Watching the 1 minute of highlights today and my god Dustin Nielsen is a clown. You'd think Nathan Rourke won the Grey Cup with his pass to make it a one score game. Then they gloss over the fact the Lions got worked. They are trying so hard to make Rourke some sort of legend.

It’s odd. Rourke lacks that charisma to bring in new viewers. He seems like a boring guy honestly. If tsn were smart they would be pushing guys with personality and charisma cuz those guys could prob draw new viewers. Boring rourke giving boring answers won’t. Streveler has more fire and charisma even. You could hear him talking crap on the field. Didn’t hear much from Nathan.  “Do you know who I am “ stood out to me later in the game. Perhaps on the 4 for 4 drive.

I’ll give a shout out to our whipping boys, I thought JT and Sheehan had decent games. JT had reasonably consistent push and Sheehan had a 46 yard avg. 

Streveler had a better game than I thought he would. A couple of short lob throws to the sideline that could get a receiver killed, and a bit of luck he didn’t have another pick or two, but overall was pretty good.

Vaval was very good in the return game, but also lucky. You don’t get that lucky often where you recover your own fumble twice. Can’t play a returner you don’t trust, so he needs to clean that up.

HH to Vanterpool. Based on tonight is an upgrade on Dobson.

That 31 yard net punt from the lions 51 was ugly though. He was punting poorly from mid field but decent from our side.

He struggled picking up the right guys, and when he had position failed to contest the catch effectively at all. 
 Pretty disappointing, but he didn’t play that much in pre season and hasn’t played in a while. Maybe he needs to get the rust off, either way he’s gotta be better and quick. 

There's so many players that had a great night last night... it's hard to single out just three... there are three guys I want to mention, maybe not necessarily as the "top 3" stars, but just guys I think deserve a shoutout...

1- Kennall Randolph (I'd like to start the petition to call him Kenny Randy) - Thank you for your service Mr Lofton, but you are no longer required... we still love the years Yoshi gave us but he's dead to us in green... Randolph is the future and current starting tackle of this team... whether he remains on the right or takes over for Big Stan on the left

2 - Mike Ayers - He just makes plays... I'll admit Kyrie Wilson played well last night... but I hate that it's at the expense of Ayers... he should be an every down defensive player

3 - Keric Wheatfall - I don't like to anoint anyone too early... but it's looking like we really have something in this guy... could be a stud for years to come....

A million other players also played great last night... Strev, Peterson, The entire Oline, Demski, Jones, Kramdi, Vaval, Holm

To be fair, one near pick was tipped which isn’t on him and another was a crazy diving attempt at the turf. 
 He does need to protect the ball placement a bit better, but he did get better at that as the game went on. 

I’ll give a shoutout to Nichols also. Quiet game again. Ppl just don’t go after him. 

Vaval was dangerous, in more ways than one. Needs to hold onto the ball but I love how he attacks it.

BC quarterbacks have a habit of getting injured against us when things aren't going well don't they?

I really liked Randos game. I want to see him get better in the run game though. 
 
 

Vanterpool was really good at guard. Which you do expect from an imp playing guard. But he was likely our best ol last night. The old guys all got whupped a couple times

agree...Wheatfall showed the flashes last yr already...if hendidnt get hurt right out of the gate when he got to play he may have really developed last yr already....He's a guy I can see ZC really leaning on in intermediate and deep shots

Does Kyrie really have to play ST's?  Give the old guy a break, he's fragile enough, he can perform very well in certain situations if they manage his work load.

Yeah both Kelly and makonzo are 6 gamed.

I’d rather play him at dl than have him replace Castillo.

Long term, I think every team should be looking for a global or Canadian guy who can do all 3 jobs. That gives you incredible roster flexibility. Those guy are exceedingly rare, and they basically never stay up here now. 
 

Some one, sorry to the person idr who, had a brilliant idea in the off season/camp.  Just like we have the Canadian qb program in cfl camps, we should have the same program for kickers.

He said in his interview with Ed Tait last week that he spent some time in the offseason with a field goal kicking coach to get better at it so that he can be an effective backup FG kicker, but he said he doesn't have the range that Sergio does.

LOL Bombers had two of them in Leggs and Lirim and they chased them out of town, couldn't bring either back now for love nor money.  Bomber fans need to find more patience for their kickers!

Sheehan to needs to just focus on punting only....sure he had a decent game yesterday...a couple of wtf's but he's not good...or consistent...and far from consistently good...and needs to learn to 2 step punt...he gonna get a few blocked this yr...got lucky on one last night...and no it's not cause a back-up snapper....it is his technique...which is horrible

You’re right. I hated running legs out. Maybe he needed the change of scenery though.

Leggs seems to be kicking well in the windiest stadium in the league.

 

Sergio is actually pretty smart, he never quite attains perfection, missing the occasional FG or convert every few games strangely lowers peoples expectations and increases their acceptance when he does miss, which was not the case for Leggs.   As long as he produces when the chips are down and doesn't cost them a game, he should remain a fan favourite.

I don’t mean the actual stadium. I mean the pressure he was under here and the whole no one could kick any damn ball back then for us. 
 Kickers are really strange animals. Once they get the yips it’s hard to break. Medlock was lowkey famous in the nfl for being a kicker like that. Up here one of the best to ever do it.
