Yeah he can't do much from the pocket off a 3 or 5 step drop.  And I'm not sure how you win many games like that in this era.  You go RPO and let him be poor man Damon Allen but also get cranked 8-10 times a game.

Our punter would of put that at about the 30..35 and they'd be scrimaging close to midfield

He needs to drop about 10..12 yards from the shotgun to see whats going on..and give him space to sandlot it...not a sustainable thing for success

Returner runs the ball out of bounds at the 3 yard line on a missed field goal.  JFC.  Anyone coaching these guys?

I think esp for newer guys, they get real wide-eyed when they see our wider field not realizing you dont have to run it out every time...

Its only the first game but I see Fajardo taking over at some point. Ford is a run first qb and can't really pile up points, they'll need a passing attack to compliment their running ability, otherwise its going to be a long year again in Edmonton......this is also making BC look better this game as well.

Tre Ford throwing into three defenders versus 1 receiver. Yikes.

They really need to actually build an offense to suit him if they are going to try to do this for real.  He can't pass from the pocket.  The RPO stuff is dangerous and tires out defenses.  Get them guessing where the ball is going to go and choosing to cover downfield or come up to defend the run.

Fajardo is a terrible partner for him because if they end up using him he'll be butthurt if they give snaps to Ford for a special RPO pack.

When the chips are down, adversity hits thats when I’ll be interested to see if Rourke has grown into being a mature qb.

Or when he plays Winnipeg. He always looks terrible against you guys.

Wouldn’t this be a great opportunity for the Elks to run an actual 2qb system with Fajardo and Ford? I know its unheard of but would love to see a team actually attempt it. Get the offensive coordinator to think how that could look with the talent they have. Whats the harm in trying for a quarter to see if you can get any traction with it?

If I was an Elks fan, having Ford as the starter would drive me nuts. His play at qb is all over the place. There's no consistency, rhyme or reason to how he plays qb. Ford makes an outstanding play that takes 18 seconds to run as he makes chicken salad out of chicken feathers. But for every 1 big play he makes, he makes 5 lousy ones. Just watching him, it's all based on athletic ability & not on football smarts. I think by mid season, he'll be sitting again & Fajardo the starter with the Elks at 1-8 or 2-7.

Every pass under 15 yards the receiver has to leap to try to catch it from Ford.

Ford won't have any receivers left by season's end.

Thats a perfect hit, contact as soon as the ball was caught, not high nor low, bullshit call.

The Lions DB targeted the head of the Elks receiver with his helmet. Both lost their helmets. This isn't 1980 anymore. Players need to be protected. Good call.

He didnt target his head at all, you could see the Lions db put his right shoulder out and collided with the chest of the Elks receiver. The collision itself knocked the helmets off, not from a targeting.
