He also has got hurt doing it...several times...id keep him away from it

As a qb3 TE will never see the field..and Perkins so far has been lights out doing it..so why change what's not broken? So rostering TE to stand around won't develop him anymore than as the reserve guy getting full pay but just not dressing

Plus...maybe Condell can use him in 2 qb sets and get ball in his hands in space..he would do a hell of a lot more integrated into offence on a few plays a game than Corcoran or Cobb will do all yr combined..there is that aspect to keeping him

Football your one play away from injury. Best to have TE as the #3. Other team went with 2 in the past and had to use a receiver as a QB.

I don't think it changes much for him. Sure he's one more guy getting injured away from his shot in the immediate, but he's also not ready so if Collaros was down can almost guarantee the Bombers would have made a move on a veteran QB anyways.

He's got tremendous talent, particularly with his arm, but is very raw. Keep in mind how many even quality backup CFL QB's carve up pre-season defences. Like Streveler. Even that guy Sask put in later in the game. Elgersma you could see the talent but also how raw he was with reads, the pulling down and running the ball, forcing it (which is better than the alternative of folding in the pocket).

This is a learning year, next year is a competing year and Year 3 he should be pushing the starter.

I hope we see some signs of life from a guy like Fletcher.

Yeah he was definately a long way ready for prime time...and who knows maybe never will be....The prototypical NFL body and big arm dont always translate into success

And the fact he matched the eye test perfectly in the NFL but never got a sniff after his one camp is more telling than anything...There could be things in his game that need a lot of work...He has 3 yrs here to show/develop so has time..as does the team now with Dru here cause no way in world we should be bringing ZC back next yr regardless of what he does this yr...Tying the cart to him this yr with no real viable backup was a major risk and could almost be viewed as a blunder...we just fixed that

I’m glad pressure is off TE and he won’t have to be forced into action this year. It’s for the best. Next years camp is gonna be crazy watching him and brown go at it.

Smith back in but no other changes. We are purely banking on improved execution and adjustments off the bye week. Don’t love it, but also don’t see the answer to fixing the D in roster moves that are readily available.

The coaches need to earn their keep this week. Us at home off a bye week has been a struggle in the past.

Haven’t been good against the pass either. Definitely reasons to be worried about our D.

No problem if we score 50 points.

In an interview with the Free Press yesterday, Kramdi blamed it all on execution rather than talent and opined that when they get that sorted out, all would be well. We shall see.

failing to see that at times a lack of talent results in lack of execution...being a step too slow...or a second or 2 to late in recognizing something... you can execute the crap outta something but makes no difference if the aforementioned conditions exist...so yup....we shall see

Yep. Unfortunately, I don’t see any remote options to improve talent in the secondary or dl. At lber, we are soo banged up idk if we really have great options there either.

It’s becoming more and more rare in today’s cfl to find those highly successful airlifts mid season. Too many guys sit in the nfl bubble and will go to the xfl to get film if they don’t get looks.

Coming up here, making all the adjustments to the game, getting a spot and playing 1/2 a season then facing the option year just isn’t the draw vs getting a couple weeks pr pay.

I’ve said it before, and it would never happen under this leadership, but I would’ve revoked travel home during the bye week and had practice. Even though you can’t have meaningful contact you can still drill movement and re action into the dirt. Especially when the secondary struggles as bad as we did vs hamilton. You can drill coverage and to an extent, run fits.

Or to adopt a hockey strategy after a horrible game, a bag skate would be in order.

old school football, wind sprints till you puke. Not literally in this era, but a hard day like that is all the tougher for an older team.

Too much coddling..too much "we will watch film and fix what we saw with errors" too much reliance on the past...not enough accountability..not enough tough love..not enough proper player evaluating

Our record after a bye over the past 8 years is actually quite impressive. Our record heading into a bye week...not so much.

We are 19-6 coming off the bye since 2015, I think we are doing it right.

It IS about execution. It’s about making a tackle. It’s about being in the spot you are supposed to be. You **** on the bombers constantly yet every team in the leagues D is being picked on, the refs are quite obviously favouring the O. DBs getting thrown to the ground, no offensive PI? How many holding calls on olines? None really.

Field side wide receiver absolutely sucks. Are the Bombers actually serious that they can't do anything to get those 2 scrubs off the field & get actual receivers who can play in this league in there instead? What kind of scouting system do we have that this may take an entire season to resolve itself? If at all.

I'm thinking the D will improve as the season goes on. I think we'll see most teams improving as they play more games. Which is why I harp more on the field side receiver situation than the D. Usually bigger problems like defensive breakdowns are easier to fix than staying with a lack of talent at a receiver position & the HC unwilling to change thje situation.

Token DT on 2nd and 25 situation...on every down.

I also think the D will get things sorted out

We've had a pretty big turnover in our D and they need to get comfortable. I'm not worried about our D at all. They will find their game.

Pretty good rostering imo. Nothing to complain about here.

The basically giving up a spot as @SpeedFlex27 mentions is a huge concern.

Oh I agree. I just think I’ve seen some of these same problems with the D last season also. However, a healthy Kevens Clercius would make that spot improved also wouldn’t it.

Edited by Goalie

in my opinion, I see depth getting some reps until the starter is healthy there. And how many looks is option 5 getting really. Like as long as a db or lb is covering him, that removes 1 player from Demski pokey or white and nield. On D? I see Tony and Kyrie still making 1160 tackles but 1158 are after 10 yards are gained. I see a hole at DT still. Not sure Jenkins is great. Like Reese and the injured dude more.moxey been a bust so far also

D just concerns me more for some reason. Call it. Reverse of last year. Or I dunno but you know what, how long it go for until you look at Younger actually as the problem. Just curious.

D seems a little 2 complicated. Maybe 2 much thinking less actually playing football. We shall see. Rankin is a big test. And if the Fajina puts up numbers on us, then perhaps it’s time ???

Disagree. Tony Jones was barely adequate as MLB and moving him outside makes him a good deal worse.

He’s played outside every game. Is it him or scheme?

Hopefully, these things will get worked out.
