GDT 2025 preseason kick off

https://www.bluebombers.com/2025/05/24/game-day-hq-preseason-1/

players and positions to watch;

qb, ofc. Is strevy rusty? Is zach healthy? How does hogans play call and management look?

ol, two open spots and an open battle at G for imp or ni. Randolph at rt and Wallace at G are the guys to watch.

wr battle, the 3 free agents are all guys to watch.

At dl, has adams progressed? Bailey and person are big ones to watch. I expect a lot from the starters with vaughters.

lber is the deepest battle in camp. The Canadians, will Ayers step up and which jones wins out?

Secondary, will griffin take a starting job, Parker at S, Gowan vs bridges on the corner and rookie vaval has had a good camp.

punter and the wide open kr job will be great to see too.

I'm sure those 4 will be the 4 all yr...Greek dude on pr

Eli will be fine at guard...but excellent at center...I truly don't want us going 3 imports on online as that basically just takes away a guy on defence...Likely a guy on the dline...if we wanna excell on defence this yr we need a better than solid rotation of 3 import ends..2 import tackles and the Global and one nat dt...if we use an import on oline we will have an interior of schmeck...schmuck and one of adams or Woods and likely no Person or any other import that makes a case for the roster...and if that happens we will get gouged and ate alive upfront and need our backend to be more than exceptional...all the time. And as good as they can be back there...that won't happen

If Evans out punts punter guy again...there is no reason he shouldn't get game one...and if ya'll noticed on his punts there was minimal return on them..there's a reason for that

I not writing Wheatfall off either...I could see a Schoen..Demski..CLercius..Wheatfall..White and D.Mitxhell group...with Mitchel the DA and punt/kick return guy...63k sunk in a signing bonus assures his ticket on roster and I bet he gets his groove going...this regime isn't one to admit error and bite the bulett on money so hes a lock

Yeah Wheatfall showed enough potential last yr..and did have a couple nice plays sat...he oozes potential and hes a returnee ...so I'd be shocked hes not in starting unit...if hes not i bet it's Hall...Whom i pretty sure will be on PR if not on roster

I'm taking Reggie White above Wheatfall due to thicker build, he can hang around on the PR till injury happen, or till Pokey comes home  Sterns better have an impressive outing in game 2 or Myron Mitchell's going to grab his spot as the twitchy inside receiver.  Dillon Mitchell not showing much yet, but I guess he'll show up sooner or later, but maybe too late.

Eli doesn’t work well with kola. Neuf tbh doesn’t either.
It’s certainly sup optimal by a lot. Imp guard is a crutch. If you gotta do it, do it. I think we are best off sticking Wallace in and growing with him. Then one day swapping Eli in for the turnstile at c.

vanterpool also had some really good plays at T. I’d like to continue to see him develop there and push Randolph.

100% agree.

since we have a bye then a suspension week to Zach, I think he needs a decent few snaps this game to get the last rust off and try to keep it off.

Who does work well with Kolo? Lol...our guards basically just cope with it...Vanterpool has progressed a lot..and can play multiple spots..def a keeper but I soooo don't want 3 import oline as it will rape our defence in a huge way

I think white has just about won a job with his run game play and system fit.

Yeah...with the 3 incumbents i can see white and wheatfall...DMitchel as extra..soley on money tied into him and he can return

As it is I think we will be right up against it for starting Canadians with 3ol. I would still look hard at flipping wil to ni but we aren’t grooming to get that done this year.

Gotta say not happy seeing Woli & Lawler playing for the Ti Cats last night. It was still a shock to the system to see all the former Blue Bombers on that team even though we knew it already. I can understand releasing Woli & wanting to get more playing time for Clercius but Lawler? Currrently the best deep threat in the CFL at the moment. Walters better hope that Schoen plays every game, has a dominant season & get bogged down with injuries since Walters hasn't got a contract for next season. Neither has Osh.

They highlighted Augustine too, which was kind of nice to see.

Go with whoever Collaros likes better.

There's not a ton to choose from between those guys.  Mitchell and White have the most experience.  They are complimentary with one being more of the heavy inside style and the other being more of the guy you're trying to get loose vertical or one-on-one off a screen with a corner.  But if for some reason Collaros really feels comfortable working with Wheatfall or Myron Mitchell, put them on the roster.

I don’t expect all 4 QBs to play tbh. I think Wilson’s snaps will be limited even. Strevy and zach likely play a lot of the snaps unless injury, massive hits, or an extremely lopsided performance.

From what I’ve seen and the reports so far I think punting is what it is and will continue to be. Sheahan has been shaky and Evan’s looks like a killer.

Didn't sound like Collaros is travelling to Regina as of last night.

Think it'll be Streveler first 3-4 series then first couple in 2nd half, Wilson around that and Artopoeus for most of the 4th.

If zc I'd wanna see Strev get at least the first half...Wilson 3rd and part of 4th...new guy last part of 4th...as there no way in hell he getting in the first game so why bother...hes strictly development guy at this point...hes not unseating and of the 3 ahead of him

Even with Schoen back we shoulda still payed Lawler in my opinion...Eliminate D Mitchel and Thomas money...hes paid for....Lawler..Schoen..Clercius..Demski...White would look pretty sweet right about now..

I think Vanterpool had the most snaps of any OL in the game, he was involved at LG, LT and RT in various OL configurations

Man I hope that’s not the case.

Seems like it he played with 2nd unit on. Wallace also played a lot with his rt reps as did vibert.

I think I saw:

Bryant Eli Kola Neuf Randolph

Bryant Vanterpool Kola Neuf Randolph

Vanterpool Wallace Eli Vibert Hemphill

Hemphill Elsbury Eli Vibert Wallace

Hemphill Elsbury Levesque-G. Atkinson Vanterpool

You know I agree with the premise but 5 straight cup finals means they are here as long as they both want to be.

Was hilarious to watch kolankowski and neufeld downfield... neufeld gets a block allowing the receiver to pick up extra yards... and kolankowski had a great view of the tackle. Useless sack of ****.

If he not squared right up with someone immediately he is just lost...and usually they just driving him back into the pocket...his 50's and chips to follow up and engage with his guard in second level is horrendous bordering on non existent...do you every see him in second level or downfield...on seek and destroy? I can't recall...but you see others...what fascination with him Osh has is baffelling..hes undersized...and an undersized center is a bonus if they athletic and active as it allows you to do so much more...and he isn't...just don't get it...and motion in front of him or twists and stunts...fugetaboutit

this one in particular was just so comical. He was actually downfield and just didn't even come close to even getting a piece of the guy right there in front of him. get even a piece and it's more yardage on the play but no he's just trotting along watching the defender go make a tackle.

I support a lot of the silly **** Osh does, but this is the one instance that just blows me away every time. Dude gets props for filling in for injury a couple seasons ago but he needed to be gone from the starting lineup last season.

Three straight losses.

The decision making on personnel & how money is spent makes no sense.

5 straight cups is 5 straight cups and honestly until proven otherwise in the west, the bombers are the team to beat.

Not only that, but our biggest partner, TSN, is playing 2 UFL games instead.

Those UFL games help me sleep. You can actually hear the wind blow through the uprights of the empty stadium when the players aren`t talking. So soothing.

100% this idea that since they don't have a contract extension they're on the hot seat is hilarious. Very much a 3down take.

no coach in history of football is in his spot as long as he wants to be....never happens...they all crash and burn and fall out of favor...just nature of the beast

oh forsure. But if MOS or Walters isn't here next year, it will be by their choice. Not because the franchise decides to move on.

MOS is going into year 11, is that not the longest tenure for a Bomber head coach?

most likely...but you never know....trip to the big dance again and lose for much the same issues...or lose out in Semi's or WF again...for same issues....I'd have no issue with moving on...as should the Management have no issue...4 epic fails in a row...when will it end...our last cup victory was 4 yrs ago now...Personally I dont care if we "got" there again if we keep losing it for the same insane stubborn reasons....If we went and replaced the top dog...or promoted say a Younger or Costello from within....does anyone really think we would drop right into the abyss?...Highly doubt it...the culture and way things done here wasn't an invention and a whole new way of doing things created here...it's how good teams operate and we got away from it for a decade or so....part of that dry spell wasn't just incompetence and clown show stuff...some was just the way it goes...some was bad luck

I not saying can anyone, but if we fail again....and was preventable if not for the same stubbon reason's and not owning up to a ooop's admission....its time
