  1. Past hour
  2. Isn't he injured? My LotW: Stanback
  3. Yep, rolling through the season, and finishing it off with a stretch of meaningless games hasn’t worked for them the last 2 years. Rather see them get on a roll towards the end of the season and pick up in the playoffs like 2019.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at our training camp cuts and depth chart, I don't think one vet lost a spot to another player. Not one cut and not one demoted to a backup role. That seems problematic to me. Not one person that jumped off the chart to gain a spot or a vet that declined to lose a spot (other than those not re-signed)? Not even something somewhat surprising like Eli jumping ahead of Kolankowski or Lofton losing the starting RT spot he was basically assigned when he joined our team? Augustine losing his spot to Rosery? Perhaps that will change as the season rolls along, but I don't take it as a good sign that we could have penciled in the depth chart other than which rookies grabbed the spots not contested by vets.
  5. The practice roster is what makes me more frustrated than anything, to be honest. The use of it is just horrendous. Historically, here have been the past couple years looking at our American PR August 2022: OL Witt, OL Lofton, K Mourtada, DL Wilcots, WR Harrison, DL Mack, DB Holm October 2022 (post expanded PR): OL Witt, OL Lofton, OL Fornadel, OL Muljo, K Mourtada, WR Harrison, WR Heiligh, DL Adams, DL Massie, DB Texada July 2023: OL Ivy, OL Richmond, DB Muhammad, DB McGhee, DL Fox, LB Cole, WR Jones, FB Jackson October 2023: OL Richmond, DL Haba, DL Garbutt, DL Fox, WR Alston, DB Lawrence, DB McGhee We’ve been carrying a ton of OL on the practice roster since 2022 and it’s netted us absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, we’ve carried literally one linebacker, zero running backs, no receivers who have amounted to anything (mostly due to not ever getting an opportunity), a kicker that was absolute trash, a fullback and usually a DB or two. Obviously these are just snapshots, but the formula isn’t working. Look at the turnover and look what it’s amounted to. This is not how we should be using this part of our roster at all.
  6. That was 18 wasn’t it? 19 was a 5-0 start. IIRC they’ve lost 3 openers under O’Shea including this year, a home loss to Montreal in one of Willys last starts, a 3 point loss to Edmonton in a rainstorm (Strev’s first start)
  7. ******* Ford needs to play a lot more. I think that's the big issue for him. Too bad he punted on last season, set himself back. I wouldn't be starting him (aka giving him all the reps at a corner spot) but I'd be getting his feet wet on D.
  8. agree 100%. What happens if augustine gets nicked up? We go with the guy who rushed barely 100 times in college who we know runs too upright and can't aim? If he comes off the roster then what? If mitchell goes down who can return punts? What if WJ goes down? Nahh, if thomas got hurt they'd start schmekel, activate samson, and send down one of the imp DTs to the PR... lol
  9. He makes a good point for sure. I think Mitchell has earned some ire, but by no means should be at the end of his leash. He can atleast catch punts which is an upgrade over some of the guys we ran out previously when grant was hurt. Which is a big reason why we need to airlift in a KR or two, if mitchell gets hurt it's gonna get soo much worse real fast. Gauthier barely played on D. Kyrie played the vast majority of the Mac reps. I think we are having to come to terms very quicky with the fact the team is not nearly as well coached as people believed. Mos is a culture setter in a big way. But that culture is locked in right now and maintained for better or worse by the locker room. Toronto beat us with a worse team in 22 based on significantly better coaching. Mtl, handled us twice in coaching as well. Buck is still a young OC, he's shown a lot of promise and his share of struggles. He isn't by any means ready to be a HC yet. He could really use an OC mentor imo. He's better at Plop than plop was at all his strengths. Game plan, XnOs, creativity, rolling in new looks etc. But he's still struggling where plops career has died multiple times. When the D is prepared and has a decent game plan we don't have the tactics to manufacture drives and dig our way out, building that momentum from a stalled point, and adjusting is huge. JY is super promising and I loved a lot of what I saw from the D last week, he's even younger (lol) but he has a great mentor and I wouldn't be surprised to see him pass buck in progress. The one real weakness was the struggle of that side of the D with assignments and decision making. JY will fix that, starting two canadian cover Dbs is crazy, but I think we are married to the concept for atleast a few weeks. I'm sure that Ford and that side of the D will play better vs ott. I think expectations are too high on MCI. Rbs are generally pretty turn key, but even brady was a work in progress. MCI was really positionless his last year in college and never the featureback kind of guy. He's an athlete with a great mindset and work ethic who is a work in progress. I don't expect much of him till next year. This is why I thought he was a none factor for us pre draft. I thought his time table, and how high he'd go would price us out. But I can't blame them for loving his tools.
  10. Today
  11. I really just wished they didn’t treat the 45 man roster and the practice roster as if they are two separate entities. The gameday depth chart should not be our week to week depth chart. We should not be using JA as anything beyond a gameday backup to Brady, if Brady can’t go one week then there should be a player on the practice roster ready to fill that role as a starter. Same with Gauthier, Ford, etc. I swear if Jake Thomas got hurt, we’d be starting Kyle Samson the next week. This is not the way the team should be operating. Our practice roster use continues to be so frustrating, we should be employing players who can develop their skills so that when they are called to play, there’s a shot you may have an immediate impact player not just some ham and egger who can do enough to get by.
  12. Ford will be ok. Yeah he got caught looking but he also showed some good ability on a few breakups. Learning curves. Not that I am suggesting he is the same at all, but after game 1 tsn was yucking it up about Alford getting roasted for a couple tds.
  13. I know you have been consistently high on Ford, but I was not impressed with him so far. I hope your optimism of him turns out to be much more accurate than my skepticism of him.
  14. yup...Osh being Osh....shamefull people were overly harsh on Ford...he gonna be fine.....MCI as well....he's a rookie and needs to learn a few things....but the physical skills and talents he has....you don't just find that anywhere...he as well will be fine....gotta let guys grow into things, as opposed to hanging on to guys too long...growing out of things so to speak and just keeping yourself behind in the development and transition...hence why we are where qe are in a few spots noe
  15. Who was he rotating in for the first game, Wilson, Kramdi or a HB? With Cole also competing for the same reps. it doesn't make a lot of sense.
  16. Ford is still starting. Augistine was getting all 1st team reps but MCI was getting some work at runningback today as well. Mitchell is still the main returner but Bonds does get some reps. Demski was a full participant.
  17. What is getting bleeped out here. 😂 Yeah I'm not sure about Myron Mitchell as a returner. The fumble was awful. Besides that he looked unspectacular. Seems to follow his blocks well enough.
  18. I'd be in the same boat if the guy wasn't fumble ******* the ball all over the field on O in both preseason games, dropping passes. Seems like an issue for him in general. Designated Americans can too. Another reason why it's nuts to not just designate someone even if you're not going to fully utilize the rule.
  19. Is Ford still with the starting D in practice? You could tell Brady was not right, hope he is either far closer to 100% than he was last game or we give him the time to heal he needs-any rate is Augustine taking all 1st teems reps? Is 0 still taking all KR/PR in practice? Nice to have Biggie back...but he better not be Biggie from GC version of nowhere near healthy enough to play? Is Demski practicing, he also looks injured right from the beginning to my eye test?
  20. Not convinced we should be that low. Played the shittiest we've played in a long time. Is that indicitive of who we are? Guess time will tell. We were also playing the Grey Cup Champs who looked like the most gelled team this week. It is week 1 so there isn't a tonne to go on. But I'd have us 4th right now behind Montreal, Toronto and BC.
