My vote goes to Mike Benevides because he is experienced running a CFL defence and also has head coaching experience, and has worked extensively with Wally Buono.

I voted for Benevides too.  Lots of great experience and BC's defenses have been way above average in the last few years.

Benevides would make it easier to fire O'Shea should the scenario ever arise. I wonder if O'Shea could see him as a potential threat, or if he only cares about winning. If it's only about winning, I think Benevides is the obvious choice.

Does anyone know if Bene. was in town for a meeting? I know Claybrooks was.

I'd be happy with Benevides, Claybrooks or Hall myself, and even Kavis Reed would be an improvement over Etch.

I hate Benevides, but attempting to separate that I think he's overrated a bit. With Wally as HC and Benevides as DC he was in a great situation and worked with a strong group of defensive players often.

I like Hall and could see Osh liking his supposedly quiet style. Claybrooks intrigues me but I'm a fan of Barron Miles too. I'd be happy with any of the three but I would go Hall-Claybrooks-Miles.

Because he doesn't. Wally had an out clause in the contract where if Bene was fired by Dec 15 the remaining 2 years are void.

Benevides got a severance package for 6 months according to Ed Tait, but extension didn't kick in until December 15 as gbill stated.

My thoughts exactly.

I chose Hall, but I'd take Benevides too.  The difference in my preference between the two is very minimal.

 

Claybrooks is a rookie, so on one hand you're taking a chance, on the other he's had a lot of time getting to know how Stubler runs his D.

Claybrooks was in line to be Calgary's DC last season until Stubler became available and he's the heir apparent when he retires. I like anybody that Huff likes.

My vote is Benevides... simply cuz BC has had a very good D for a long time... I also like Richie Hall
