Bailey over Kornelson makes a lot of sense. MOS not so much. So 9 linebackers, are we using a ton of 3-4?

A rookie Canadian WR as the only back up is also a head scratcher.

I wish we had media that actually asked MOS questions.

10...Ayers is a LB not a DE

All that potential shown in camp and preseason and we trot out last years team. Still no killers on defence.

If you're not getting better, you're getting worse.

If a single receiver goes down we are absolutely ******, but at least we dressed 17 Canadian linebackers.

J. Jones is the killer....hard hitter...great tackler....just bends guys when he lays into them....T.Jones should not be ahead of him....but tenure and here before holds precedence over the best option...Especially if Osh has a chubber for u

Is there something about our schemes where we value a glut of DTs over having rotations at DE? Do we think we can just pull LBs down to the end position if need be?

If rebusrankin is right and we run a bunch of 30 front again it makes some sense. We did that a lot last year, but barely did it in pre season/camp. Even at that though, our DTs aren't guys who are effective on the edge of a 30. Its basically just Adams, who is the only imp DT.

I'll admit that I'm not following the league as much as I used to.   Are we the only team doing this these days?

I always thought the CFL was known for frequent turnover and basically only the all-stars would keep their jobs year in and year out?

Kyrie needs to come out playing like his hair is on fire. Like the peak former level of play. And he needs to stay healthy, then maintain that level.

Aside from the injuries themselves, the thing that kills Kyrie is that after he comes back from injury, it takes him a good month to get back up to his best level of play.
Even then, I didn't see any signs of that old Kyrie at all this preseason/camp.

I like the player Ayers is. He has tremendous instincts, football IQ, and willingness to do whatever it takes to make a play. I think that's a guy you get on the field, any place you can. He's athletic enough and smart enough to make plays at basically any level of the defence.

My big concern with him on the DL is that he is such a grinder, he could get hurt and worn out really fast. The guy only has 1 gear, and he's not used to facing an OL every snap.

I'm glad Ayers and Vaval made it onto the game day roster. I'm glad Adams is in and starting, I'm glad Smith and Shay are in. I hope they get some actual snaps. I'm also glad we are going 3 imp OL.

Parker needs to show out imo. We are really deep and young at DB. I hope he's back to his best form. Having gone from Lawler to Sterns in the WR core year over year is disappointing. He needs to show out too.

Do you think opposing coaches look at our depth chart and have a bit of a chuckle?  Obviously, the team has been successful, so I’m not saying anyone is looking down on us, but I got to believe it’s something other coaches notice and probably enjoy.

and with two DE's over 30...you dont wanna run them out every snap....so why not having a true end to compliment them is just stupid...Sure Adams can do it...but he isnt a legit end and takes away from what he can do inside...and If I see JT on the end again I will literally go on the feild and personally take him out...so you'all will enjoy that site hahaha

we can be very effective in a lot of 30 fronts with a combination of WJ....JV....Lawson....Adams......Woods and Person if they got rostered in various set ups...not with Thomas or god forbis Korn in place of any one of them...I sure we will see it tho...and they will be washed away or just ran right past

Imo, the top teams are not.

Montreal walked away from Fajardo, Toronto cut Carey, Bc moved on from Vaj, and others. The bottom tier of teams (Edmonton, Calgary, and Hamilton) brought in wholesale change, adding top-level talents.

We are basically on the treadmill tier with Ottawa.

I bet the opponent looks at a few positions and say ok, how can we exploit this? Last year, teams exploited our DL not by attacking our weakest guys but by gang blocking WJ and forcing us to beat better blockers 1 on 1 with green under performers. They treated our WR core and OL similarly.

Maybe I am overreacting, but seeing what is arguably a worse starting roster than last year, in a Grey Cup year, is super disappointing. I will probably eat my words when we stomp the Farhan's tomorrow, but man the wind is out of my sails right now.

You guys lost the best field CB in the league, an division all star in Dobson at LG.  Other than that, the who are you missing?

Linebacking corps seem better.

If Kyrie is healthy...and stays...I like that....but man...when has he been that all yr...HiM and J.Jones as the defacto starters with Ayers and if roster allows T.Jones as a constant rotation would be very solid....

The end situation this game tho...like wtf when you could have had both Bailey and Person on ...with Ayers if you chose to sit one of Wilson/T.Jones....either one of them off would be a non issue with who they were replaced with

Do you think he will actually see some snaps at DE?  He hasn’t played there that I’m aware of and I didn’t see/hear any reports of him practicing there.  Maybe I missed it?

not sure they chuckle...but they see who is rostered and attack certain areas accordingly tho

Gotta say....kind of rich seeing people complain about someone at LB being listed as a DE but wanting a total 4 back his whole life turned into a slotback for Game 1 of his pro career.

Think you could probably slot Bailey in on the DL, but he was also pretty pedestrian in the pre-season.  It's not like a "OMG, how can you leave that guy off" situation.  We're going off his college stats to some extent in being excited about the potential.

Wilson is cooked, so pretty sad that he's one of two American LB's we're going to use.

Ha…. Not the media….  I was more going by comments from people here and the stuff Tait puts out.

thats a way easier transition..And totally non-comparable comparison....what was Demski?...a RB...Drury....many others....

Bailey was hardly pedestrian....his work away from the play...his speed and actual moves beating tackles pretty consistantly....actual combo of speed and power for a lankier guy...not sure what you saw...no offence btw, but he has a real good skill set and would make plays ifoffred the chance...and be nice to have game experience late in yr if injuries come up...which has killed us 3 straight yrs as we had nobody we trusted...or had experience...and we ran out a literally who's who of walking wounded

was gonna mention..T.O'S safety was a receiver who switched to DB in camp....and started his forst pro game of his career there...and did rather well...transitions can be made...athletes can play anywhere if coached properly...within reason before someone says dont see many olinman playing DB...so will nip that in bud right now

No snaps that I saw or heard of. But we have thrown Lbers to the wolves a few times at DE. We threw Lucky and Weitz into the grinder on DL a couple of times last year. Despite neither really playing it before, and Lucky being more of a DB than even a LB. We threw Hansen into it as well, though he was built for it.

If we run a good chunk of 40 front, He will very likely be thrown into the mix. If he isn't thrown in, I'd expect to see a decent number of snaps with 2 Canadian DTs, with Adams on the edge opposite one of Vaughters/wj. If we run a lot of 30, Ayers likely doesn't see a snap on the edge.

Cole too did a lot of edge work too....cause we felt no need to rioster a legit rotational end....and thats when we had HABa and Garbutt around

there should be zero reason we feel the need to use 2 canadian DT's at any time...not with the 3 we have anyway

Yeah, world of difference. As a backup / rotational slot, you can do a lot of extended hand-off stuff, on top of all the two-back stuff. Vs being 5 yards off the DL reading and reacting, or being heads up on a 6'4 300 lbs tackle. You don't have to throw at a WR to make use of them. Playing on the edge, the game is up in your face a second after the snap for every snap you're on the field.

I don't know who Drury is but Demski played receiver his entire U Sports career.

Safety to DB or OLB to DE is hardly the transition that moving a guy from a option program in high school and NCAA at running back to playing receiver in Canadian football would be.

I'd put Bailey in there for some rotational reps.  But he's hardly jumped off the screen.

I'm not sure why we assume our whole coaching staff has vendettas on certain guys while all the players can do is talk about how much they want to be part of this team even when they aren't on it.  Where's all the former players trashing our organization if there's deep seated problems?

Don't love all the Cdn LBs and DTs but that is the Cdn depth at the moment until all the DBs heal up.

Would love to get Woods and JJones on the roster. Hard to do with the 3 american olinemen.

I'm sure Wilson will get hurt soon enough and JJones can slot in.
