Bombers sign two more receivers

Blue Bombers Transactions

WINNIPEG, MB., June 7, 2014 -The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed import receivers Juaquin Iglesias and Bert Reed.

Iglesias (6-1, 212, Oklahoma, August 22, 1987 in Killeen, TX) played six games for the Argos in 2013, catching three passes for 65 yards, all on Jul 11th vs SSK. Played in the team's first six games before spending time on the Practice Roster. He was selected by Chicago with the 99th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft (Rd #3). Played one game for the Bears and also had tryouts with Minnesota and Houston. Iglesias spent his college career at Oklahoma, where as a senior (2008) he caught 74 passes for 1,150 yards in for the Sooners, fourth best in school history. He played 54 games at Oklahoma with 202 catches for 2,310 yards and 19 TDs.

Reed (5-10, 183, Florida State, June 1, 1988 in Panama City, FL) was most recently with Jacksonville of the AFL. Previous to that, he spent brief times with Tampa Bay, Denver, Pittsburgh and Cleveland in the NFL. He played his collegiate football at Florida State where he finished fourth all-time in career receptions (170) for the Seminoles. He currently ranks 12th all-time in school history with 2,022 receiving yards, making him one of only 12 players ever at FSU to break the 2,000 receiving yard career mark.

The club has also released import offensive lineman Ed Prince.

Poor saps don't know they're walking right into a player strike.

Juaquin Iglesias is a very cool name.  I am cheering for him now.

Any relation to Enrique Iglesias?

man if this iglesias kid ever sees the field and scores a td, they need to play "hero" by enrique. That would be oustanding.

Or Bailamos.

Didn't like Iglesias on the Bears, on the Argos or now. The other guy looks decent, though.

Yeah, not a big Iglesias fan. He has never been able to get separation.

Don't you talk about Juaquin like that.

Where are they finding these guys?

Uniform-fillers.com?

The way we are going through IMP OL and the number of them around makes me think we won't be starting fewer than 2 IMP on the OL.

Scary to think we still need to bring in more import receivers and yet another import O-lineman. To my eyes, neither area needed shoring up, but our NI roster sure looks to need help with nothing on the horizon.

Rather see them being pro active rather taking a wait and see approach. Still lots of time before season to get guys in and get them caught up.

Minimum 2, probably 3. And the odd game they might go as high as 4, especially if Morley looks really old and The Goose is still a few games or a season away from starting.

With four imports on the O-Line we'd have to start Volney at RB and have three Canadian receivers.

Iglesias was very, very good in college. Not sure how much everyone follows college ball, but he was the new, even better (in college) Mark Clayton for the Sooners. If he can get his pro career on track he can be a nice weapon for the Blue & Gold.  If he doesn't pan out, whatever.  No risk, high reward.

I'm going to ask you this once and move on, on the free press comments section there is a poster by the name of bob ganason, is that you? because only he'd mention something as ridiculous as what you did to a response talking about 4 import oline.. yup, should have drafted coombs, yeah that fixes our lack of canadian oline problem for sure..

As long as he doesn't break out in a rendition of "To All The Endzones I've Been In Before" ...

It's not surprising at the number of bodies being looked at this training camp, the team needed an overhaul and it's getting one.

I had big plans for Bailamos after his TDs!!

How do you sign a guy and release him the next day?

Must have failed the walkthrough.
