2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season

From 3DN about TSN broadcasts this year....

"The CFL on TSN is taking a renewed approach to its broadcasts for 2025.

The network’s panel will travel to all nine stadiums over the course of the upcoming season, sources told 3DownNation, including visits to Regina and Montreal in Week 1. Kate Beirness is returning to host the panel with Henoc Muamba and Davis Sanchez filling the main roles alongside her.

Paul LaPolice will also frequently appear on the panel, though he will also perform colour commentary for one game per week. As previously reported, longtime panelist and Hall of Fame quarterback Matt Dunigan is no longer with the network.

As for Milt Stegall, who has been with the network since 2009, there is no timeline for his return after the death of his eldest son, Chase. The 20-year-old died unexpectedly at DePaul University on Monday where he was a member of the school’s soccer team.

“Our CFL on TSN family is absolutely devastated over Chase’s passing. If you know Milt, you know that his family is everything to him, and we cannot imagine the pain he is going through right now,” said producer Chris Edwards in a statement to 3DownNation. “Milt is our brother and we are going to give him our love and support him in any way we can, and in whatever way he needs.”

During a broadcast teeing up the 2025 season on Tuesday, TSN dedicated its coverage this year to Chase’s memory.

TSN plans to flesh out the panel by rotating in active players, though it doesn’t appear as though this will happen every week. Players will generally make panel appearances during bye weeks, though there may also be opportunities for in-studio appearances when players are in town to play the Argonauts or Tiger-Cats.

Friday Night Football, a longtime network staple, will have a brand new presentation featuring fresh animations, graphics, and music. One source called the scope of the production “bigger.”

The play-by-play personnel at the network has remained unchanged for 2025, featuring Rod Smith, Dustin Nielson, Marshall Ferguson, and occasionally Farhan Lalji. Colour commentary will be performed by Glen Suitor, Duane Forde, and LaPolice."

Honestly the main selling point of the CFL are the timing rules of the final 3 minutes.  And arguably the most boring part of any NFL game when a team with a one score lead can just bleed the clock un

thats a good thing...we need T.O to lose and desperately need to beat Ottawa to keep a few games between us and them as we are likely gonna have to cross over.....and that prob our best route for any success in post season as we aont winning 2 on the road in the west unless both teams ahead of us lose their starting Q.B and maybe some other key piece...and even then, I cant see success attainable

Maybe we become the first crosover team to make it in history...into our own barn too....that be a good story after all this crappola

I'd rather make it in the west and got into calgary and Regina and beat those assholes when it matters.

would love that as well...but man we gotta be realistic...as we are now...and obviously no intent to bring anyone in....that's not happening

and definitely not too late....what we have...4...5 games left when Maston and Taylor stepped in and turned our season on defence?

DT's and ends....bull dozing rb....easiest guys to integrate with minimal practice/time in the CFL....X receiver too

They aren’t gonna do things the way some of you want. The d since younger took over has not been about sacks or pressure. It’s been about coverage really. Our DBs were real good the past couple of years. The DL has been bad since younger took over tho and the difference this year isn’t lack of pressure. It’s our DBs aren’t as good. Especially the cbs who give up 2 3 4 explosion plays a game. They weren’t doing that the past couple of seasons.

Sorry Goalie, I disagree with this. The DL has been ineffective this year. The DBs had some weak links and are being corrected. There is no pressure - even nominal from the DL. You cannot win when the QB regularly gets 5 steamboats, every down, every game.

But the D has not been as much of an issue as the O. Look at our second half points - and look at our number of turnovers.

We need something to change - demote Hogan and give Jackson a chance. Make some changes on both sides of the ball, when able - Jake Thomas, a loyal, hard working guy does not have the stones now - he just doesn't. Vaughters and Willie are no longer every down players - good for 50%. Many of the players we brought in as free agents have not worked out, and we have had a rash of injuries - and our QB play has diminished behind an OL that is no longer effective.

You cant fix this in a day...but make a few changes and try it out - why are we still running with Ayers at DL? Why are we still forcing Canadian depth into starting positions - when we have not even given our other Canadian depth an opportunity to see how they do (even at 20% reps a game).

We love what the mafia has done here - we want them to succeed - but they can't be stubborn and hold fast to what is NOT working - we just want them to show some sort of flexibility.

Agreed

with lack of pressure.....no rushed passes...no disruption of the QB....all time to throw...DB's will look bad....just way it is

And a couple simple changes...who know's the results but you need to try....because why do you have guys hanging around then?....but continuing to do the same thing...thats been failing...who keeps doing that?

And really....can it be any worse???

To defend the DB's knowing they've contributed their fair share to our current situation you can't cover forever like an olineman can't hold his block forever.

for the sake of the league I was kinda hoping that the Argos would ride Arbuckle for the rest of the season and then quietly move on from the Chad.  Arbuckle getting hurt messes with this plan, but yeah, you're right, upside to the Blue.

Doesn't matter if they do what we want or not, all we're saying is, if they used their roster better they could get more out of their defensive line and improve the defense dramatically.

Cfl field is too big to never pressure a qb.

I think it speaks volumes that Kelly is still not good to go after all this time.

So put together a roster using the ratio and all that stuff and let’s see cuz I’m looking at the pr and im not sure how I get Jake off and Adams and woods on. Mitchell for Echols? Ok but im not sure any of the moves we could make, im not sure they make a difference. You replacing your 2 worst Americans to get woods and Thomas on and you replacing your worst Canadian in Thomas. Does it really help? I don’t see the talent on the pr at the moment. The easy way is to have an Aussie or Canadian kicker and punter. Then you can get another American roster player on who does more than kick fgs and kickoffs.

Jake can come off for any Canadian....or Global....so slap on Bailey...Vibert....Cobb

Ayers plays st...and about 3 worthless snaps off edge on short yardage....easy to bump him off for one of Woods or Adams seeing as Woodbey has took over the role they envisioned for Ayers

Also with Houston now...Kelly on...we dont need Vaval and Lawson JR...Lawson Jr can hit plank...Hello Woods...Adams...easy to get both on

If a db goes down mid game...Vaval steps in and Cobb can take over returns if it's too much for him and to minimize risk if injury....And agree, its time for Echols as well as Mitchell has done nothing and Echols also guves you returner ability

Pretty simple to do it...we choose not to do it

3-7 in last 10, lost three in a row, grey cup year, we should be making all the moves to get the best players we can on this roster at all times, looks like Walters and O’Shea are asleep at the wheel, what do you expect when O’Shea is talking about performances from 6 years ago, I don’t care what what you’ve done six years ago or six games ago. If you’re not getting it done, get off the field.

He said it himself this yr " you look at tape of a guy yrs ago and see the success he had" as his reasons for his decisions on some players

Dude has no concept of regression..age related or not...and is continually looking in rear view...and he shows no indication of changing...12 yrs in...and nope

“Years ago” lol. Let’s just take a look at Doug Brown’s film from 2001 and bring him out of the booth to replace JT

Win last night & the Stamps could seriously think of finishing first in the West. Instead, they both their starting & backup qb (McCarthy) who was starting to play well in relief of Adams. he looks like he's done for awhile. maybe the rest of the season. Now, he Stamps are down to one inexperienced qb. Throw in a couple of other starters who got nicked who may also be out.

Do the Stamps trade for a veteran backup? They're in big trouble if Adams is out for a stretch like Collaros. There aren't many backup vets in this league now even worth it anymore. Just a horrible crop of backups.

The other thing is how could the Stamps let that patty cake defense in BC even play that way. Like WTF? And Betts is such a dirty player. Someone is going to take him out.

To be honest, I think 2025 Doug Brown would be better than 2025 Jake.

While unproven, I’d say Powell is the best of the backups. Good luck getting him out of Hamilton this season though.
Stamps may be SOL, no one’s out of the race and putting on a fire sale this year.

I'm sure if the price is right & Dave is willing to pay then a trade could be made. The Cats are only a couple of players away from being a truly CFL elite tean. And they want after 25 years. They're hungry like a certain team we know was in 2019. But management here is old, fat & over the hill now.

I feel like they’d be elite with another piece or 2 and far as this season goes, they’re about as top notch as anybody. I just don’t see why they’d risk giving up a younger but experienced backup given BLM’s age.
