Not nearly as bad as Tui showed. Did he play Centre..no..did he show an inability to block..yes.

Excellent as the 6th in heavy sets is not a ringing endorsement. I am not pleased with Kola but let's not pretend Tui offered more. Our centre position could have and should have been addressed in the offseason but our GM was not up to the task

Compared to Tua, what did Kola offer? Absolutely nothing. I'd have moved Eli to Center over that loser two years ago. he still would have outplayed him.

Kolankowski also shows an inability to block.... worse than Eli IMO. I mean it seems thr rare snaps Eli gets in at centre we busy a big run up the middle... Eli was at C when Chris-Ike had a huge run up the middle against Montreal.

The point is we kept the guy around for years and never once tried him.at C despite C being the worst starter on our team.

People crap on ELI and say it be a non factor because they are the Osh defenders....Eli would be just fine if he was slotted as the starter there 2..3 yrs running now...people fail to correlate that our line has started to slide and wasnt close to what it was and became an issue as soon as KOLO was gifted the starter role...3 yrs ago...think about it

Eli was a great collage player who has done squat in the pros. Nothing to do with MOS.

except that’s not the case. He started a few games early on, and has been the best and most used 6ol in the league. You’d be stunned how much we have gone heavy set in the last two years.

One of the reasons IMO we struggle to find open receivers.

and he got a chance to start when???...What has Kolo done other than make Osh all firm to keep him playing...ot's not his stellar performance

There are a lot of instances where guys dont get a legit chance here and it's all on Oshea....if he has a hardon for a particular guy...good luck getting a chance to bump them out

a lot of our success in jumbo is on him....on short yardage too...generally guys go his side...and when they dont...we often fail

If a guy can block as 6th...off edge as a TE...one who is always in second level creating chaos.....do people truly think he isnt able to do that at center...his position he played all his life?...

I can see why people say he hasnt earned it....but he hasnt been given a 2..3 game stretch to run with it...Kolo has been given ....gifted a 3 yr run...and got shittier each and every yr...how shitty does a guy have to get to finally be punted off the roster....Watching Jake..Kolo...Korny and others before....reeeeaaaaaal shitty apparently

part of that is the real poor receiver routes in this ....i wont even call it playbook....cause I dont think we even really had one...and a lot of what we installed and ran in camp to "prepare" everyone....we jettisoned....like wtf

Preaching for 2 yrs now coaching is our downfall....and if in playoffs this yr would be again....and wow.....it reaered its ugly but all too familiar head

I also dont think Osh knows how to coach/scheme or make any kind of play or teachable lesson....as he hasnt shown it....and I dont thinkn he can show it....when he has less than stellar co-ords his teams are brutally bad...and he isnt able to take on a role other than be the "leader"...and even then...seen minimal actual leading of late...a whole lotta excuses...non-chalantness...deflection....zero accountability....it's all good baby....cant we see it??....lol

Not offensively he doesn't and he admitted as much during his presser.  Said he can't draw up plays for the offense but he should have done more to support them with a rookie OC.

well at least he is taking some accountability...tho if he had half a brain he would also see the issues, and be able to make some suggestions to fix....and with that comes who he rostered.....he severely handcuffed our offensive chances in the ESF with who he put out there...and unwillingness to flip his ratio...heck he didnt even really need to flip it....just add an import reciever

There is no universe in which Hogan should be brought back as offensive coordinator. He was an unmitigated failure and the offense outside of 1 game was abysmal.

Yup. I would expect that he was on a one year deal to match what was left of OSHs. Hopefully that makes it more likely we just say thanks but he's not welcome back.

I mean 3-4 targets down field in the cfl can be very hard to create opportunities with unless you have a very high level specific set of passing concepts and players. Of which we have neither.

Yep, no one else goes guard to tackle on a regular basis. kola can’t create drive, so we have to chase a guard or further out.

It’s a law excuse tbh. For one of the best defensive players and minds of his era, he should easily be able to help reverse engineer success from what defence do to limit our O, and create successful plays that put defenders in conflict and our skill players in space.

Its not even a matter of needing to design new plays, virtually every play type imaginable is already drawn out and available on professional football XnO platforms like pro quick draw go route and tons more. Tons of teams have this stuff in visio and will send basic stuff to people in other leagues, conferences, levels etc.

I don’t think you can bring that guy back in any role. Hes totally burnt here

ZC's presser pretty much said this albeit wrapped in diplomacy.

yup...with the kolo....if we wanna retain Schmeck...thats the guy they should develop into a center....he prob believe it or not on the whole team...both sides of the ball is quickest off the snap...has a lethal knife push to collapse a line too....

I can't see any reasoning or rality where he is brought back...none....considering what a lot of the read between the lines statements from players....and the outside the ears of the media chatter is a lil more...profane shall I say....If he is brought back Osh better be grilled...questioned and called out on it

And Osh's excuse as mentioned...which it is...a real bad one that he "cant draw up play"...like cmon...then you shouldnt be a coach at pro level....there is pretty much a template to run an offence off...its how you add to it...how you use it and the creativity within it...there is only so much....and so many concepts you can use...If a 12 yr running HC has no ability to do coachable things...getta outta here now

I said before that I didnt think Osh was a good coach in regards to the teachable stuff and creating things....creating concepts and ability to adjust...let alone see where adjusting is required....Guess he just confirmed it

Hopefully Elgersma, in time, can become that guy for us.

Will he sign with us? The rookie salary cap is ridiculous. How the CFL runs sometimes s a joke. we're 5 years out of the pandemic. The league will cut off their nose to spite their face. Some players deserve more than others.

It has everything to do with Osh. He & Thomas are the worst example of pandering & favouritism by our HC.

If Elgersma ever wants to play in the NFL one day and make that good money, he needs to come play up here (with us or someone else) or he can try the UFL.  No different than what Rourke had to do.  The fact that nobody else has even kicked tires on Elgersma yet is telling though.  I think he needs to show he can play consistently at higher level than USports - he had a good camp with the Packers but it's a small sample size.

Every league has a rookie max of some type so that's also not unique - yeah it's low but compared to salaries in bigger leagues, all CFL (rookie or not) salaries are low.  Some players feel they deserve more without having earned it yet.

It's might be that Eli's best ability is his versatility and he's never going to be more than a 6th offensive lineman.

he's got no chance in hell of any NFL money or playtime...He\'s not even close to what Rourke was/is....and he lasted for what amounted to 35 seconds and major politics working against him..Elgersma has even more than Rourke....he's smoking crack if he thinks he gonna wait and get a chance...and make zero dollars doing it....But he could make anywhere from 300 to 600k a yr up here if he is legit....

that's actually part of whats hurting him....He excels in that role...can fill in at guard...center...I bet RT too.....use as a TE on run schemes...road grader on short yardage....is viscious in second level...KOLO cant fill in anywhere let alone even play center at a decent degree....and our lack of depth is stonewalling Eli...he's a victim of a poor roster...poor scouting....poor coaching decisions...

So then we need to find another centre if Eli is the versatile guy.

Bottom line if you're not trying to improve on your weakest players whay are you even doing?
