LOS for defenses is huge... RZ production is up 4.4 points over last year so far this year.
  9. I saw some guy on twitter that said moving the goal posts will open up 1 3rd of the endzone lol.
  10. There is lots of weird math that is going on The league is suggesting that the presence of the goal posts along the goal line is somehow surpressing scoring, but teams are 221/360 for red zone opportunities (61.4%) this year. I can't find the NFL as a league average, but in 2024 that rate would put the CFL at number 10, behind the Panthers at 62% and above the Packers at 59%... and none of those teams have to deal with goal posts.
  11. Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, my friends. Forty per cent of all people know that.
  12. It is all made up math so it doesn't really matter, but we don't know specifically what they included or excluded.
  13. As insignificant as a throwaway skit in a cartoon might seem, the closer we get to the American game, the less reason anyone has to pay any attention to us at all.
  14. That was kinda my point originally, as much as their analytics are saying that the changes will add 60 TD per season, that's less than a TD per game (5.185 points per game), but they didn't take into account the number of field goals that won't be scored, so overall scoring will go down. Even more if you take out missed field goal touchdowns as you suggest. I think they are using the increase in TDs as a way to try and justify the changes they wanted to make anyway, but they didn't actually do the math. Sure, 60 TDs sounds impressive, but when you break it down per game, the argument falls apart.
  15. Given what we've seen with Zac, we need to do everything we can to protect him. If Vanderpool could help do it, even if it means not adding woods, or OShea forbid Ayers. How effective Zac will be given that likely he wiil be dumping off the ball at first sign of trouble or relying on a quick passing game ( not his strength) is a question, but cant be worse than the alternative
  16. Starting the play clock immediately after the play will burn more game clock. The end of the games won't be as exciting. Only one time out after the three minute warning. Not sure how this will increase scoring?
  17. I swear they keep going into Rescue Heroes territory (IYKYK) https://tvline.com/lists/911-season-9-release-date-cast-trailer-abc/
  18. So fun Collaros stat Bombers have had 6 home games. Collaros has missed 2 (Suspension Week 2 vs BC, Injured Week 9 vs Toronto), been knocked out of 2 (Week 7 vs Calgary, Week 14 vs the Riders) and started and finished the game twice (Week 4 vs Edmonton, Week 11 vs Ottawa). Based on this, I expect Collaros to play this game, get injured again vs Saskatchewan, and then miss the Season Finale vs Montreal.
  19. Then minus a few for the missed field goal touchdowns we will lose
  20. My mistake, that should have been 81 games... 9 teams, 18 games each, divided by 2 because each game is played by 2 teams. So 60 TDs over 81 games is only 0.74 TDs per game, so it's even worse than I thought.
