Kyle Connor has 48 point in 27 games an average of 1.7787 points per game .

Dylan Larkin had 47 points in 35 games for the same team last year for an average of 1.343 points per game .

Jack Eichel had 71 points in 40 games in his last year of college for  an average of 1.775 points per game .

I see Connor making the team in the fall and actually signing in March and getting a couple of weeks on the Jets roster at the end of the season.

I am hoping to see Connor on one wing with Wheeler or Ehlers or Armia on the other wing with Scheif or Matthews at center.

Going forward... Connor Scheif Wheeler Armia Ehlers and Matthews/Laine/Puljujärvi look like a pretty solid top 6 for a few years.

Lemieux, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Lowry, Harkins, De Leo,  Lipon, and Spacek will be fighting for roster spots sooner or later.

We have Comrie and Helle and Phillips for depth in goal and look to be set for some time.

Our D, on the other hand, needs some help on the depth. Besides Morrissey, there isn't much coming up the pike on the left hand side and I fully expect the Jets to take some LHD at this draft or trade for one by this time next year. There is Sami Niku and not much else. The RHD right now is very good but not a great deal coming up the pike. Hopefully Kostalek makes the team in at least a 3rd pairing position and hopefully Glover and/or Poolman and/or Nogier turn out.

Connor and Poolman - bring em up next year.  Keep everyone in suspense until September.  I hope he comes out and plays in the Young Stars tournament this year, maybe Winnipeg won't get their butts kicked so bad this time.

Sign him now and get him to learn the systems. He doesn't have to play a game unless they feel he is ready. If he shows in practice he is... play him and burn the year cuz like someone said in the big picture it means nothing 

Burn a year for maybe a game, a few games? Risk injury? For our anxiousness? Nonsense. If minor league contracts are not included..send him to the Moose. Otherwise, congratulate him on a good year and follow procedure. We can wait...

Even if it doesn't, sign him and get him here ASAP.

I don't think he will sign to play on the Moose.....what is he going to make? 70k a year?

He is ready to play in the NHL......he'll need work on his D game but most rookies do....he is ready.

What i mean is they send him down to the moose to avoid having played in nhl this year.

Prob no diff but not sure.

If that were the case, they would probably wait until after July 1 to sign him.

Don't burn a year, wait until July 1.

The extra year doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things IMO.  

Bring him in now.  Get some money in his bank account, signing bonus and game cheque for the remainder of the season.  Start getting those "good" feelings with the team and organization.

Let him meet the team, the coaches, the trainers, experience how a pro club operates on a daily basis, let him get the feel for all of that so his expectations are set and less unknowns next year.  Also to make him want to be a part of it.  The chartered flights, higher end hotels, equipment, and all the perks.  Get him on a training program and eating the right way.

They did it with Copp and Trouba, and if he wants to come, I suspect they will do it with Connor as well.

 

If you have seen this kid play you know this kid is talented get him signed he will be here a long time doesn't matter if you burn a year off his elc.

There's also that nagging possibility of an expansion draft in 2018 that will force issues..

The expansion draft poses no issue at all really...

If you have to protect Connor and Ehlers for that matter, along with Scheif and Wheeler and maybe Little and someone else, (Lowry,Armia,Petan type), You protect them and leave someone else exposed. Basically if the expansion draft happens, you aren't gonna be losing one of scheif,ehlers or connor cuz they are your future, the building blocks. Expansion draft is irrelevant cuz if need be, they would protect Connor and leave someone else unprotected. 

Im sure they want him signed so he is working with their development program all summer. Need him ready for next season.

The 2018 expansion draft (if there is one) won't affect Connor.

Yeah but they only played him in one game

Exactly - whether they need to protect or not, Connor wouldn't be going anywhere. But if you're forced to have to protect him you're risking losing a guy like Perreault, Dano or Burmi.  Certainly not core pieces...but still.

Well. Perreault and Burmis contracts are up at the end of next season. Perreault is UFA. Believe Burmi is still RFA. Dano? He's been here 4 weeks now.  Hasn't shown what he is totally capable of. 

Perreault hopefully signs a new deal. Burmi? Who knows at this point. He's a bottom 6 probably 4th line on a good team with no injuries. Not a big loss 

Perreault wil  be tough to resign probably gonna want 5 mil and Burmi at this point is replaceable, depending again what Connor show at trainning camp if he signs, and who we pick up at the draft. Bottom line i expect both plus Stafford to be dealt at the trade deadline next year if not before.

Any updates on Kyle Connor signing yet?  Or does he have to finish his semester of school first?
