Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Montreal Alouettes GDT
Stickem replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Much improved BUT still have a long way to go to reach the winning pinnacle the fans are used to.....Still not enough pressure on the oppositon qb....Should have had that green as grass Morgan totally on the ropes early, instead of putting up numbers on us early....Our receiving corps is definitely crippled now, especially after losing Demski....I hope he's back soon ...we'll need him for the Labour Day and Banjo for sure... -
Exactly right. People are criticizing MOS for doing what every football coach in the history of football does week in and week out. In order to replace veterans you have to have the players that will perform better than the veteran. Change for the sake of change is stupid.

Very few are as good as a healthy Dalton Schoen - most #1s are not of his calibre. -

That's a pretty broad statement. Let's hear some facts to back it up. Compare roster usage around the league and you will quickly see how wrong you are. The only difference between OSH and the rest is his refusal to use the naturalized IMP. That is a big flaw for sure, Your assessment of Ayers is out to lunch. He was excellent in camp last year and was not kept solely for STs. We don`t dress extra DEs because they are ALL rostered already with the exception of Munier-Bailey. Some guys can transition to pros in a heart beat, some take longer. Not sure why any of us try to create artificial hard timelines on player development. Every player is different. Like it or not, the coaching staff knows a 1000x better than any fan whether or not a guy is ready for the friday night lights. There is more to it than just physical. You have to learn how to be a pro mentally as well. If that were true Biggie would be a Bomber, not a Stamp.

Think that was on Hogan. Could see O'Shea yelling into headset that they needed to be on the ball. -

With experience and some semblance of success and was in a camp this yr?.....all I can think of is White Jr really.....Hollins was there for the taking.....Mayala and Hakannuva or whatever his name is...tho those guys be what you want for depth (better tha Corcoran anyway) but we missed boat on them as we stood pat thinking we were good They could have also seen how we roster guys here and declined too....there is that aspect and it wasnt like we were looking like a team on the rise - Today

1. BO . Brady had his "**** this. I 'm carrying this team on my back" mentality 2. Zach - played well. Protected the ball. 3. Special teams - Sergio, Punter Guy, Vaval, Logan -- no gaffes , solid returns, and converted on all FG's / converts HH - Demski. Guy is having a great year. Hopefully he's g2g against the Gappers. Turd of the game - the friggen sirens and noise makers in the stadium.

yEAH He was running more like last 2 yrs brady....must feel confident in his head he's back to near 100 percent....so ran like it again...was no self preservation there last night....and we gonna need it in the back half if we don't improve this receiving group. Can't see why they dont ask White back if he willing...definately help and there not a lot of options out there who you can just drop right in and trust Wilson I expect to see cut in the upcoming cut downs....hopefully he doesnt feel the need to waste a yr hoping for a spot on a PR and not get paid doing so...makes more sense to come back...get a nice pro-rated deal and gets some more film on himself.....could get another crack next yr....tho I think this was his one shot

Subjectively they are a pile of ass. Ehhh, that is actually objectively too. -
He might finally be feeling right after getting a bit nicked up early in the season.
-
That TD was a beauty. Didn't try to find a hole after he broke the tackle. Just plowed forward through the defenders.
-
What i loved the most about Bradys game last night was the power he was running with. His TD run he got hit, shrugged it off and put his head down and exploded to the endzone. No one was going to stop him there even if they hit him. Dude has unreal strength. He was hitting guys all night when they tried to tackle him. Only way he went down is when dudes just held onto his legs.
-
Brady had 73 yards receiving last night with 72 of YAC. Made a couple of really nice one handed grabs on some dump offs as well.
-
reminds me a bit of the Nichols-Harris offense (and I don't mean that as an insult)... now if we could get the deep shot back into the game... we could be cooking again

This is kind of my take away... Mtl's offense was a shell of it's normal self... and we gave up 13 points... not great against a 4th string QB... but not terrible Our O vs their D was basically health vs health (minus Dequoy and Schoen)... and then we were down to 3 viable receivers by the second half... we managed to put up 26 points and get the W To me, this game is a far bigger positive than needing 2 ST TDs to beat a bad Toronto team, at home, a few weeks ago... -
Brady being a safety valve for Zach was huge. Half of those receptions were of the check-down variety but were very successful.
-
And he's playing hurt with his shoulder wrapped. Dude is a manimal....

I’d like to see what he could do in the slot, we’ve seen he can deal with the tough stuff in the middle. I don’t think it would be the worst idea to switch Wheatfall and Mitchell for a game. -
So Brady is at 900 Yards from Scrimmage which as of today puts him 2nd in the league behind only James Butler who has 1030. Brady has only played 8 games to Butlers 10 (well really 7 games and 1 drive for Brady). With 8 games left, Brady needs to average about 138 yards/game to make it to 2000... he's gone over 100 yards from scrimmage in 5 out of the 7 complete games he's played

Not only did we pick the worst of the bunch of wrs available, and give up the best wr on the market, we actually made the guys we took in worse. I like Sterns, he's a gutsy little guy with tons of effort. Doesn't have the talent or athleticism of Dressler, but he's a good guy to have as the last imp in your starting rotation of wrs. The problem is, every one is the complementary guy, and they all seem to be waiting for some one else to be Kenny lawler. Demski has stepped his game up a good level this year, but he's taken a hell of a battering here and is now banged up. And our offence isn't designed around demskis tool set. We aren't set up for catch and run down field stuff. -

even going back to last year with wheatfall, he was boom or bust. As a step forward year 2 guy, it's not likely he takes another big step forward. Not impossible, but far from likely. He's a valuable guy, but he's the guy you need a specific set of assets around him to help him perform. He needs a no1 guy to pull the D, and some one of the unit who stretches deep so he only faces loose 1on1 cover. -

I agree. He seems to know where to go but he's a tad slow getting there and his tackling technique has regressed. The result of too many injuries and age, I guess. While visiting family, I've been to two Bomber games in Calgary over the last two seasons. I've taken my grandkids (8 and 5) to the games early and both times, Castillo has come over to chat with them and sign autographs.
