think the CFL could benefit from a third preseason game? Doesn't seem like two games is enough to vet the newcomers and re-vet the veterans while allowing the undisputed starters to grind the rust off. (though I bet the question isn't "can they benefit from it" I think the question is more "can they afford it?" I can't see pre-season games being big money generators.)

Too much Alberta Redneck crap always going on here. That kind of stuff needs to end now. I have nothing to do with the name of the CFL team in Edmonton & whatever name they pick so why should I be compared to racists in Alabama if they go back to Eskimos? I had nothing to do with it. To label an entire province as racist & bigots over the name of a football team is wrong. Yet, slagging Albertans constantly goes on here. It's not even remotely funny. Not everyone who live in Alberta are rednecks or racists. We are all Canadians first here. I was born, raised & educated in Manitoba. It's special to go home as I still have family in Winnipeg, Ashern & Moosehorn. However, I love Alberta & I'll never apologize for that. Been here 35 years. It's one thing to mock other CFL teams other than the Bombers. Especially the Riders. It's another thing to attack where people live, work & have families. I’m not too stressed on the vets staying home. They know exactly what they bring to the table. More time for the rookies to show they can play. Pretty much every team leaves some vets home for the road preseason game.

I think Novak probably ends up on the PR. Maybe Smith too.

Is there enough room for Shay+Smith+Novak or does one (Novak) end up on the PR? Vaval has apparently impressed according to media reports about camp and can return, does he end up as a DI who is the extra DB and the returner?

Our QBs are set. Streveler is taking the lions share of the reps because he will be starting first game. Collaros takes reps because he isn't playing for weeks after. Wouldn't be surprised if Arto and Wilson get very limited reps or none at all. Like others have said, for some guys we know exactly what they bring and are being left home. Especially the guys on D. They don't need to get into a rhythm. Everyone else is getting more of a chance to put things on film

Given our previous camps it isn’t ridiculous at all. We’ve cut guys the day after a ps game who didn’t play, who played extremely well, we’ve failed to play guys enough to get the rust off etc

I'm excited to see Shay, Novak and Smith all on the field at once.

Camps have a second game for a reason and it is ridiculous for people to assume that anything is set in stone other than our star level players. Some vets are at home because we know what they bring to the table already, and some to shield them from injury, but players play themselves onto and off of the team all the time in game action (including this one) in preseason on every team every year.

This is how I view it as well. Absolutely nothing set in stone.

I’m going to take it as a positive and say there’s going to be a lot of tough decisions to make, and they want to get the young players an extended look.

Seems kind of strange to burry the second game with back ups, when the first game of the season is in week 2. I am glad a bunch of guys are gonna get some good reps, but if the majority of decisions are made, whats the point?

I don't understand not grooming him more to be a RB, seems like we are lowering his ceiling. I really don't understand out moves at Lber. If Kyrie and Tjones were gonna be handed the starting jobs, why bring in Jjones? Give jones a signing bonus and bring him in to maybe DI and cut ayers? I don't think vaughters has out right won the position by play, but I also don't think any one has clearly out played him for it. The closest thing imo would be adams to DE with woods/pointer at dt to bump vaughters. But hes a better player than Kyrie at this point pretty easily.

Barkov in my opinion is a generational guy. He’s the Finnish Russian version of Patrice Bergeron. Also they have Ekblad who was one of very few to be given exceptional status by the ohl. Weather. I’m not sure there. I thought person and Webb was it looked like younger versions of him really. So me? I’d prob keep the young guys who look impressive over a potentially washed paid well vet. I’m not sure tho. Vaughters could be what Willie J needs. I thought he looked good also and he hustled on the obvious non fumble regardless. So I could see him being a decent addition. Perhaps reputation alone helps free up Willie more. I’ll put Vaughters in the d Mitch maybe he’s cut group but if I had to say the surprise cut… d Mitchell for sure. Easily. Cuz Vaughters caught Oshs attention on the hustle and d Mitch has on the well, slow learning perhaps.
