Around the NHL

Catch all thread for discussing other NHL teams/news.

Up first:  Pittsburgh Penguins, my secondary team to cheer for.

I guess their worst start since Sid's rookie year could be because of their lousy defense.  Or bad coaching.  Or Kessel.

But in reality its because I took Fleury in my pool every year for 10 years until last year when I was fed up, he has his best year ever and then I took him this year and now he sucks.

But really, whats the deal?  They might be the first to can their coach.

Lol nurse Klefbom and Schultz. Oilers add significantly like Eberle significant

I|'m not going to do it but I can bet most top NHL lists have Buff and Myers ranked ahead of Hamonic. I like his toughness, lotsa minutes and his abilty to be used as a shut down defender... as well as being from St. Malo, MB.

They might want Trouba for Hamonic.

Schenn is RHD? Well **** him then.

If we begin to expand on this deal does Ladd get thrown in and okposo the other way (both UFA's)

nice that for a change a player wants to come to Manitoba!

 get him!

Ladd for Tavares! :)

Seriously though, if somehow they can off-load old Toby, I'm 100% onboard.  I am so tired of seeing the other team just skate up to him and take the puck away...

Ladd Trouba or Myers for Hamonic and Okposo is interesting. Hamonic is better than Myers and Trouba. On a long term very cap friendly deal. Ladd UFA. Okposo UFA.

I wouldn't trade Hamonic for trouba straight up. Too much potential in trouba.

What if Trouba is struggling with *keeping his head on straight* off the ice?

What if trouba wants too much money? How much is he worth. He's regressed since his buddy zach left. I'd do it. Hamonic is better. Potential means nothing if you don't reach it plus he's not exactly known to be a guy who takes his fitness level seriously.

6.5 plus per year for Ladd? Move him. He's not worth it.

Trouba is RFA. Doesn't really matter what he wants.

Off ice issues might be a reason to move him. No doubt isles would have to add a small plus to get trouba tho. Hamonic plus 1st or Dal Colle or something.

Ladd, Myers for a 2nd, Hamonic and Barzal.

Tait says been hearing the Isles asking for Little, Hellebuyck, Pick as part of the package and he says there is no way the Jets part with that.

Well the Islanders aren't going to let him go for some of the names i've read lately but that is massive over payment.

What he said was one blog suggested that. Not even close to "hearing the Isles asked" :P

AAV of 3.8 makes Hamonic difficult to trade. most players of equal impact are going to be more expensive. Isles won't want to increase costs

This is an interesting point.  Although it makes Myers or Trouba attractive.  I think Chevy can get the deal done without losing any core pieces of the D.  I'd suspect a prospect and/or someone like Postma who is still young and has some upside could help make it happen.  I know people around here crap on Postma but another team might see him as a solid reclamation project.

hahahahaha

Not only would Chevy laugh his ass off at that, the Isles wont get a package like that from ANY team.  I wouldnt trade Little OR Helle straight up for Hamonic, let alone a package that includes both and a pick.  Isles would have to throw in a whole lot of awesome for that.

Hamonic us supposed to address the media today so we'll see what he sayd but Lawless was saying the request came in the summer and the first call Snow made would have been to the Jets so this tells you they were not able to come to a deal yet.  And the fact this is public is probably Hamonic's agent putting pressure on Snow.  So that changes thing.

I wonder if the agent is privy to some of the names being thrown around and the pressure is not just on Snow but on Chevy as well, to bridge the gap and get it done.

Also, curious as to what the reason is that the player feels he needs to be closer to home.

The Islanders are in a win now mode, they aren't building.   They aren't going to trade one of their top pairing defencemen for picks and prospects.  The deal is going to have to include a competent (Top 6 / Top 4) roster player than can play now.

Postma and a prospect won't even get talks started...

Really?  If I was Snow and Chevy said "Postma and Connor", I'd be talking.

Connor and Postma won't get you Hamonic.

Myers or Buff plus Postma might.
