He's clearly one of those "the CFL sucks so much compared to NFL" types that I hate so much

Is this something I'd have to be on Twitter to get? The dude doesn't seem disrespectful of the game on TSN broadcasts -- the only disapproving note I get from him is when a player screws up a detail of their assignment and he coaches them up from the booth, and that's actually super cool, because again, it takes me inside the game.

Montreal is always looking to bring in new blood to improve their roster.

Bombers for the most part tend to bring in their training camp cuts if they need players.

They brought in Hansen , that's more then enough activity for them....

Twitter is full of awful, awful people.

Willson always has a tone of "this player sucks and there are so many mistakes that would never be made in the NFL..." a lot of condescension, IMO...

I think that’s just his overall arrogance coming across. He does the same thing talking about the NFL highlights.

Ahhh okay that could be. I have never watched NFL highlights so I wouldn't have seen that. Definitely some arrogance...

When u have a 600k qb who can't climb the pocket..have escapability and essentially turtles when any threat of pressure is in his face..u generally are bottom of league in that stat..not saying our line is great by any means but not as bad as they seem..victims of what i said..some horrible schemes and weakest center in league who I dont think is making the right calls..let alone recognizing fronts and blitzers to make call outs

Never thought with the dumping of kolo that in 2026 we be even worse at center...but here we are and we just keep banging our head against wall thinking that after 14 games hed be better...if anything he has regressed as teams have ample film on him and know all his deficiencies...but he got big legs according to Osh so we good

Not to mention, Zach loves to hold the ball and try for deep shots, and is not quick mechanically to get the ball out. He really has to put in max effort to get velocity on the ball now, which has greatly hurt his ability to get it away. Mechanically, he's the anti-Danny Mac. But the outcome is almost the same as late-career Mac.

Elsbury isn't worse than Kolo, imo, but he might not be better than any other C in the league. Which, going from old Kolo to a young Imp on the interior of the OL, is mind-boggling. You have to work hard to suck at replacing a guy that bad.

It falls on basically everyone on O. From the system to OL to QBs to WRs, even Brady has struggled more this year in pass pro than ever before.

When you make good players struggle at something they've been great at for a long time, you've really messed up.

The sad thing is that doesn't get all the way into how bad our pass pro has been this year. 2.5 sacks per game against us vs. BC, giving up 2 sacks per game; vs. Sask, giving up 1.4 sacks per game. But the pressures and hits are what really separate us from even other basement-dwelling teams. We will almost certainly end up giving up more than 200 hits and hurries this year, and 45-50 sacks on top of that.

Maksymic isn't reinventing the wheel over in Edmonton, and he doesn't have some insane talent set on offence. He's giving Cody easy, quick decisions and not letting the D dictate with pressure. He's running a balanced attack really well.

If Maksymic had ended up here and TC in Edmonton, we would be in the battle to win the West.

There hasn’t been a pocket to climb in years. Pressure inside has been unbearable with Kolo and now Elsbury.

Zach does suck at evading pressure too though

True. That is the best source of disruption as well. The easiest and quickest way to impact the offence is to push the C back onto the QB's lap.

I agree. I started out really disliking him with his stints on the desk with Jay. He often just craps on players, plays, coaching decisions, etc. Comes off as arrogant and annoying. But as a colour guy, I like him. He gives some actual insight and talks about the X’s and O’s In a real way. He can still be a bit annoying, but he’s way, way better in that role.

We won't truly know Luke's ability in the booth until they bring in Keith Urban for the ultimate test. OK Mark H., let me have it for "bringing up Keith Urban again"....lolAmerican Idol GIF

There are members here who don't like Maksymic as they feel all he does is the throw the ball. The guy is a very good OC. Our last two have been bottom feeders.

The previous one wasn't even a bottom feeder..he was what the bottom feeders consumed...or just stinky chum dropped in the water to attract the sharks to feast

Speaking of Condell.....I'd really like to see the stats on the formation where they empty the backfield and put brady as the field side WR. That might be one of the dumbest formations to use throughout a season. I get using it as a one off situation. But Condell seems convinced that the best player on O doesn't need to be close to the ball. He's essentially going 11 Vs 11 without his best player in that formation. GAWD I hate it!!!

Maksymic certainly came with Questions, and plenty of them from around here (including me) during our various OC hunts. I don't think its fair to question his commitment to running the ball, though.

This year he has Ranking in Edmonton, who is already over 1k and 2nd in the league.

In 25 they had the 3rd leading rusher (Butler 1200+)

In 24 they had the 2nd leading rusher (Stanback 1100+)

In 23, they didn't have good stability at RB or OL, and Mizzell led in the games he played.

In 22, Butler was 2nd in the league and over 1k.

In 21, they did chuck a lot,

In 19, in Edmonton, he had Gable go over 1k while missing 4 games.

So, over 6 seasons, his feature back for the year has totalled over 6700 yards. Which is not including back up rbs playing for injured guys, or the games not yet played this year. That's 13 more games. Considering he has had running qbs, and we have been a lock for a top 1-2 rushing team every year, him having the no 2/3 running back on average over the past 6 years is pretty great.

I also wouldn't say Buck was a bottom feeder. Buck was really on the upswing in his career as a CO here until Zach got deep-shot happy and the roster management left us with some pretty poor WR cores. Though TC is basically a former OC walking right now.

Like a Lancet fish. They run around eating up other smaller Lancet fish and get huge. But they get so big and confident as predators that they end up prey for larger salmon, sharks, etc. It's a nasty-looking guppy-esque fish that wants to eat enough smaller, weaker kin so it can become a shark. But instead, it becomes shark bait.

Drives me insane. Can't protect? Why even try! Best guy with the ball in his hands, get him the hell away from the ball!

For what its worth, Zach said he's ready to go when called upon. (3:30 mark)

Just to clarify, bottom feeder (last two) refers to Hogan & Condell.

Tyler's former qb coach (Argo) Greg Barton died in Portland in 2017. He had Alzheimer's. My wife, Tyler & I went to see him about 3 months before he passed away. He recognized Tyler but couldn't remember who he was though you could tell he was trying to figure where he had known my son from. We visited with Greg & his wife Heather for a couple of hours. Greg sat on his sofa quietly smiling but not talking. Didn't say a word. When we were leaving & saying our goodbyes we kind of knew the end was coming soon for Greg. As Tyler turned to leave, Greg stopped him & said, "If you need anything. Any help to get a scholarship, please let me know". Tyler had already graduated from SFU two years earlier. Tyler said, "Alright Coach, I will. Thank you". That was the last conversation those two ever had. The Old Coach inside Greg came to life one last time.
