25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

Is this ever a guy we should take a run at? I really like Pokey as a receiver but not sure he's a 1A Superstar guy... Would you ever take a run at Hatcher as your #1 and then have Pokey and Demski as 2/3?

I hate change. This is going to take me like a year to get used to.

Can confirm - ran it through Google Translate and this is what came back:

  • Brady is the most complete running back in the CFL full stop. Rushing, receiving, blocking, no one does it all as well as he does.   Now that doesn't automatically make the contract he got w

Yep, all-purpose back, see if he can run any kind of route or screens, motion packs etc. I'd teach him to handle kick-offs, even be a timing rusher off the edge to block kicks. And use him as the sneak guy.

You could either roster him as the 3rd qb and use him as a flex player all over the rest of the field, or you could roster him as an RB, and carry 3 imp QBs.

There is a whole lot you can do with a guy that dynamic. QB to S is a strange but surprisingly effective swap for athletic guys as well.

Would have to come fairly cheap tho.

It's tough because he does have the raw abilities.  I'd feel way more comfortable with him being a 3rd stringer... I wouldn't want to invest in him being a backup though.

As a QB he serves no purpose to any team right now. One could argue 3rd string, but I'd rather have a guy who hasn't washed out at that position.

I like Ford he has more tools than Streveler ever did. Im just not sure we can afford the salary

And yes I think he could be qb2 just needs some proper  coaching

I don't think coaching will help him much. He's just not a particularly good passer.

KeeSean Johnson re-signs for two years in SK- $215k and $220k. That’s a steal.

Ya this was a few days ago.... Definitely would have liked him here.

A luxury we don't have but If I'm the GM I'm not signing him for his passing, I'm signing him to add a nice wrinkle to the O.

Unfortunately he was signed before tampering, we likely anticipated he would

Dustin Crum or Tre Ford -  Who would you want as a backup for the club?

Oh, I only saw this today. I’m very surprised that’s what he settled for. Would take him any day over White or Mack.

That's a great deal for the Riders. Bastards.

I'm not sure how you anyone who watched how both guys played last year and decide Ford is the better option. Crum isn't a starter but he very much showed he has the potential to be more than a sandlot QB. IMO he was the better option for OTT last season even. Guy just has heart that Brown seemed to be missing.

did he retire?

Now if Zach can re-learn how to throw a mid range ball rather then lobbing a deep ball into triple coverage...

That's why a guy like Lawler was so valuable & we. let. him. walk. SMH.

Crum & it ain't even close. Ford? pfft. Put him as a running back with the option to throw downfield. Get him holding on field goals so he can throw out of FG situations. Use his throwing ability that way. Not as a backup qb as he can't do it.

For sure. Senecal would play for the min im sure in that role. I'm not sure ford had the intangibles to make that work. But if he does, I'd be happy to have him.

agree

I'd probably take Ford.  More healthy and has a better track record then Crum.

The reality is that Demski has a lot more days behind him than in front of him and he is getting dinged more often and needs longer and longer times to rebound. Tre Ford ought to be a natural replacement.

Ottawa released him.

Wow, people would actually pick Crum? Based on Crum-backs a few years ago, I guess.

Give Ford an offence suited to his abilities (2 reads & run or ride and decide) & don't try to turn him into a pocket passer. Let him do what he does well and reduce the number of dropbacks and reads he has to do. He would be at least as successful as Streveler, although that's a pretty low bar.
